Teresa May or Andrea Leadsom?

So without starting anything too politically fraught I wonder if people would share with me who they prefer for conservative leadership out of the two.

The race is now down to them and so we will have a female PM again!

Opinions?

There's no evidence that the electorate make sane choices for the greater good of the country. The tiny slice of electorate who get to select the next PM are on average more selfish and less capable of engaging with the real problems that the majority of the population (I accept that there are some decent tories, this is just on average). I am therefore expecting Leadsom to win and for the country to become even more deeply fucked than it already is. I think this will end in dystopian nightmare which might possibly, after everything good has been destroyed, eventually result in our children's children having a revolution after which there might be some rays of hope again.

If Leadsom wins there will be an immediate general election.

However, who the fuck would we vote in?

I think the time has come for a national government as in WWII, because none of the parties are capable of running the country on their own.

BeachysSandyFlipFlops · 07/07/2016 21:55

AL is flying by the seat of her pants. Two of her three children have grown and gone and she's 'having a go'. She's not a committed politician, she'll quietly bugger off after this unless by some god forsaken mishap happens, and May makes her Chancellor. She's really not an economist, really not up to that job, so she waffle around and fuck up the economy more and then bugger off.

May has to get it and I think she'd do well to keep Osborne for a bit, just to lessen the boat rocking, then he'll go and she can find someone more in line with what she and the U.K. needs.

WallisSimpson11 · 07/07/2016 21:55

How about 'we' sweep everything- Female Labour leader and female 'Liberal Dems' leader- (are LIbDems around?). Confused

Osborne will never be chancellor again.

Pendu · 07/07/2016 21:58

I think it's a given May is going to win. All I hear on radio 4 is about May and literally all I know about the other lady is something about her CV.

'What position do you think she'll give Boris? '

Tea maker. Boris is not the Establishment's choice. As former Daily Telegraph editor and Daily Mail columnist, Max Hastings, said about Boris "if that charlatan became PM ... I would have to leave the country".

They don't trust Boris as they think he is not serious. Therefore Leadsom can give him Party Chairman or something where he can wow the faithful at meetings.

'She'll fill her cabinet with the establishment'

No, she will put the right wingers in - Redwood, Ress-Mogg etc etc They are the outsiders that Cameron and the modernisers are not too keen on.

The Establishment doesn't want Leadsom because she won't do their usual crap like Cameron did.

That is why we saw today on Channel 4 News, Leadsom's MP supporters and Tory supporters marching in a march to protest at "an establishment stitchup" which they thought would get May's supporters to back Gove and keep Leadsom off the ballot.

Wait till Leadsom starts speaking to Tory members. She will win them over because she is positive, exudes confidence and offers a positive Brexit vision of the future. She is a good speaker and can enthuse the faithful. The media will do their worst in trying to pan her, but the faithful are probably wise to their game.

And diabetes. Oh and the British Bill of Rights.

Bookaboo · 07/07/2016 22:00

Bleedin nora, we won't even find out the result until 9th Sepetember!

Maz2444466 · 07/07/2016 22:01

Thanks Claig

Idiotxit · 07/07/2016 22:02

the will of the people

Fgs.

Hardly any of them had a bloody clue what they voting for. Why? Because there is no plan. No one has a bloody clue what to do. It's an absolute poisoned, pointless, crappy chalice of shit. Didn't stop all those bright sparks voting for it though.

The ship will have sunk by then.

BombadierFritz · 07/07/2016 22:05

This is all just some weird sociological experiment in how to engineer the downfall of civilisation - practised on a small easily isolated islabd. Or i am asleep and its a niggtmare.

Fauchelevent · 07/07/2016 22:08

Another feminist who really does not see this as a victory for either women or feminism.

To answer your question they are both as bad as each other but I think it will be May.

Sixweekstowait · 07/07/2016 22:12

I wonder what the demographics of Tory party members are? My completely uninformed guess ( I don't know any) is that they are older than average, more likely to be home owners and privately educated, professionals, white, homophobic, Brexiteers - anybody know?

RockandRollsuicide · 07/07/2016 22:13

Oh no, it was very clear, vote in or out of the EU and we chose out.
Of course there is a bloody clue on what to do. Extricate the UK from the EU, it will form as we negotiate.
How on earth can you have a plan - when it will all come down to a give and take situation?

AyeAmarok · 07/07/2016 22:14

Well given that Leadsom doesn't think small businesses should have to give women maternity rights, as a feminist it's definitely May for me.

RockandRollsuicide · 07/07/2016 22:16

yes you could certainly call the EU that ^^ which is brilliant we are now leaving it

TSSDNCOP · 07/07/2016 22:16

May.

Leadsom, as Theresa May winds me up, I can't stand her and she voted remain. She reminds me of wil o the wisp, or skeletor.
Surely, they need a leave voter to run the country.

MajesticWhine · 07/07/2016 22:18

Theresa May - a thousand times Theresa May.

Idiotxit · 07/07/2016 22:24

it will form as we negotiate

Who is 'we'? What are 'we' negotiating? With what? With whom? For what? What exactly do you want to achieve?

The future of the country has been fucked beyond all belief, and that's all you've got?
