Anyone agree?

OP posts:
Vri123 · 30/06/2016 21:15

I'd vote for her. I think she'd be someone who I'd respect and believe in.

I noticed on the interview she did today that she actually spoke about what she'd do - and it was all about making the UK thrive - rather than bland, unsubstantiated "kinder, fairer, better" statements.

I'm not keen on Theresa May, and I've gone off Michael Give big time in the last 12 hours.

UnderTheGreenwoodTree · 30/06/2016 21:19

Looks like Murdoch is backing Gove and Mrs MacGove.

So that's that then.

Sixweekstowait · 30/06/2016 21:25

All she knows about is banking - very helpful. She can't hold a candle to Teresa May

officerhinrika · 30/06/2016 21:41

mooing were we listening to the same episode of Womans Hour? I thought she completely failed to make her case.

RainYourRottingMyDhaliaBulbs · 30/06/2016 21:45

I heard her on Woman's hour this week, calmly dealing with a studio of hysterical doom-mongers and I thought she was terrific

how do I access this?

I find her reassuring, we need someone who can reassure us.

UnderTheGreenwoodTree · 30/06/2016 21:47

Me too, officerhinrika.

I didn't think she came across well at all - more like someone in denial. She was trying to make out the political and economic stability wasn't crashing down all around us.

BurnTheBlackSuit · 30/06/2016 21:47

I've been saying this since the debates. From what I know about her, she seems good. I think we need someone sensible running the country. If she doesn't win the PM-ship (and then I hope May does) then she should be the Chancellor.

I don't think her stance on the gay marriage vote was as clear cut as it sounds from what I remember.

SirChenjin · 30/06/2016 21:49

Would you like a shot of our Ruth Davidson? I can send her to you for a small fee (don't tell her that, we haven't quite finalised the deal)

puffylovett · 30/06/2016 21:52

Ruth Davidson is amazing, I thought

Mooingcow · 30/06/2016 21:52

officer Grin

rain try this

BurnTheBlackSuit · 30/06/2016 21:52

Here's all the candidates stance on LGBT issues. Turns out Gove is the most LGBT pro candidate: www.pinknews.co.uk/2016/06/30/heres-where-all-the-tory-pm-candidates-stand-on-lgbt-rights/

SirChenjin · 30/06/2016 21:54

Ruth is amazing - no nonsense, very down to earth, very pragmatic. Make me an offer? Grin

UnderTheGreenwoodTree · 30/06/2016 21:58

I really like Ruth Davidson.

n0ne · 30/06/2016 21:59

Are you kidding me?! Loathsome woman! During the pre-referendum debate I wanted to punch her, with her piss-taking comments, like it was all a big joke.

SirChenjin · 30/06/2016 22:00

nOne - Ruth or Andrea?

n0ne · 30/06/2016 22:01

Andrea. I really like Ruth

BurnTheBlackSuit · 30/06/2016 22:33

Piss taking? Please can you explain?

I'm confused. I watched the first debate and followed the MN thread on it at the same time. Everyone on the thread from both sides seemed to be commenting on how sensible Leadsom seemed. At the time, everyone respected her views.

If we're going from the perspective of "we're leaving, let's make the best of it" I don't understand what's not to like about her (compared to the other 4 candidates- I'm sure she's no saint). All the negative of this thread has been things like "loathsome woman" without anything to back that opinion, bar that she abstained from the gay marriage vote.

highlandcoo · 30/06/2016 22:40

There's no substance to her. Can you honestly imagine her standing up to Putin or - God forbid - Donald Trump. "I'm a mum" wouldn't get her far with that pair.
Not a Tory myself but we need a Prime Minister who won't make us a laughing stock so it has to be Theresa May.
Ruth Davidson would be great in the future; it's too soon at the moment and I think she likes Scotland anyway!

UnderTheGreenwoodTree · 30/06/2016 22:50

Lack of any decent experience, burntheblack.

Plus she's she's v bland. A bit "Maggie Thatcher without a pulse"

But I'm Remain, so I'm not likely to get her - I thought her responses on the webchat v poor.

MitzyLeFrouf · 30/06/2016 22:51

She's not a person. She's a Tory automaton that's been programmed with a few stock phrases.

MitzyLeFrouf · 30/06/2016 22:54

'Everyone on the thread from both sides seemed to be commenting on how sensible Leadsom seemed. At the time, everyone respected her views.'

The thread I saw was in no way united in admiration!

RainYourRottingMyDhaliaBulbs · 01/07/2016 07:13

The thread I saw was, only one or two dissenters but I got the feeling that was pure sour grapes rather than informed criticism. Leadsom knows what she is talking about, she has worked in the city and she has been part of a team trying to find reforms in the EU. She knows how it works and its failings very well. In fact she knows them so well its what convinced her and most of her team that leaving the morass was the only option for reform. I would say her experience is invaluable.

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 01/07/2016 07:22

I listened to her yesterday.
She wanted both Heathrow and Gatweek expanded, but she had no idea whether she wanted a terminal or runways.
It seems she can trot out the big slogans but has no plan with details.
Didn't that sort of attitude just get us here?

RainYourRottingMyDhaliaBulbs · 01/07/2016 07:36

just listening to her now and she is right about politicians talking us to get into trouble and speculating.

whatever role she gets I hope its a prominent one.
I heard on news one reason why Gove turned on Boris was because he wasnt going to give her a job?

Oh again people talking over again, Remain talking over and shouting down leave?

RosesareSublime · 01/07/2016 07:48

I get nervous when andrea is talking because she is simply shouted over.
