That's it really.

We're abroad and she's in the NE England. She has had a massive stroke and I'm alone, racing to the airport to get a flight I might miss.

I want to see her before she goes. She's no conscious.

My sister is with her.

My heart is broken into one million piece. No need to respond - I'm just alone (husband back at resort with the kids) so just chatting I suppose. I've had an hour sleep overnight, I look like an actual muppet (crying eyes).

She is 73 and a fire cracker. She's remarkable. My heart is broken.

I’m so glad you made it.
I lost my lovely mum earlier this
month and I can beat myself up too thinking about the times I was irritated by her. But I know the bonds of love we shared over the years were more than enough to make up for those times.

Because we had quite a long time sat by her bedside as she slipped away and we were assured that she could hear us, I comfort myself with the knowledge that nothing was left unsaid. During that time, I constantly told her what an amazing mum she’d been and how thankful I am that she’d been mine.

Be kind to yourself - it’s what you’re mum would want ❤️

I'm so glad that you made it.
Is your mum conscious?

Flowers for you

Growlybear83 · 28/10/2023 20:04

I'm so very sorry to hear about your Mum, but very relieved for you that you've been able to get to her in time. I was able to be with my Mum when she passed away last year, and it gave me great comfort to know that she was at peace in her last hours. I hope that your Mum is made as comfortable as my Mum was, and that you can also take comfort in the precious time you've got with her now.

cloudglazer · 28/10/2023 20:05

I am so pleased you got there in time. I hope your last moments with your mum are peaceful. Sending warmth.

I’m so glad you’ve made it back to be with your mum and your sister.

don’t worry about eating meals at the moment but plenty of fluids and small bites of food would help you.

sending much love to you and your sister

Thinking of you Flowers

TrainedByCats · 28/10/2023 20:25

Glad you made your flight and have some time with her. The airlines are generally pretty good in these circumstances.

Thoughts with you all

”We’re talking to her and about her and laughing together and crying too.”

In the circumstances this sounds about as perfect as it could be Flowers

Remember to rest too and don't stress if your mother goes when you are out of the room. That often happens.

50plusandfabulous · 28/10/2023 20:27

Sending you love and prayers x

Missingmyusername · 28/10/2023 20:30

Keep doing what you’re doing, she may well be able to hear you. 💐Glad you made it.

Katherineryan · 28/10/2023 20:31

This happened to my Mum 6 years ago - she is still with us. She is disabled and non-verbal, but still with us and still feisty.
Don’t lose all hope 🤗

Mtlso · 28/10/2023 20:33

So so sorry to hear this. Please make the airline aware. Situations like this, you’re usually collected off the plane and they announce your name and you’re out of the airport in about 15 mins:

RegimentalSturgeon · 28/10/2023 20:34

So glad for you and your mother that you got there.Talk to her about the good times. Wishing you both peace. Flowers
