How will you be voting? Can admin add a poll?

OP posts:
CremeEggThief · 25/04/2016 22:44

Stay.

Kummerspeck · 25/04/2016 22:56

I think Leave but not 100% definite

My reasons are that I think Europe is heading for some very difficult times with migration, increasing members, TTIP, ever increasing union, etc and I am not sure it is somewhere we will be happy to be in future. If we stay in now we have no chance to revise that opinion and less influence as numbers increase so I think life could be even tougher in than out

Having said that I could be completely wrong so I am going more on gut feeling than anything else.

Limer · 26/04/2016 08:16

Leave.

The mantra of "ever-closer union" is crazy between 28 (and counting) very different countries.

The environmental impact of massive uncontrolled population increase is going to be disastrous and irreversible. Not to mention the cost to the taxpayer of all the new social housing, schools, hospitals, infrastructure, etc. The loss of native species and habitats will be a tragedy. Today's the 30th anniversary of Chernobyl, and I don't want any new nuclear power stations.

ExitPursuedByABear · 26/04/2016 08:20

LEAVE

fourmummy · 26/04/2016 08:58

Leave. I'd rather a possible short hit of pain than wave after wave of it for years to come, being slowly dragged into an 'ever closer union'.

iGoogleSoYouDontHaveTo · 26/04/2016 09:07

I want to LEAVE but am having a serious wobble because the Brexit campaign is being led by Gove and Boris.

rumbleinthrjungle · 26/04/2016 09:17

Leave.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 26/04/2016 09:30

IGoogle, Boris and Gove will be history at some point. People are expendable.

The vote you make will make history, and that decision will outlive many many people.

Vote the way you want to, not because of the political figures involved.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 26/04/2016 09:34

Did anyone hear Frank Field representing those in the Labour Party wanting to leave - I think he said 40% would vote leave. He was berating Corbyn about not following through on what he actually believes, as Corbyn has always been a vocal eurosceptic.

MangoMoon · 26/04/2016 09:37

Leave.

I heard him. I have a huge amount of respect for Frank Field, continuing to "think the unthinkable", he's a breath of fresh air in the Labour party. There are loads of core Labour voters who've been suffering ever-increasing rents coupled with ever-decreasing relative wages due to uncontrolled immigration. Unfortunately Labour always pick anti-racism as their pet cause, even if this means trampling over the beliefs and sacrificing the living standards of their own supporters.

Corbyn's being kept on a tight leash - I expect him to crack after the referendum, especially if LEAVE wins. Could be another leadership contest in the offing.

fourmummy · 26/04/2016 09:56

ThoughThickAndThin is right. Ignore these people. No-one can be a good representative for your own ideas. Vote the way you want to.

AlpacaLypse · 26/04/2016 09:59

Leave - because the EU as it is now is an unwieldy mess that by its own political structure is not capable of sorting itself out, and is heading for hell in a handcart. The image I have in my head is of a runaway train, at the moment jumping out will lead to cuts and bruises, but staying on board much longer will be catastrophic.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 26/04/2016 10:03

That's a very good analogy Alpaca. Exactiy how I feel. Any pain will be instant in the very short term, but the situation much better in the longer term. A bit like ripping a plaster off quickly not slowly.

Twooter · 26/04/2016 10:05

leave.

lighthousefamily · 26/04/2016 10:05

Remain. Too worried about (as yet unknown) consequences if we leave.

Twooter · 26/04/2016 10:07

I don't believe a vote to remain will maintain the status quo. I believe a vote to remain means we have to put up with whatever else the EU decides to do. It's like the Eurovision Song Contest - once the Eastern European countries joined, we didn't stand a chance.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 26/04/2016 10:15

I'm too worried about the consequences if we stay lighthousefamily.

I thought I didn't care too much once we knew we were having a referendum. As time has gone on I've become more and more concerned that we will be staying in. I went from a flaky "I think I'm an out" to an "out out out".

I think I'll actually be really concerned if we're still in when I wake up on June 24th.

ExitPursuedByABear · 26/04/2016 10:16

And they all hate us so much, I can't think why they want us to stay.

Oh, hang on a minute ............

A4Document · 26/04/2016 10:18

I agree Twooter. The Eurovision votes for the UK are always tiny these days, which seems to reflect the political mood. Why should we stay in a bloc that resents the UK, and just wants its money?

Ludways · 26/04/2016 10:27

Stay

scaryteacher · 26/04/2016 10:33

Leave; we aren't voting for the status quo if we stay. Have a read of the Five Presidents report for the direction of travel.

There will be change whatever; I would prefer we were in control of as much as possible, which we aren't whilst we remain in the EU. Furthermore, we are more secure outside. European intelligence hasn't covered itself in glory recently, the Belgian bombings were a case of when, not if; and NATO defends Europe, not the EU.

Limer · 26/04/2016 10:54

Good point scaryteacher

If the UK leaves, others will follow. If the UK remains, others will leave before long regardless - and the UK will be stuck in a downward-spiralling EU for many years. Far better to be ahead of the curve, blaze the trail and make that leap of faith.

rumbleinthrjungle · 26/04/2016 10:57

I'm also very worried that if we stay, the EU will have a British mandate, something they have never had before, and EU interference and pressure will ramp up massively. I wouldn't give the survival of the pound long, among many other things.

MrsMarigold · 26/04/2016 11:00

Stay! In real life I don't know anyone voting to leave.
