To be apppalled by the remain camp attitude

On my FB feed, social media, TV we are being berated for voting leave, we are being called racist, thick, uneducated, stupid, poor, peasants, benefit scroungers...the list goes on. There is even an petition now to have another referendum because obviously the leave camp know absolutely nothing.

Boris Johnson was whisked away by the police when he left his house this morning as protesters were ranting at him, banging on his car. How is this democracy? why does it only run one way? Yet you cheer at this act of aggression.

I would understand if the vote was closer but it was not close, leave won by well over a million votes. Why cant you accept the results and look for a way forward together, why have a "me vs them" attitude.

You don't speak for me, retrorobot, and never have.

Just what do you think calling people chavs is going to achieve? FGS.

Though I wouldn't try claiming high-ground for Leave re ageism, Mooingcow. I've had very patronising Leavers tell me I shouldn't bother with facts, but just follow them, because they were so much older and more experienced than me.

Except they weren't.

But you know, I disagreed with them about something, so must be both young and ignorant. Jolly good.Hmm

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 24/06/2016 21:34

SmileThanks Hildur....he is lovely and kind and he just cannot in all conscience agree or even go along with a federal govt. I GET that, and I am proud of him for sticking to his beliefs. But so many on here would have him hanged!!

At least that is what it feels like. He is working the night shift tonight (he works 45 hr weeks as well as his voluntary work) so he is oblivious. But to me this IS an attack on him Seek. All I have seen all day are pommel please calling leave voters like my DH stupid, uneducated, thick, toxic, racist.....you name it! How is that NOT personal?

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 24/06/2016 21:36

What the hell??? people!!!!!
Why is auto correct so crap?

PausingFlatly · 24/06/2016 21:37

And can we stop this nonsense about a second referendum?

It doesn't matter if Farage would have called for one. It doesn't even matter if it's legally possible to ignore the result. It's not politically possible to ignore it.

It might have been sensible for a major decision to set a minimum turnout but... Cameron didn't. It's a bit late to think of that now.

BillSykesDog · 24/06/2016 21:40

It's the same as it always is. When something that is perceived as generally left wing wins the right have a bit of a whinge then shut up and get on with it.

When something broadly perceived as right wing wins the left wing chuck all their toys out of the pram, get personally abusive, go out and riot, try and tie themselves in knots to prove that the result was somehow unfair (even though the happily accept poorer results in their favour) and descend into an orgy of hysteria and blame.

Plus ca change, plus c'est la meme chose.

HildurOdegard · 24/06/2016 21:46

Lastgirl - your husband sounds like the exact stalwart we as a people need. :) hold your head high.

Plus ca change, la meme choise indeed!

ManonLescaut · 24/06/2016 21:47

It's not politically possible to ignore it

Of course it is. Whether enough MPs would have the mettle for it is different matter.

TwatbadgingCuntfuckery · 24/06/2016 21:51

enough MPs would have the mettle for it is different matter

given that majority of MPs are against this...

echt · 24/06/2016 21:54

www.theguardian.com/politics/2016/jun/24/top-eu-leader-we-want-britain-out-as-soon-as-possible

While I'm pretty sure they can't force this, the fallout from what has been, essentially a Tory party bunfight, is going to be very unpleasant.

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 24/06/2016 22:03

Thanks Hildur. I stand with my DH and you too, now. Today has been an eye opener to say the least!!

FlowersFlowers Thank you again.

HildurOdegard · 24/06/2016 22:05

Grin As long as you're not posting tomorrow "AIBU to LTB ?"!

ManonLescaut · 24/06/2016 22:11

given that majority of MPs are against this...

If there's enough clear support from the electorate MPs will do anything.

There's already a petition for a second referendum with over 292,000 signatures at the last look (the site keeps crashing, so many people are signing). It only needs 100,000 to be obliged to be considered for debate by MPs.

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 24/06/2016 22:11

I'm sure your husband is delightful lastgirl and I certainly don't want to hang him or anyone else. I think the EU would probably stop us reinstating capital punishment anyway ..... Oh wait.

I do struggle to see how anyone lovely reconciles themselves with the idea that they're on Team Farage, but hey

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 24/06/2016 22:11

Haha....NO chance!! GrinGrin people at work always say DH and I kind of inspire them coz of how we love each other so much! We really do, though. I love him and he loves me and I will be with him forever.

I can't get over how hateful the remain people are being today. Sad

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 24/06/2016 22:14

Delightful people can do stupid things.

Oh it's also the case that when anything broadly right wing happens people post in smug sneering nasty fashion, even though they won. Then claim people are hysterical when they object.

HildurOdegard · 24/06/2016 22:14

Seek - so you align yourself closely with DC? Confused

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 24/06/2016 22:14

Seek get over Farage, will you?? My DH just said he cannot IN PRINCIPLE go along with a federal government. Do you really want him to go against his principles?? Really?

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 24/06/2016 22:15

I remember after the last election people were posting they were carers and were devastated and crying at thought of Tory cuts. Smug twats were posting "I'm popping open the champagne"

HildurOdegard · 24/06/2016 22:16

How is it right wing to say I love my country? I love teen football teams, cream teas with clotted cream, ice creams stolen by seagulls on the prom, marmalade, posties in summer shorts? Some of us just love out country and are proud to be British.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 24/06/2016 22:17

Hmm yes the EU were banning seagulls and cream teas.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 24/06/2016 22:18

Liking marmalade is now the most ridiculous reason I have heard for voting Leave Grin

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 24/06/2016 22:19

My DH is NOT delightful...he can be one grumpy shit and a pain in the arse following night shifts!! So stop calling him that. Smile otherwise it will sound as if you are being hateful and goady.Smile

HildurOdegard · 24/06/2016 22:21

Ok then. Call me a racist chav if you prefer.

I love my country and I shan't apologise. We live somewhere where flying our flag is seen as something to be ashamed of. I wonder if those who object have ever visited elsewhere.

I believe in my country. I believe in sovereignty and I believe we have many clever, kind and resourceful people who will make our future bright.

I'm sorry for those who feel only negativity and shame.

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 24/06/2016 22:22

There were a lot of credible people other than Cameron on the remain side. But yeah, okay: maybe the leavers liked James Dyson, boris, or trump, not Farage. Maybe they were heartsore to nail their colours to the 'breaking point' nazi mast, but hated federalism so much they felt they just had to.

They're just not really saying that though, are they?

HildurOdegard · 24/06/2016 22:25

You can align yourself for whomever you choose, or you can choose your people (your friends, your relatives, the people in the next town) and choose pride. I will not be diminished by your hate.
