THE BREXIT FALLOUT CONTINUES - THREAD NINE

The Tories have settled their scores and May is now PM.
Is it May's Day or May Day for the people?

After careful consideration I thought the best way to sum up the Labour Contest was in one simple picture. May Day, might also be appropriate here too.

Things are moving fast, so hold on tight for the Brexit Ride

Sense of humour compulsory. No experience necessary though

The sight of Liam Fox's beaming, smug face is making me want to punch things.

Unicornsarelovely · 13/07/2016 20:34

Not yet. Health? Communities and local government?

So David Davis is Secretary of State for Exiting the EU, or Sexit for short?

William Bain ‏@William_Bain · 5m5 minutes ago

So far, looking like the Tory right having more influence in Govt than for a generation - hard to square with Downing St speech earlier

Though this is worrying....

not yet squoosh. so far TM has barely done anything expected!!

DoinItFine · 13/07/2016 20:34

Glad Osborne got the Order of the Boot.

He was a woeful Chancellor.

Boris is a weird move.

GingerIvy · 13/07/2016 20:34

Just waiting for health and education ...... come on....

Helmetbymidnight · 13/07/2016 20:34

Boris - who said about obamas 'Kenyan' loyalties - wow...

I hope he fucks up (again) and is destroyed (I doubt it)

MaterofDragons · 13/07/2016 20:35

BJ as FS? Bloody hell.
Please not Gove. You can't do this to us Theresa!

squoosh · 13/07/2016 20:36

Sky News said it's unlikely there'll be anymore announcements this evening.

Helmetbymidnight · 13/07/2016 20:36

So the brexiters control all the outward looking stuff - I guess that's appropriate- it's their shit storm.

Globetrotter100 · 13/07/2016 20:36

The horror story continues...

Unicornsarelovely · 13/07/2016 20:37

Last foreign secretary to become prime minister was John Major, but he was Chancellor in between. Chancellor and Home Secretary far more common steps up to the top job.

Jim Waterson ‏@jimwaterson 56s57 seconds ago
Looks like that might be it for cabinet appointments tonight: The four top jobs, plus defence and two Brexit/trade positions now filled.

The80sweregreat · 13/07/2016 20:38

Teresa's speech didnt mention immigration. It didnt mention Brexit. Just one nation bollocks - same as DC said after the Scottish referendum.
She didnt say much at all really. She wont heal any rifts. Impossible job.
Trouble still looms.

derxa · 13/07/2016 20:38

I'm gobsmacked Amber Rudd was married to AA Gill. She deserves a medal for that alone.

RedToothBrush · 13/07/2016 20:38

Do you think Cameron and Osborne will sit on the backbenches laughing and joking together whilst throwing stuff at the front bench when Theresa's not in the house?

BREAK: after all that excitement, May now making calls to foriegn leaders. No more appointments tonight

Helmetbymidnight · 13/07/2016 20:40

But it is right the brexiters have to see it through themselves.

Now I'm over the boris shock- I think it's quite wily.

I can only imagine what all the foreign leaders will say to him!

MaterofDragons · 13/07/2016 20:40

She must be playing the long game. Surely. I'm still in shock over BJ, can't focus on the other appointments.

RedToothBrush · 13/07/2016 20:40

Are we going with the Davies plan then?

TheBathroomSink · 13/07/2016 20:41

They have kids together too derxa

Mary Ann Sieghart ‏@MASieghart 2m2 minutes ago
Twice as many men as women in the top government roles. Not a great advance, given how committed May is to equality.

Quiero · 13/07/2016 20:42

@Nigel-Farage
The appointment of @DavidDavisMP & @LiamFoxMP to Brexit and International Trade roles are inspired choices. I feel more optimistic now.

Oh, great news!

squoosh · 13/07/2016 20:42

'I'm gobsmacked Amber Rudd was married to AA Gill. She deserves a medal for that alone.'

Me too! I assumed he always been with The Blonde.

(although AA Gill was very pro Remain so I softened a bit towards him when I learnt that).

RedToothBrush · 13/07/2016 20:43

Tim Bale ‎@ProfTimBale

Now let me think, what high-profile cabinet job can someone cock up in but ruin only their own career, not their party's electoral chances?

George Osborne threw himself on a hand-grenade for Remain, even though he argued against a referendum. Stuck with Cameron till the end.
