Elpis - yes that’s right. Remember too that some parents won’t have told their DCs that they have received a “no” from RGS - they are sensibly waiting until they have another offer in hand so they can give good news with bad.

Does RGS have a waiting list system and if so would my DS that made it to second interview be added to the list if not made an offer this week? TIA

iflonlyweknew , my understanding is they get the offers 'right' unsure if they operate a waiting list.They can do 12+ entry for instance. I know quite a few boys who had an interview and offered or didn't get an offer after interview but not waitlisted. Those not offered are very happy elsewhere as it suited them better. I think most schools know what boy will be right for the school and right for them. The interview will just be trying to analyse that. So they will offer after interview or not.

The interview is testing their academic ability though, not their personality?

....I wonder how many of the 13+ letters are "come back at 12" though...just trying to work out the odds.

I am really worried about the call back...

As where do you go from there? Accept a different school, pay the deposit, and then sit again?

LittleOwl the waiting really is horrible, especially for those who have been called back.

My understanding was that only those who sat for entry at 13 could get invited to sit 12+ and those sitting for entry at 11 will know definitively either way on Friday.

We sat this one for 11.. If we had done it for 13 and were offered the chance to retry 12+ .. we wouldn't as the uncertainty would be too much. But that is mainly because I wouldn't want the agony of this whole process to continue any longer!

We won't do it again if we get a "come back at 12"...he's got a couple of other good offers to fall back on and I don't think DS would want to go to RGS if he thought he was borderline (and would probably flat out refuse to do the whole process again)...

Finally the wait is almost over. Letters posted today. Good luck, everybody - especially those waiting for 13+ and those waiting after call backs!

LittleOwl, the school heads have known for a while. Might be worth saying hello to your Head today if you can - might help you open that envelope tomorrow.

Have the Heads also known the results from other similar schools (e.g. KCS) for a while? Or just RGS?

We've had no tip-offs...

I'm not so sure all heads know.. especially as boys from over 150 schools applied. Our has given us info about other schools but not RGS as he has heard "nothing".

They hear from some schools, not others. Depends on the relationship.

The heads know - we were indicated a week or so back.

Yes my thoughts exactly Koor - thanks to everyone on this thread. It’s been really helpful as my DS is the only one from his school who got a call back so it’s been great to have this thread for info.
