carrotsandcelery · 05/01/2012 23:05

Inspired by the threads before Christmas, I was hoping we could get another thread going to motivate us as we sell and ask each other questions as we go along.

I am hoping to start selling again once the dc go back to school next week.

Anyone else want to join me?

I was hoping to list a few bits tonight but this headache is really dragging on and I'm so tired of it so I will hopefully list tomorrow night instead.

mogs0 · 20/03/2012 19:35

Sorry to hear your head is still bad, tortoise.

I have made an attempt to update my current listings but am getting into a bit of a muddle.

They're here but some are still waiting for photos, some need better photos and most need a better description!

Despite the rubbish photos/descriptions i do have a couple of bids and quite a few watchers.

I have listed 2 Trofast units and am considering listing another two. I wonder if i should list them all at the same time or let the two listed finish then list the other two later on.

carrotsandcelery · 20/03/2012 21:34

Tortoise I am sorry you still feel sore.

mogs I am now watching your swim shorts Shock Grin

I've been looking for them, for ds to wear swimming, for months and months...I couldn't find them because I'd already stuck them in the eBay box without remembering Blush. I've got so many of ds' clothes to go on. I think I'll start doing some mini bundles next time.

carrotsandcelery · 20/03/2012 22:31

Keep linking your listings then please mogs as ds is clearly the size below your ds Grin

mogs0 · 20/03/2012 22:36

Will do Grin. Although, we all know by now, it takes me bloomin ages to around to listing things!

carrotsandcelery · 21/03/2012 10:11

I finally have a bid. It is only £1.99 but it is a start. I am very slowly gathering a few watchers, mostly on a trouser and waistcoat set from Monsoon that ds had for my Dsil's graduation.

I got 15 items listed over the weekend, 1 bid, & 7 watchers on a different item. Plus I sold something in the FreeAds last week so am up over £100 now in my pre-Easter drive :).

A lot of your items look very good.

BlackAffronted · 21/03/2012 12:41

I have 21 items listed, 5 have bids (all sitting at £1 though), with 4 days to go. Hoping for more action!

CointreauVersial · 21/03/2012 12:54

Well, I've now closed my Unpaid Item case, and have offered the coat as a second chance to the next highest bidder. And I blocked the rubbish non-payer too.

I have a bid for my bunk bed, but lots of watchers, so hoping it will go higher. We live in a very accessible place for collection-only items (near M25), which is handy.

Time to rummage in the loft for my summer stuff to sell, methinks. I'm just worried about the re-appearance of that vile queen wasp (or her mates) - my wrist is still itchy 9 days after being stung!!

Tortoise · 21/03/2012 13:36

Headache finally gone so tonight I will be listing as much as possible! Getting close to Easter so need to get selling some stuff.Grin

mogs0 · 21/03/2012 21:00

Well done to everyone with bids!!

Cointreau - good luck with the wasp and finding your summer stuff.

Tortoise - glad your head is better. How's the listing going?

I have a bid each on my two Trofast storage units by the same bidder and they've also asked for dimensions of the other toy storage so fingers crossed they'll bid on that too!! I'm very excited because it will free up a fair amount of space in the sitting room...I just have to empty out all the junk now Grin.

Tortoise · 21/03/2012 22:54

Blush I completely forgot about listing stuff. Ooops. Been helping DD1 make an egg cup for school design an egg cup Easter competition! We are making One DirEGGtion tour bus lol. Two members of the band will be eggs on the top deck.Grin

carrotsandcelery · 22/03/2012 09:49

Tortoise that sounds great fun Grin I may have to get my dcs doing something like that during the hols. We are currently trying to make a "boyish" Easter Bonnet for school next week. Quite a challenge!

I am a bit excited. I woke up to discover that my BIN item had sold overnight. The buyers address doesn't give a street name though. It gives a number and a postcode. Is that enough? I have messaged them to ask but am worried that is all they want to give out.

They live relatively locally too but have paid by paypal so I can't deliver it to them.

Any suggestions how I could safely package a leap pad learning system and a load of books to go with it?

My total is now £250. I am so close to target but only have 2 1/2 weeks to get there. Eeeek!

Tortoise · 22/03/2012 09:59

Thankfully mine are in Juniors and don't have to make Easter bonnets. I have done so many of the bloody things now and girls ones are much easier!
Well done on your BIN sale Smile. Packaging delicate bigger items is a nightmare. Lots of bubble wrap and maybe cardboard each side then wrap in brown paper or large plastic bag with lots of brown tape lol!

carrotsandcelery · 22/03/2012 10:02

Dd never had to make one so this is new territory for me Tortoise. We live in Scotland and I don't think Easter bonnets are traditional up here, although maybe it is just me. The area I live in has a HUGE English population though so we get to blend cultures and enjoy lots of extra traditions Grin

OP posts:
Tortoise · 22/03/2012 11:51

I'm in Somerset and have done bonnets for DS1, DS2, DD1 and DD2! Each had to have one for the 1st 3 years of primary school! I did actually enjoy the Easter assembly with all the children parading round in their Easter bonnets. Smile

CointreauVersial · 22/03/2012 12:52

Gah! Easter bonnets.....

Thank goodness mine are now too old for that.

I have a few still in the loft - should have listed them, but it'll be too late now.

Carrots - go onto the Royal Mail website here, click on the Address Finder tab, enter the postcode and house number and you'll see the full address.

jardy · 22/03/2012 20:53

Tortoise glad you are feeling better.I have about 9 items but they are all re-listed and I dont think there will be much interest.Got a lovely thank you from someone who bought a cardigan from me,I had only worn it once.I was delighted!I sometimes write and thank people and I thought it was just me been a bit eccentric,so I am pleased I am not the only one!My unpaid item case has been closed, and I think I will start taking cointreaus example and start blocking a few buyers.Anyone been irritated by being asked loads of silly questions?I had a pencil case unused for sale for 99p,and someone calling them selves The Blank Family asked me whether there were any scratches at all on it.TBH one or two tiny ones but I ask you! I was worried they would leave me negative feedback but eventually it was bought by someone who gave me excellent feedback, phew!

Snapespeare · 22/03/2012 21:31

I'm in... rather late but just over a hundred on free listings at the weekend, it takes SO MUCH TIME I'm going to have earned every penny of it!

Tortoise · 22/03/2012 21:32

Maybe someone on here can help me with a problem!
My boyf bought something off ebay last week, paid on 15th. In ebay it says payment pending. In paypal it says completed. Tried to open a case as not received and because seller not replying to emails but ebay say item not been paid for so can't open case! I'm confused!

fergoose · 22/03/2012 22:40

log into paypal.co.uk itself, click on the payment then you can hit cancel? I guess seller hasn't set up paypal to receive payments.

Tortoise · 23/03/2012 06:50

Can't see any cancel payment button. The money has definatly gone from his paypal account.

Got free listing email. I thought it was for listing on mobile but I'm not sure. I use my mobile anyway so will hold off listing until weekend!

fergoose · 23/03/2012 07:01

oh well file not received with paypal then to get the money back.

Tortoise · 23/03/2012 07:52

I have contacted ebay for him so will see what they say then will try paypal if ebay can't help!
