Anyone interested in a £300 by Easter ebay selling thread?

carrotsandcelery · 05/01/2012 23:05

Inspired by the threads before Christmas, I was hoping we could get another thread going to motivate us as we sell and ask each other questions as we go along.

I am hoping to start selling again once the dc go back to school next week.

Anyone else want to join me?

Grrr....I sold a brand new girl's coat last weekend, and the highest bidder hasn't paid. Looking at her profile, she has a feedback score of 1; the feedback says "rubbish eBayer, did not pay", but was weirdly a positive feedback.

Anyway, I'm not expecting payment any time soon; I'll give her a couple of days then open an Unpaid Item claim. I hate timewasters.....

fergoose · 16/03/2012 18:15

I would open the unpaid item case now if I were you - you can't relist until it is closed, so that is another 4 days

The buyer won't have neg feedback for not paying as sellers can't leave a neg, nor are they allowed to leave neg statement on a pos rating which is what the previous seller did.

CointreauVersial · 16/03/2012 18:24

Good advice, fergoose, I'll do it now. I'd forgotten you can't leave negs for buyers even though there are some timewasting twats out there

I can offer it to the second highest bidder, can't I, once the case is closed??

fergoose · 16/03/2012 20:08

yes - just wait until case is closed or you risk 2 buyers and 1 item.

ragged · 16/03/2012 20:57

Whee! Hooray (re free listing). :)

mogs0 · 18/03/2012 00:17

I've listed 15 items tonight. I had a bit of a brainwave earlier and decided I could upload a photo, type out the basics then update in a day or two when I have more time to put in more detail. This way I can still take advantage of the free listing eventhough I don't have much spare time to do it properly this weekend.

SNOWBall4girlz · 18/03/2012 04:06

I ve relisted too mogs
that what I do to take advantage of the free listing weekend

Usually a mixed bundle or something I have listed with vastly inflated price then take a few better pics and edit monday when the kids are in school and not trying to reclaim their toys or clothes :)

higgle · 18/03/2012 12:15

Just to say I'm pleased I was inspired by this thread to list a few items - I got my £300 on the first set of listings and as I suddenly have a very poorly dog and some expensive dentistry to pay for it has been a godsend. It seems to be much easier than I remember it being a couple of years ago.

mogs0 · 18/03/2012 12:22

Snow - clothes bundles are a good idea...I've got loads os ds' summer stuff to put on but I wonder if it's still a bit too soon.

Higgle - well done for reaching the target but sorry to hear your dog is poorly and about the dentistry.

I agree, eBay listing is much easier for me too...I think it's because I can use the app on the iPad so can list a couple of items at a time very easily.

I've just tried to list 3 more bottles of perfume but eBay stopped me when i tried to complete the second listing and told me I'd reached my monthly listing allowance...very annoying.

I have about 5 more items scheduled for tonight and am hoping to get a few more done later.

mogs0 · 18/03/2012 13:30

Don't believe it...someone has bid £20 on a bag that I listed last night. There is no photo and, so far, in the description I have put 'photo and description to follow'. I haven't said anything about condition or colour or size or anything!!

Crazy!

Tortoise · 18/03/2012 18:54

Mogs That is good for you but very strange!

I took photos of items to list but that's as far as I got! Had a thumping headache all day so doubt I will get anything listed tonight. Might do quick relist of unsold items.

mogs0 · 18/03/2012 19:05

Tortoise - I know, very strange!

Could you do as I have done this weekend and just do a very basic listing then add to it when your headache has gone? I hope it goes soon, btw.

jardy · 18/03/2012 20:50

Hi everyone, upto 261 pounds. When our expertshave a minute I would welcome some advice about re-listing.I clicked on unsold to re-list items and there are a number of items that were unsold in January but subsequently have been sold. However as I kept clicking re-list I realised that I could be re-listing items that have been sold.Is there a way round this?

carrotsandcelery · 18/03/2012 21:47

I have had a rotten day listing loads of stuff but I wanted to take advantage of the free listings and I hadn't been doing as I promised myself I would and listing a couple each day and scheduling them so I could save them for free listings.

Anyway, it is done now and I have relisted all the stuff I haven't sold yet as well.

Fingers crossed!

Tortoise I hope you are feeling better.

Mogs great idea about minimal listings. I might use that in future. Thanks

CointreauVersial · 18/03/2012 21:48

Jardy - I always worry about that too.....

A measly £9 tonight, but there were a lot of relists this week - i.e. stuff that didn't sell the first/second/third time around.

I have only listed three things this weekend (too busy - again!), but they are biggies - a TV, a rabbit hutch and a bunk bed, so hopefully I might make double figures next weekend.

carrotsandcelery · 18/03/2012 21:55

jardy mine comes up with a little sign underneath if I have relisted the item. At the end of each relisting session I go through and delete all the ones with that sign on them. That seems to keep me straight. Fingers crossed it does anyway.

I have watchers already. Yay!

Thank you for the replies!

Tortoise · 18/03/2012 22:16

Relists done.

Headache clearing for now. No doubt will wake up with it in the morning as I often get a 3 day headache before period due!

I make sure once relisted I delete all unsold items to avoid mistakes.

carrotsandcelery · 19/03/2012 09:54

I hope you are feeling better today Tortoise.

OP posts:
jardy · 19/03/2012 19:32

Tortoise I used to get the 3 day headache thing so hope you feel better soon, its miserable. Can I just ask you,you delete all unsold items to avoid making a mistake, however suppose you want to relist some of your unsold items maybe a week or two after? The reason I am asking is that I have quite a few Easter items that didnt sell last month but I think I will put them on in a week or two.Do you go into archives or something? Thank you x

CointreauVersial · 19/03/2012 20:03

Advice please - I have listed a bunk bed, starting price £30, but hoping for £45-50. Someone has asked if I'll take a fixed price and end the listing early. How would I do this? Presumably I would need to add a Buy it Now at the price I'd like, then wait for them to snap it up. Good plan, or not?

BlackAffronted · 19/03/2012 20:16

Are we allowed to post a link to our items for sale?

Mine are here

Tortoise · 19/03/2012 20:22

Jardy I delete after relisting. If they still don't sell they will appear back in unsold.
Been busy helping at dcs school today so mostly been too busy for head to cause problems. Bad since I stopped though and forgot to buy more pain killers! By tomorrow afternoon it will hopefully have gone.

Tortoise · 19/03/2012 20:24

Cointreau I would reply with your highest price offer and ask them to let you know if they want you to add a buy it now price.

jardy · 19/03/2012 23:17

Tortoise Thank you and hope your head improves
