theantignome · 29/02/2008 09:25

hi everyone, i wanted to start a new thread with a NEW topic heading here, as the active one at the moment with over 700 posts looks like it is all about the Cambridge school. This may confuse newcomers.

Let's continue the debate here !
All newcomers welcome !

I will shortly link our two previous threads on MN for any one new to have a look at.

Davy, could you also give a link to your new yahoo list here please ? Thanks.

The new yahoo group is such a good idea.
It would be good to have a discussion about anthroposophy that doesn't descend to petty squabbles and mistruths.
With people who don't have GCSE's in obtuseness.
If that's possible.
The issues with Steiner education I see, in no particular order are:

1)The proven secrecy surrounding anthroposophy when it comes to informing parents
2)Anthroposophy and it's screw ball insane beliefs
which lead to
3)Anthroposophy and racism
4) The sites set up as a seemingly informative mouthpiece for people searching for information, which are in fact, biased, littered with misinformation, but come up in search engines near the beginning. These perpetuate the myths surrounding Steiner Waldorf.

I'm sure I've left out something important.

I'm meant to be working, but am just having a tea break.......

Eva52 · 29/02/2008 12:28

For info on the small, fringe anti-Waldorf hate-type of group in SF/CA, from which most of the "information" regarding anthroposophy as the basis of Steiner Waldorf education is taken and repeatedly republished in different threads here at MN, see

Americans4Waldorf Education Informing the Public about PLANS.

For the myths cultivated by the group about Waldorf education over the last 10 years, see here.

For general information about Waldorf education, see the Wikipedia article on the subject, and Waldorf Answers

thanks eva, it didn't take you long to move over to the new thread did it ?

i think i will do a blog dedicated to eva/sune : o

"GCSE's in Obtuseness" - now there is an exam the anthros will get an A + on

.....lol

OP posts:
theantignome · 29/02/2008 13:38

i have now also started my next political move - a boycot of Weleda products. I used to buy the skin products before knowing who it is owned by. yesterday a friend and i were in a health shop wishing to buy some eczema stuff for her boy and i managed to talk her out of it by letting her know Weleda is linked to the anthros.
hoorah !

OP posts:
theantignome · 29/02/2008 13:44

ah northern - thanks for letting us know that yet another bimbo has "praised" steiner schools - now go and ivana trump that around !

northernrefugee39 · 29/02/2008 14:50

What did I say about being tethered to a goat?
These sites are biased: americans for waldorf does not give a true picture.
Don't bother to look at them unless you want a laugh.
Read Rudolf Steiner at the Rudolf Steiner archive here
www.rsarchive.org/

By reading Steiner himself , you get a clear picture of his crazy spritual science called anthroposophy, which believed human beings evolved on the moon as jellies, and then transfered to the legendary island of Atlantis, where root races evolved, the strongest, most advanced being the aryan race.

The only jelly I see is in the gap in anthroposophists brains.

northernrefugee39 · 29/02/2008 14:54

I,ve been botcotting weleda too.
And I had an interesting discussion with the woman in Culpepers the other day, who sell Dr Hauschka products, also biodynamic. We talked about anthroposophy and Steiner, and I'm sending her Peter Staudenmaier's artcle on Eco fascism. There was someone else in there who was really interested, as she didn't know about anthroposophy being connected to Steiner schools either, suprise surprise.

Demeter foods is another one, the big bio dynamic company.
And Tridios bank.

northernrefugee39 · 29/02/2008 14:54

Maybe anthros are still at the jelly stage of evolution.

northernrefugee39 · 29/02/2008 14:57

The anthroposophists monitor wikepedis 24/7, or at least they did until it reached a gridlock.

The only real idea of Steiner is from his own writing.
Wouldn't you agree Eva/Sune?

Ther you get the full spectrum of his ideas, from the occult to the racist.

northernrefugee39 · 29/02/2008 14:59

"4) The sites set up as a seemingly informative mouthpiece for people searching for information, which are in fact, biased, littered with misinformation, but come up in search engines near the beginning. These perpetuate the myths surrounding Steiner Waldorf"

Oh look Eva- you've illustrated point number 4.
Are you a mouthpiece?

theantignome · 29/02/2008 15:08

skepdic.com/comments/steinercom.html

has anyone read this before ?

OP posts:
northernrefugee39 · 29/02/2008 16:31

Yes, I'd read that.
Interesting isn't it?

northernrefugee39 · 29/02/2008 16:34

This recent article is interesting too.

It criticises the secrecy and insiduaousness of the anthros.
They deny being anthros when they want to get entry to institutions, where they then try to "convert2 and spread the word.

www.lab-times.org/editorial/e_022.html

northernrefugee39 · 29/02/2008 16:57

The article I've linked to here explains in detail, how two professorships at agerman university were obtained by spurious and unsupported research.
When articles , or research results published by anthroposophists are looked into, however good they look on paper, often they are only ever reviewed by ... other anthroposophists!
or published in some obscure anthroposophical publication.

Thes are the sort of statistics people like sune/Eva rely on, because they rely on the fact they won't be checked.

The denial, peer reviewed articles and research, and blatant nepotism is scary!

The article does point out though, that there's a chance they will become ridiculed.

What amazes me is the green party in Germany is full of anthros.
Eugh!

theantignome · 29/02/2008 17:01

yes, i have voted for the green party here in the UK on numerous occassions, this is now under review.

does anyone know how active the anthros are in the UK green party ?

OP posts:
northernrefugee39 · 29/02/2008 17:19

No, that would be really interesting wouldn't it?
I'm going to try and find out.

theantignome · 29/02/2008 20:54

the stuff in that article is shocking northern, including names of anthros who were SS members.

also confirms quite a lot of what peter s. has said re. their influence within ecology, biodynamic farming and the green party in germany.

Another big company: Dr Hauschka. Look at the fonts. (Well, not only that, but it's often the first clue: see Weleda and Demeter.)

I'm not going to pretend to be a saint. I have bought Weleda, Dr Hauschka, and pretty much buy Demeter products regularily.

You see, I'm not a spiritual person, but I am a materialist. If I like something, I buy it. I don't like anthroposophy, but I need the tofu.

The son of the a hot-shot anthroposophist is the minister of environmental issues in Sweden. Not from the green party.

ingles2 · 29/02/2008 21:40

Hi Ladies,...
Have to say I admire your tenacity on these threads.
Just wondered what Mumsnets opinion was on Eva52? Has he been reported?

zzooey · 29/02/2008 21:55

"Dr Hauschka products,"

And here I am lecturing. northern already mentioned Dr Hauschka

I often buy products from the Swedish anthro company, Saltå.

Anthros have the whole health food business. I don't know what else to buy. I buy Coke to make up for it
