Anyone interested in a £300 by Easter ebay selling thread?

carrotsandcelery · 05/01/2012 23:05

Inspired by the threads before Christmas, I was hoping we could get another thread going to motivate us as we sell and ask each other questions as we go along.

I am hoping to start selling again once the dc go back to school next week.

Anyone else want to join me?

Ouch! Cointreau that sounds ouchy, ouchy, ouch! Have you dipped it in vinegar? I think that is supposed to neutralise the sting. Or rub on some Anthisan cream if you have any.

Ouch! Yes Vingegar for Vasps, Bicarb for Bees.

Good idea about the freeads.

CointreauVersial · 12/03/2012 21:05

I've smothered my wrist in antihistamine cream, so I'm feeling better, but I only managed to list two items, so pretty rubbish.

SNOWBall4girlz · 13/03/2012 10:31

poor you cointreau :( we had wasps in the loft and bees in the garage before it was demolished ...the wasps were getting in through a hole in the roof ..sealed up now but think they might try and return in the spring :(

well I have 40 things on all at 99p and I am going to relist / add some more tonight to finish sunday ...must be free listings this weekend ..to end before easter fingers crossed. ice water on the sting sometimes helps.

lost parcels I send everything recorded now even cheap stuff it makes it easier if you do have to claim because even recorded items still get delivered with out a signature.

I am upto 210 pounds. Can anyone give me advice about a non-payer who has actually listed herself as having paid.An automatic Ebay reply thanks me for sorting it out personally,as they are assuming it has been paid for and done and dusted. She kept not showing to collect and has not replied to my lasted email asking her if she is still wants the item.It is over a week ago.Thank you.

fergoose · 13/03/2012 18:22

Jardy - can you still open a non payer case? I think you should be able to.

ragged · 13/03/2012 18:24

you need to find Ebay resolution centre, Jardy.

jardy · 13/03/2012 19:52

Thank you,I will let you know. The buyerhas confused things for Ebay by marking it as paid for (as she said she wanted to stop the reminders!)

Tortoise · 13/03/2012 22:41

Ebay have removed my unfair neutral feedback. They agreed it broke their feedback rules. No idea if the buyer will get an email or not but ebay should be telling them its not on!

Will try and list this week. Hoping for free listing this weekend.

carrotsandcelery · 14/03/2012 09:54

Tortoise I am so glad as it seemed totally unfair to me.

jardy good luck with that one. It sounds a total pain but the buyer is in the wrong not you so stick up for yourself (very, very politely of course!!)

I am gathering a new pile to list but never getting time to do it. I think I will have to do the photos in daylight, write up at night in front of tv thing again.

Thanks carrotsandcelery.I have just gone round to collect a piece of furniture which I bought from Ebay and I stood on the step and said Hi Im jardy`,even though the date and time was correct and I had sent two reminders. She looked shocked until the penny dropped! But she was really lovely and I am delighted with my bargain Smile

Lougle · 14/03/2012 18:37

I'm up to £1537 excluding postage. Just trying to get the money out of paypal. They phoned me to check I had actually asked for it to be moved. Err...yes, thank you...I need it last week ;D

jardy · 14/03/2012 18:44

Lougle that is an amazing amount! Well done to you! (picks herself off the floor in shock) I aspire to your success!

mogs0 · 14/03/2012 19:00

I've spent the afternoon moving stuff around ds' bedroom. It seems to be where a lot of 'sorted out' stuff gets put before it goes on to its next home -eBay/charity shop/tip etc. I found a huge basket full of things that i'd sorted out to eBay months a little while ago and had forgotten about so my next goal is to get that all listed and the basket emptied.

I also have a large amount of crap treasure waiting to go to a carboot. Goodness knows when I'll be able to do that...probably after Easter now.

It's very overwhelming...I might have to go and join another decluttering thread over on Good Housekeeping Grin

ragged · 14/03/2012 19:13

Everyone else probably knows about these, but gleaned from recent copy of .net mag:

pages.ebay.co.uk/help/sell/listing-analytics.html
pulse.ebay.co.uk

There's something called selling manager (another free tool from Ebay), but it seems a bit OTT for most of us small part-timers.

ragged · 14/03/2012 19:13

ps: I was only half joking when I suggested to DH we sell our car on Ebay. That would trump Lougle's figure (I hope Wink).

Lougle · 14/03/2012 19:50

Grin ragged - to be fair, if I didn't have the buggy, it would be down to £537. Also, I owe Ebay close to £200 in fees, or at least I will do when they actually invoice me Hmm

carrotsandcelery · 14/03/2012 20:38

My buyer who had not received her item has now received it thank goodness. What a relief and I am really pleased she messaged me to let me know too.

CointreauVersial · 14/03/2012 23:30

I've just had a complaint from a buyer because the pair of girl's jeans she bought for £2.20 had one of the adjustable waist buttons missing (I didn't notice).

I've sent her an apology and offered either a) return for full refund, b) 50p refund and keep the jeans, or c) I'll send her two buttons.

Was that fair? Hopefully she'll choose b) and won't get too stroppy about it!

Tortoise · 15/03/2012 08:01

Cointreau I hope they choose b too. I had someone complain about a blazer a while ago. They said it had a big tear in in. When they returned it, it just had a small hole where seam had unstitched. Something I should have noticed but could easily have been sewn. I messaged her to say that and She said I don't sew. lol

ragged · 15/03/2012 12:46

Your offers would satisfy me Cointreau, it's not hard to sew your own buttons on. Sadly most people don't sew though, I used to think I had poor sewing skills but now realise what Tortoise said is true, a high number of people find it even more daunting than cooking.

CointreauVersial · 15/03/2012 13:04

Very true, ragged.

I was laughing at One Born Every Minute the other week; one of the midwives was saying she was proud of herself learning to sew the hem of her trousers. This is a woman who stitches torn lady-bits for a living!

No response from jeans lady yet.....

carrotsandcelery · 15/03/2012 14:06

Cointrea that is scary Shock Mind you, dd is nearly 11 so I think I would have noticed if there was a problem by now!!!

Just got the email about free listing weekend - this weekend! It seems like ages since the last one.

I got 4 neutral on my feedback :( I knew she would leave them, as soon as she won I put her on my blocked list as almost half of all of her left feedback is neutral and she complained about something which I clearly detailed in the listing :(

Tortoise · 16/03/2012 07:00

Yes, glad to see free listing. DD1 home from school today so I will pull cupboard out and get photos done. Need to make £200 lol. Just spent that buying a new tumble dryer as mine died weeks ago and the washing is piling up and up! Took out of holiday spending money, oops!
