JRM he's gorgeous, isn't he?

My view on what he said - the vast majority of UK safety laws were in place before we joined the EU. They pinched them, perhaps we should ask for them back.

Dapplegrey1 · 07/12/2016 20:33

"Will they be British toxins and carcinogens, Marmite?"
Eh?

Petronius16 · 07/12/2016 20:46

Tonight's vote means, I think, that we're triggering A50 next March. If only the Government had done the same on June 24. So whatever the Supremes decide, we're leaving, which is what I, and others, have been saying all along.

InfiniteSheldon · 07/12/2016 20:58

Another step forward Smile

My take on tonight's non binding vote is that it forces TM to publish a plan of some description before invoking A50 and, if the Supreme Court upholds the ruling that parliament need to approve that, the game really changes.

TM will have to stop talking in catchphrases and slogans for starters.

InfiniteSheldon · 07/12/2016 21:18

400 to 79 was it?

MangoMoon · 07/12/2016 21:25

That's the way I've understood it too Bear.

The Supreme Court ruling has the potential to unbalance a lot of things if it goes against the govt.

Bearbehind · 07/12/2016 21:25

No actually, latest figures show it was, 448 to 75.

Regardless, it now requires government to come up with that elusive 'plan'

Should be interesting.

winterisnigh · 07/12/2016 21:26

I didn't rake up the past which resulted in making this thread intense but it has moved on anyway

Sorry Bear but there should be no despicable behaviour to rake up in the first place. Hmm I was a random poster you decided was someone else then you went gunning for me in a totally unacceptable manner and Mn is a fairly pleasant place all round and usually a poster would apologize.
(usually for far less).

However I am glad too see you have lightened up a little Smile it makes for a far more pleasant atmosphere.
If you can keep this up I am happy to put your past behaviour behind me. Smile.

Bearbehind · 07/12/2016 21:27

Is there a deadline for the Supreme Court ruling?

I know it's anticipated to be in the new year but could it be sooner/ later?

Bearbehind · 07/12/2016 21:42

winter I glad I don't have rabbits as you're verging on bunny boiling now. Hmm

I can't actually believe you said if you can keep this up I am happy to put your past behaviour behind me like I'm supposed to be grateful you allow me to continue to post.

Let's just agree to live and let live.

winterisnigh · 07/12/2016 21:46

I don't really think its the perpetrators position to make that call Bear.

You don't slap some one round the face then tell them to get over it.
Your tone still astonishes me, after all that you did.

I find it a little rich to be so off kilter then to carry on in the same way. But as I said - if you can try and lighten up on this thread - then I am happy to put the nasty episode behind me. Bear.

birdybirdywoofwoof · 07/12/2016 22:03

"Leave it, babes, 'snot worth it."

Said in the style of a drunk and tearful underage drinker.

RufusTheSpartacusReindeer · 07/12/2016 22:30

Oh my giddy aunt

Cailleach1 · 08/12/2016 06:16

"Tonight's vote means, I think, that we're triggering A50 next March."

I wonder if the case at the supreme court wrt NI could put a spanner in the works for that. The assertion that NI's consent is needed on foot of the GFA. It would be interesting to say the least.

Cailleach1 · 08/12/2016 06:24

It would be ironic as practically no real attention or real analysis was paid to NI and the unique situation there. Least of all by brexiteer Theresa Villiers in her past life as NI Secretary. I remember after the result during a Jon Snow interview when he pressed her on NI. She looked a bit shocked and indeed puzzled that she was supposed to be in any way concerned.

Mind you, nobody bothered pressing her during the campaign.

surferjet · 08/12/2016 07:31

True.
NI was barely mentioned here ( London ) if mentioned at all? It was like they didn't exist.

Forty % of NI voted Leave

birdybirdywoofwoof · 08/12/2016 07:54

Oh meh, I'm sure the wise minds will sort it out.

twofingerstoGideon · 08/12/2016 08:04

Oh meh, I'm sure the wise minds will sort it out.
Yes. After all, they've made spectacular progress thus far.

surferjet · 08/12/2016 08:12

Not good news about banks moving from London to Paris.....oh well.

OP posts:
birdybirdywoofwoof · 08/12/2016 08:19

Oh lighten up, this is a pub.

everyone hates banks (elites) anyway.

WrongTrouser · 08/12/2016 08:36

Well it's all been quite bad-tempered in here recently.

I just want say I am very happy about the Commons vote yesterday🙂 Interesting reactions in the press - the Guardian don't seem to be giving it much prominance.

I hope you are going to start another Arms thread surfer when this gets to the end. I always enjoy the end/start of Brexit Arms threads - just like a pub crawl with some rushing off to the next pub to get another drink in whilst the stragglers continue deep in argument to the bitter end.

Kaija · 08/12/2016 08:44

Yes everyone hates banks, and everyone was well aware this would happen (or was that project fear?)

It's really only bad news if you like schools and hospitals and all those other things that we rely on tax revenue for, that are obviously only of interest to lefty, liberal remoaner elites.

Embrace the austerity.
