How will you be voting? Can admin add a poll?

OP posts:
butteredmuffin · 02/05/2016 18:44

If you're referring to me, you still haven't explained what you thought was offensive about that post or why it was so upsetting that you felt the need to report it. And when I asked MNHQ why they deleted it, they were unable to explain either.

lurked101 · 02/05/2016 18:47

You have been deleted in the past, sorry to break it to you.

Anyway, this isn't adding to the debate is it? I think the thead has been completely derailed

SpringingIntoAction · 02/05/2016 18:49

I just want to clarify that I have not posted anything "disablist" or racist, and to be honest I haven't seen anything I would describe as such from the other posters Spring mentions either.

Your friends post disablist stuff - and racist stuff too. I got it deleted. Or would you rather I didn't tell MNHQ that your remain chums post that sort of abuse as you seem to think I shouldn't be reporting posts to MNHQ.

I think you're making some very nasty accusations there, and you need to stop now

Not accusations. Facts. Want to see the emails when MNHQ had to step in? All saved. You have a nerve telling me to 'stop now' . No ButteredBun. O'll stop when I'm ready.

But as you are a professional person I would be very careful to ensure my comments were not found splattered across the internet interspersed with some truly filthy bullying posts from your chums. You are quite identifiable you now.

SpringingIntoAction · 02/05/2016 18:50

You obviously follow my posts very carefully., Carry on. You may learn somethig

butteredmuffin · 02/05/2016 18:52

Is that a threat, Springing?!

Seriously. Grow up.

lurked101 · 02/05/2016 18:53

Im sorry I couldn't possibly learn from you, I'm an empty vessel, ignorant and incapapble of explaining anything without a link remember?

No. It's some kind advice about internet security to someone who is evidently too immature to understand that this is a public forum and that by revealing a lot about yourself and your circumstance you make yourself identifiable.

That is a fact. That is something that you should think about before every post you make.

It's the same advice I give to my 12 year old.

PortiaCastis · 02/05/2016 19:00

Grow up the lot of you, its like reading a transcript of a year 6 playground tiff

butteredmuffin · 02/05/2016 19:04

I'll happily stand by anything I've posted in these threads. My posts about the EU have been balanced and informative, and other people have said they've found them useful. Anyone reading these threads will be able to see that when I have lost my temper, it has been in response to repeated provocation, such as you saying "You like Cameron! You do! Hahaha!" about a million times, and HelpfulChap's constant stupid digs about Groucho Marx. I have consistently tried very hard to refrain from any name-calling, and the worst thing I have called you is a "dimwit". Still, you keep accusing me of personal abuse, without actually being able to point to anything I have said which is actually abusive. I am, however, pretty annoyed with MNHQ for deleting several of my posts without apparently bothering to read them, as there are places in these threads where it may look to someone reading as though I must have said something abusive. That's why I feel the need to clarify now that I have categorically not said anything that was "disablist", racist, or otherwise worthy of being deleted.

Also, terms like 'sovereignty' and 'freedom' are very nebulous

I wouldn't say they were "nebulous", but they can certainly be applied to the debate in many ways. Freedom for our country to make its own laws without interference, freedom to make our own trade deals around the world etc.

butteredmuffin · 02/05/2016 20:47

Do you think that the freedom to make our own trade deals is worth having if the terms of the trade deals we are capable of getting on our own are worse than the terms we could get as part of the EU?

AnnaForbes · 02/05/2016 20:48

Well, there's a surprise.

www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016/05/02/turkey-expected-to-get-eu-travel-even-if-key-conditions-not-met/

The EU does what it wants. Those who insist the EU will uphold our 'opt-outs' if we choose to remain are living in cloud-cuckoo land. The EU has systematically disregarded agreements made.

Kosovo is also expected to be granted visa-free travel soon. Combined with recent recipients Georgia and Ukraine, it amounts to a significant relaxation of travel rules for 127 million people at a time when the EU is grappling to secure its external border against illegal migrants and the risk of terrorist infiltration

Two other major announcements will come on Wednesday. Cant wait Hmm

AnnaForbes, I don’t understand what the problem is. Turkey has met 60 out of 72 the benchmarks & tried hard to comply with the criteria in time. Turks already visit EU all the time & if they were prone to illegal immigration they would already be in the EU. All visa liberalisation means is visas are to be replaced with more secure passports for short term travel in the Schengen area. The UK isn't in Schengen so we aren't affected & Turks will still require visas to come here.

A4Document · 02/05/2016 21:28

Britain is the world's 5th largest economy and will be quite capable of making good trade deals around the world without the EU. The terms for an independent UK could be no worse, or even better than if we were still shackled to the floundering EU.

butteredmuffin · 02/05/2016 21:33

We are the 5th largest economy in the world. At the moment. As a member of the EU. I think it would be dangerous to assume we would still be in the top five after Brexit.

The EU added together is the largest market in the world, 8 EU countries are in the top 30 in the world, 3 in the top 10, 5 in the top 20. I think together they have a stronger negotiating position than we do.

Problem is trading blocks or countries with larger populations will be the priority over the UK with a relatively small population/market of 65m in trade deals.
