Sorry posted too soon. The challenge to him was equally well made. There comes a point in international trade where the costs of getting rid of reciprocal regulation outweigh the benefits.

Kaija · 07/12/2016 17:05

Howabout, so you want safety and environmental standards to be driven by the demands of the market?

howabout · 07/12/2016 17:06

I am a bit of a prude Mango so I vote for the Buff Dragon Slayer.

birdybirdywoofwoof · 07/12/2016 17:09

You mean Jacob 'man of the people', Rees mogg, do you?

I think he should go and use a dustpan and brush in the middle of an Indian motorway, I think he should dare lean on a balcony or go up some 'finished' stairs in a dept store, just for a few weeks and then tell us to sweep away safety legislation. What a cunt - still at least he's not an elite. Grin

Too intense, Inkanta?

howabout · 07/12/2016 17:11

No Kaija but I think it is increasingly the case that the pace of change and adaptation in the market leads to the frustration of employment and product regulation.

Eg Not much point in having employment rights if everyone ends up self employed.

Not much point having carbon emission standards for cars if diesel pollutants are worse and in any case the drive towards non carbon cars is more important.

Inkanta · 07/12/2016 17:13

'Too intense, Inkanta?'

That's more like it Birdy Xmas Grin

howabout · 07/12/2016 17:15

Right back atcha!!

Dapplegrey1 · 07/12/2016 17:21

Will we once more be allowed moth balls that work after Brexit?

Figmentofmyimagination · 07/12/2016 17:24

Perhaps JRM should take a job for a few weeks as a garment machinist in the Indian textile industry.

Marmitelover55 · 07/12/2016 17:39

Dapplegrey - yes probably. Moth balls were banned in 2008 throughout Europe as the pesticide was/is considered highly toxic and carcinogenic.

Bearbehind · 07/12/2016 17:44

Just read that JRM piece- all good things to look forward to eh?

MangoMoon · 07/12/2016 17:52

Wrt a lot of the more established politicians across the main parties they're definitely massively out of touch with 'real life'.
It's just stats & words for them.

JRM is very obviously in that bracket...

MangoMoon · 07/12/2016 17:53

Doesn't he look sexy fine here though?!

Will they be British toxins and carcinogens, Marmite?

twofingerstoGideon · 07/12/2016 19:04

Naughty, mango. His nanny will be very, very cross if you objectify him.

Chris - not read the detail yet but I think suffice to say that might be the last we see of Ken Clarke Wink - he can get on with his birdwatching full time now.

InformalRoman · 07/12/2016 20:30

is it safe to get the pool cues out again now?
