Has anyone learnt anything?

I am a remainer and have spent about two hours a day reading threads and articles on Brexit. I started angry, got angrier but am now calming down.

I have disagreed with a huge amount of what posters who voted to leave the EU have said. So what I have learnt?

• I sort of knew but had underestimated how difficult life is in some parts of the UK
• that some posters had good reasons for leaving the EU.
• that immigration is patchy and is an issue in some areas
• buy to let landlords in the SE, buy cheap property in the North and turn them into HMO's filled with immigrants
• how totally morally bankrupt some politicians are, it is one thing fiddling your expenses but to create this shitstorm
• everyone has been let down, both people who voted in and out of the EU. We are a tolerant, outgoing nation.

I am no longer going to use the labels of remain and leave. They have now become full of bile and hatred.

I have learnt that politicians are completely in thrall to the media particularly the Murdoch press.

The press should be regulated much more stringently

That politicians can lie through their teeth, throw the country into disarray and still come up smelling of roses.

True democracy is impossible under the reign of press and media bias.

I now have respect for very few politicians.

The concerns of the young are not being addressed

Working class people have been shat on by Blarite and Tory politics for too long.

People often lose their ability to think when an appeal is made to nationalistic sentiment.

Manipulating the above works EVERY TIME.

There are more racists than I realised.

Boris Johnson is a dick.

Nothing will change any of the above.

I have learnt over the last couple of weeks that the majority (before this I thought it was a minority) of politicians across all parties don't have the interests of the people at heart at all and are only interested in their careers and will say anything/whatever fits at the time in order to achieve their end goal (including blatant lies).

Most media is full of bt.

That threads/posts on here start off reasonably, progress to something resembling a game of Top Trumps then descends into something in the style of bloomin Lord of The Flies. We are all turning on each other and not actually achieving anything (except maybe self gratification)..

That maybe we have all been pawns in some bizarre political/social game/experiment more reminiscent of George Orwell.

That a film will be made of this in the future and DC/DGC will say "what the hell".

That this will be a lesson for any other EU country on how NOT to do things.
