Are you still sane?

Will this insanity ever end?

Gove is awful. I listened to some Tory today saying he was very talented, look at what a successful he was in education. Without a hint of irony. Grin
I don't know anyone who thinks the education system was improved by Goves time there.
Really hope he isn't PM

RedToothBrush · 30/06/2016 17:15

Theresa is starting to look fluffy to my eyes.

LurkingHusband · 30/06/2016 17:18

Just read that Gove has stated "Boris wasn't up to being PM"

Dozer · 30/06/2016 17:19

Yes, really successful in education if you like Orwellian dystopian methods!

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 30/06/2016 17:21

So I'm at work with no internet access all day long and this is what I come back to?

Fuck.
I thought this sorry mess was supposed to start clearing up, one way or the other.

Chalalala · 30/06/2016 17:38

If I was the EU I would definitely be making soothing noises towards Scotland right now.

Not only does it give them more leverage on the UK, but it's also great PR internationally. Scotland is the nice country that really wants to stay in the EU, England are the bad guys wrenching them away. The Hollywood sob stories write themselves.

"A week is a long time in politics"

Harold Wilson.

I wonder if Gove will actually get through to the final two. Sounds like he has pissed alot of MPs off with the stunt this morning. They start voting on Tuesday, that isn't long to repair his standing.

thecatfromjapan · 30/06/2016 17:40

They have to choose someone who won't bury them at the next GE, though.

We need to make it clear we do not want to be governed by a man with truly criminal associates, who was involved in a campaign based on lies, and who has trolled the economy and caused political chaos.

thecatfromjapan · 30/06/2016 17:40

Throwing Johnson in front of the train isn't good enough.

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 30/06/2016 17:41

Gove is toast.
He burned up too many people.

Hamishandthefoxes · 30/06/2016 17:43

But Paul Dacre and Rupert Murdoch own Gove so the press will love him.

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 30/06/2016 17:45

Fuck the press.

Yesterday I thought, maybe there is way out, maybe there is a glimmer of common sense there somewhere.
Today I just feel angry with all of them.

RedToothBrush · 30/06/2016 17:47

That is what I'm hoping, but the other 3 candidates aren't great. Unless someone can really rally people behind someone else it won't happen. Especially when Gove is backed by two people who have dirt on everyone.

If everyone goes to May, instead of backing another candidate Gove will get the second position to go to ballot for the whole party (which you really don't want).

The next few days will be interesting. I suspect there will be lots of scheming and deals done to try and get a third candidate enough support to cut out Gove.

Gove apparently has dirt on everyone...

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 30/06/2016 17:51

I think he's gone too far.
God, I loathe that man.

Chalalala · 30/06/2016 17:53

I'm wondering if Gove even wants this. Maybe it was actually a noble act of self-destruction, taking Boris down with him, to make sure that Brexit does happen in the end.

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 30/06/2016 17:55

Of course he wants it.
Did you read the email yesterday?
They both want it. Badly.

GingerIvy · 30/06/2016 17:56

It's a sad sad day when I'm sitting here thinking May and Osborne are the ones that are being the most sensible and mature out of the Tories. Hmm

Chalalala · 30/06/2016 17:58

I've had a bad case of cognitive dissonance for a while GingerIvy. Once during the campaign I almost cheered for Osbourne Confused

Chalalala · 30/06/2016 17:59

Osborne

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 30/06/2016 18:00

After the Corbyn tragicomedy of errors and musical shadow appointments here comes the Tory tragedy of backstabbing, betrayal and general stupidity.

gingeroots · 30/06/2016 18:01

I can't keep up with this thread ,so this may have already been discussed but I see that it's being suggested that Vine's email was deliberately leaked to be smirch Johnson .

has the ring of truth to me - it was such an unlikely missive to a husband .And accidently cc'd to joe public ? Not likely is it ?

GingerIvy · 30/06/2016 18:01

Chalala As I said before, this week has been surreal. Although this thread has been great discussing things, instead of the other threads that have insults and recriminations flying about.

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 30/06/2016 18:06

Not sure if it was deliberate leak, I think it just shows how they planned things.

It did damage to Gove too, so no, I think it must have been a mistake.
