My mother is dying and I'm racing to get to her - no point to this thread.

That's it really.

We're abroad and she's in the NE England. She has had a massive stroke and I'm alone, racing to the airport to get a flight I might miss.

I want to see her before she goes. She's no conscious.

My sister is with her.

My heart is broken into one million piece. No need to respond - I'm just alone (husband back at resort with the kids) so just chatting I suppose. I've had an hour sleep overnight, I look like an actual muppet (crying eyes).

She is 73 and a fire cracker. She's remarkable. My heart is broken.

It's so unfair that you lost your dad so young, and now your mum is critically ill at only 73. I hope you can take some comfort from the fact that you clearly have such a beautiful loving family. Please try to look after yourself in the coming hours even if you don't feel like eating or drinking.

IncognitoMam · 28/10/2023 19:12

That's good that you made it. Try to take slow deep breaths and eat, especially protein or soup. It's good you have your sister.
My sister and I spent a week with DM before she died. She was elderly though. Your DM isn't that old 😞 Praying for a miracle 🙏

Notmetoo · 28/10/2023 19:13

My mother irritated me and I'm sure I irritate my daughter. It's natural. I'm sure she knows you love her.
I'm so sorry I had a similar rush when mother was dying so I know how you feel.
There is nothing anyone can say other than sorry and try and be kind to yourself.

SkyFullofStars1975 · 28/10/2023 19:16

Just take this time for what it is. And do what feels right/instinctive.

Those hours I spent with my Dad in his last few days will stay with me forever.

Wishing you strength and peace Flowers

Glad you made it - I had to do the same thing but I had to fly to a foreign country and I made it with a couple of days to spare - sending love to your family

NeedToChangeName · 28/10/2023 19:25

I'm glad airport staff were kind and helpful. In future, you won't remember their names or exactly what they said / did, but you will remember their kindness and compassion at a difficult time xxx
