March? What march?

Can anyone else find much news coverage of this 'democratic march against democracy'? Twitter is full of info, but tune into the news channels and you would be forgiven for thinking it wasnt happening. Kind of has the ring of 'nobody cares' really doesnt it?

A number of marchers posting on twitter seem to think they are geographically being removed from Europe, although I guess you could forgive them given the odd name given to the march itself 'March for europe'

Why is it not 'March for E.U'? Isnt that what they are really there for? Anyone else as confused as I am?

This thread is inspiring me. We must fight scorn with civility

This rather wonderful man striped an EDF demo with custard creams

Yes, TheFuture -- social media is overrun with posts like that. Newspaper comment sections are full of anti-nationalist bile. Incidents of anti-Brexiter assault and intimidation have gone way up. I saw an old person today and told her to go home (she claimed she WAS home! I said, no, I mean where you were really from, where you were born, ie THE PAST. She claimed that it was impossible Hmm). Then we defied the quiet majesty of the people's voice, and all marched on London wearing top hats to show we hate democracy. There was rage! Violence! Relentless punning!

BTW, since it's the crassest signs that seem to have excited your interest, it's a shame if you missed the 2003 Iraq War march. More bush jokes than a Jilly Cooper novel.

I dont know why, but this WIKI on fascism is interesting.

Ironic now you mention the Iraq war, that Tony Blair is on your side!

OP posts:
whydidhesaythat · 02/07/2016 17:10

Ok!

Thefuturecouldbebright · 02/07/2016 17:13

Well, I suppose he speaks for you? In the same way that Farage supposedly speaks for us Brexiteers!

OP posts:
Thefuturecouldbebright · 02/07/2016 17:16

Just for clarity, I am not offended by the signs , I find them hilarious, given the intellectual superiority argument that has been constantly banded around!

OP posts:
smallfox1980 · 02/07/2016 17:16

You can mention Tony Blair all you like, all of the MPs on the leave side were in favour of Iraq too.

Boris Johnson was incredibly pro Bush too.

ARumWithAView · 02/07/2016 17:17

Ironic you mention fascism, since every far-right and neo-fascist group in Europe and the UK seems thrilled with Brexit. Some kindly soul stopped by the other demo thread to tell us Remain protestors will be sitting 'ducks for the far right fascists to attack'.

whydidhesaythat · 02/07/2016 17:18

Custard cream man is an inspiration. yes I would be delighted to have him speak for me. What's not to like?

I'm guessing Nigel Garage doesn't really speak for you Op and am glad to hear it)

Thefuturecouldbebright · 02/07/2016 17:18

Hi Small...havent seen you for a bit, It wasnt me who raised the iraq war protests was it? Just responding in kind. BTW I dont support Boris either! Have I ever said I did? Yet more assumptions...

Sorry that should be a smile not a bracket

Thefuturecouldbebright · 02/07/2016 17:22

No why none of those fools do, (read gove, Boris, Farage) but then Neither should Juncker and his cronies IMHO, hence my decision.

ROFL at Nigel Garage!!!! Grin

ARumWithAView · 02/07/2016 17:24

We know you're not offended.

You started this thread to express mock confusion that nobody was on the march, or nobody was reporting it, and nobody cared.

A bunch of people who had been on it turned up. Plenty of news reports.

You decided it was better to concede that the march did take place, but haha it was just all haha so funny heehee thanks for the amusement haha I'm laughing does everyone get that I'M LAUGHING at you so-called clever clogs Bremainers .

Goadiness score: 2/10. You need to be more subtle.

caitlinohara · 02/07/2016 17:25

future Months ago, someone started a thread entitled 'with Farage, Johnson and Gove on one side, isn't it obvious which way to vote'? To which I replied, YABU. There are twats on both sides.

And it was ever thus, and shall always be. Grin

whydidhesaythat · 02/07/2016 17:28

Pleased to hear it Future

What was your view on Boris before he fell? he scared me because of his charisma- my head would be saying "no" but my heart would be saying "ooh, crimes by buses, teehee" I am clearly a sucker for a good pun

Do you have positive leaders in mind? Do you feel positive about a any of the candidates?

smallfox1980 · 02/07/2016 17:28

I wasn't responding to you thefuture, as you evidently didn't mention blair, but it should be assumed I was responding to the person that did.

Just a point on the Iraq war though. As someone who was an activist for the stop the war coalition I remember that at the time whilst there was big opposition to the war, there were far more in favour of it. There is a lot of revisionism going on where people remember everyone being opposed to it, that was not the case at all at the time.

Thefuturecouldbebright · 02/07/2016 17:28

It wasnt mock confusion, I genuinely do not understand why its calle 'march for Europe' we are not leaving europe! Why the Baguettes etc? WTH!

I found the twitter info, after not finding the live coverage I was looking for. It was amusing to me, especially given the utter patronising SHIT that we brexiteers have put up with this week, from the so called intellectuals!! But I guess critiscism only goes one way?

OP posts:
Thefuturecouldbebright · 02/07/2016 17:31

Maybe Small, the same will be true if things work out favourably for Brexit (or unfavorably) over the coming years, history will be the test I suppose.

OP posts:
Thefuturecouldbebright · 02/07/2016 17:35

Why, I have always considered him an eccentric and a laughable character, Not someone who can/should run the country at all.

As for the others, for me, its between May and Leadsom. They are the only reasonable choices from the bunch.

OP posts:
Thefuturecouldbebright · 02/07/2016 17:38

Oh, and I never conceded the March didnt take place! Merely that I couldnt find live coverage on the major news networks... 🙄

OP posts:
whydidhesaythat · 02/07/2016 17:38

I agree, I would rather have either of the women.

I really wish we had stayed in and support the marchers fully

It is interesting that you see Juncker as being as bad as nigel garage. can you sumarise why?
