I m hearing the others trotting out empty slogans on disaster when its not true.

mollie123 · 01/07/2016 07:57

to be accurate - she ABSTAINED from the equal marriage vote - that means neither for nor against
OTOH - Steven Crabb was against
I dislike S Crabbe because he is constantly wittering on about his background and 'the intergenerational unfairness' so he is ageist as unfairness to him only goes one way.
That said - anyone can believe in what they like and it does not mean they could not do a good job as PM
I prefer AL to TM - for what my opinion is worth. Hmm

Millyonthefloss2 · 01/07/2016 09:16

She is a simpering idiot who appeals to other idiots; I wouldn't put her in charge of a parish council. What?
Leadsom was Financial Institutions Director at Barclays from 1993 to 1997 – and was Managing Director of DPFM between 1997 and 1999. She was Head of Corporate Governance and Senior Investment Officer at Invesco Perpetual from 1999 to 2009.
In July 2012, during the Libor scandal, she was widely reported on for her effectiveness at getting to the bottom of the scale of the mismanagement of risk in banks during the Treasury Committee's questioning of Bob Diamond. At a subsequent hearing with the Bank of England she also questioned Paul Tucker who confirmed that the previous government had not conspired with the Bank to fix rates. In a BBC interview, Leadsom stated that the suggestion "has now been completely squashed by Paul Tucker", and that on that specific point, George Osborne, the Chancellor of the Exchequer, might want to apologise to Ed Balls for "suggesting he was implicated in rate fixing".

I doubt she has ever simpered in her life. For better, or worse, she reminds me strongly of Margaret Thatcher.

Vri123 · 01/07/2016 09:56

She is economically illiterate

If she was that, then she wouldn't have lasted one afternoon as CIO at Invesco, never mind 10 years.

LineyReborn · 01/07/2016 09:58

Abstaining is the coward's way.

bakeoffcake · 01/07/2016 10:09

I thought she came across as the best of a bad bunch when I saw her on the TV debates. She seems calm, thoughtful and unflappable, just what we need for the future negotiations.

I do want May to be leader but I think Leadsom should have a top job.

bakeoffcake · 01/07/2016 10:10

I do know that Gideon MUST go if he thinks tax rises and cuts are the way to help us through this shitstorm.

Inkanta · 02/07/2016 12:17

'Head and shoulders above the rest, Andrea ran the cleanest, clearest campaign for the future of our country based on the arguments. She has consistently acted with honesty and integrity.'

I agree - she's the best person to lead us. Love her cool head and positive attitude. I believe she has quite unique talents to unite the country - you don't come across that very often. Hope we don't lose the opportunity.

Inkanta · 02/07/2016 12:21

I also think Andrea has balls. She stood up to Sturgeon very well during the Brexit debate and was unflappable with it.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 02/07/2016 12:28

So she worked in the city? Brexit - the peoples revolution, socking it to the elites. I'm sure her politics will resonate with the people of Sunderland, Clacton etc. Hmm

Tomtomato · 02/07/2016 12:44

Arron Banks & Nigel Farage's Leave campaign back Andrea Leadsom for Tory leader, she's the UKIP candidate, she is the candidate supported by the campaign which produced 'that poster'
Watch this from 6 minutes, for her jaw dropping claim on trade, which has never been challenged. www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b07gv19n/daily-politics-16062016
And let's not forget, her willingness to accept £600,000 BNP donation www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/andrea-leadsom-refuses-confirm-600000-8251291#ICID=sharebar_twitter

UnderTheGreenwoodTree · 02/07/2016 12:51

She also has some very dubious tax-avoiding offshore investments - on a far larger scale than DC was criticised for.

She has the calm cool head of a sociopath, in it for herself. She's only been an MP since 2010 - her leadership bid has been fuelled by her flag-waving during brexit - otherwise she'd still be a fairly unknown MP.

Inkanta · 02/07/2016 12:54

If those against her are wanting to find dirt I'm sure they will find something they can constitute as dirt.

I like her. Many do.

YokoUhOh · 02/07/2016 12:55

No. She's an idiot.

OP is suggesting she's brilliant because she's the 'we must invoke Article 50 asap' candidate.

LineyReborn · 02/07/2016 13:00

Poster girl for UKIP, tax avoider, city banker, part of the elite, daft claims about trade ... what's not to like?

n0ne · 02/07/2016 13:19

Well, I think she's awful. Any argument the Remain side came up with during the debate, she laughed it off like they were being silly children. Extremely disrespectful and unprofessional, imo.

Inkanta · 02/07/2016 13:21

Poster girl for UKIP?
tax avoider?
city banker?
part of the elite?
daft claims about trade?

Enlighten me.

Brokenbiscuit · 02/07/2016 13:23

I hadn't heard of her before the referendum debates but I thought she was dreadful on those. Really hope she isn't our next PM....

Inkanta · 02/07/2016 13:23

I'm a leave voter by the way.

I don't expect remainers' to back her if they are not happy to to be lead into Brexit - as I am.

SwedishEdith · 02/07/2016 13:45

All part of the problem - backed by Arron Banks should be enough to ring warning bells about her integrity as a politician. He'll be calling the shots - very worrying.

mamamea · 02/07/2016 14:27

"And let's not forget, her willingness to accept £600,000 BNP donation"

It was not a £600,000 BNP donation, it was a donation from a private citizen who appeared on the BNP members list a decade ago.

UnderTheGreenwoodTree · 02/07/2016 17:36

it was a donation from a private citizen who appeared on the BNP members list a decade ago.

Well, it could happen to anyone, couldn't it? Oops, I've accidentally found myself on a far-right group members list but I'm not racist at all, honestly...

People really, really need to watch who they're standing with here.

mamamea · 02/07/2016 18:15

"People really, really need to watch who they're standing with here."

It was a donation. There is NO requirement to vet your donors against illegally leaked old BNP members lists.

It's perfectly possible that the donor is a horrible racist, but we don't know that.
