Anyone interested in a £300 by Easter ebay selling thread?

carrotsandcelery · 05/01/2012 23:05

Inspired by the threads before Christmas, I was hoping we could get another thread going to motivate us as we sell and ask each other questions as we go along.

I am hoping to start selling again once the dc go back to school next week.

Anyone else want to join me?

Just had an email from one of my buyers saying the DVD they received is cracked in the middle Sad. I've asked them to return and once the security marking have been checked, I'll issue a full refund...think I could have worded it better but I've looked at the photo I used for the listing and can't see any cracks. Oh well, it was only a couple of £s so not going to hurt too much but still annoying.

Also, I can't find the box for one of my sold items. I know it's here somewhere but am going to end up turning the house upside down before it appears. Not a great day!

Mousey84 · 10/03/2012 15:44

oh mogs, thats something that Im always worried about happening! Im sure you would have noticed the crack when taking the photo, and hopefully they are just trying it on.

any luck finding the box?

mogs0 · 10/03/2012 16:12

Well, the buyer has since asked for my address to return it so I'll wait and see.

Not found the box yet. I am in such a grump, I just want to crawl back to bed. Ds and I fell out earlier and he's gone off to his friend's house for the afternoon. I should be using this time to sort out the next lot of stuff to be ebayed but instead I'm hanging about on here.

Right, enough moaning...I'm going to look for the box!

carrotsandcelery · 10/03/2012 17:58

Good luck mogs - sounds a frustrating day.

Wow sounds like everyone has been doing great :) Bit of slow few weeks for me as I've been poorly but the total has been creeping up and I'm so happy that I have avoided any negative FB (so far) with the few difficult buyers I've had.

Anyone have an inkling about when the next fee listings weekend might be?

ragged · 10/03/2012 19:48

Well... assuming I don't have any more difficult buyers (ha!) I am only up to about £97, might get over £100 by Easter. We shall see. I guess it'd be £100 I didn't have before. :)

jardy · 10/03/2012 21:50

I have 20 items,about half re-listed.
A really frustrating situation with my buyer for the £10 hi-fi.
Keeps texting to say she will turn up at such and such a time but she doesnt. Then she said her son did turn up but we werent in (we were)
I think as she obviously has no car I will offer to drop it off but a bit worried about security.I am losing my patience. It makes me feel that if I am buying a pick up item I will be round like grease lighting,as it has wasted so much time and very inconvenient.

Lougle · 11/03/2012 17:27

I'm exhausted! I've now got another 40 listings. Not sure if I've done it right, tbh. I've decided to start everything at 99p, as it's all money we wouldn't have had before.

But one of the items is a Yves Saint Laurent suit in mint condition - it cost DH £275 when he bought it (some time ago, admittedly. Wouldn't be able to spent £27.50 on a suit these days Grin) So I've put a reserve of £50 on that. I've also put a Warehouse jacket on and a pair of Karen Millen trousers. So I'd like more than 99p for those.

Mostly bundles of clothes after that. All at 99p.

My last item is a silver plated double atomiser - I hope that goes to someone who will really like it.

We shall see....40 auctions and most have between 3 and 7 days left.

jardy · 11/03/2012 17:38

Wow Lougle, your stuff sounds fantastic.I have a little vintage broach and its upto 12 pounds already,so delighted as it was going to the Charity Shop. I really hope I break through the 300 pound barrier. Its been hard work though but so glad I did it.It will be interesting to see how your YSL suit goes.I have a beautiful Karen Millen dress but it`s a summer dress,so waiting for sunnier and warmer weather.

Lougle · 11/03/2012 18:16

That's terrific Smile

I'm not sure, to be honest, how well it will all go.

I do have a cassette of Gucci Rush (95% full) with a very bad condition cover that has reached £19 so far Grin

Tortoise · 11/03/2012 18:34

I've been left neutral feedback. Emailed buyer asking if the was a problem and they said "no, I leave neutral for all.purchases even the not so good ones." Angry Sure enough when I checked their feedback there are loads of neutrals.

carrotsandcelery · 11/03/2012 18:53

Tortoise that sounds a bit odd. Can you contact ebay about it? Surely they will see from all the feedback that they are not playing by the rules.

I am Angry for you. That is just not fair.

Ooooh found a Jane Norman dress and shawl that I once wore in pre-baby days - mint condition...ebaaaaaaaay!

Also, a Belkin wireless router. Almost brand new - bought it then ended up signing up to BT's offer, which came with a home hub. So, ebay for that one Grin

CointreauVersial · 11/03/2012 20:47

Well, only £19 made today, but that brings me to £214, so inching upwards....No Hugo Boss jumpers to sell this week, unfortunately!

I've had friends here all day, and cooked lunch for 14, so haven't done any listing. Maybe tomorrow, eh?

Lougle · 11/03/2012 22:09

Hmm cookers...ebay, or local classifieds?

mogs0 · 12/03/2012 00:06

Yay, found the box!! I knew I wouldn't have thrown it out because I never throw anything out Grin

Tortoise - what a strange thing for an ebayer to do...I'd also contact eBay...it's just not fair and really odd.

Lougle - well done! I have listed zilch this weekend but will try and get a few things listed over the next week.

I think I need to plan my finish days better because I list items for 10 days on a free listing Sunday but that means that I have to try and get them packed and posted on a Thursday or Friday which are my busiest work days and I'm always stressing about it. Maybe I should be more organised and list on a free listing Saturday, they'll end on a tuesday then I can pack and post in my two free hours on a Wednesday morning.

mogs0 · 12/03/2012 00:08

Cointreau - £19 is definitely a step in the right direction! Wow, you cooked for 14? I think you earned a day off eBay listing! Infact, I'd probably take tomorrow off aswell!!

carrotsandcelery · 12/03/2012 13:14

Can anyone advise me please? I have been contacted by a buyer who has not received their parcel. I posted it last Monday. They are asking for a tracking number. Is that the Session ID on the receipt?

OP posts:
fergoose · 12/03/2012 13:27

no a tracking number is the reference you will have got if you sent it recorded/special

without a tracking number you have no proof of delivery so if they open a paypal claim they will get their money back

having said that, it is only 1 week, you need to wait 3 weeks until it is considered lost. Ask them to check with neighbours/sorting office.

carrotsandcelery · 12/03/2012 13:29

Thanks fergoose. I stated second class delivery in my listing. I only send recorded if it is worth a lot of money. This may change my mind.

OP posts:
fergoose · 12/03/2012 13:54

yes and you always wonder if the buyer has actually received your item, and is now asking for the tracking number knowing full well you haven't got one - or maybe I am just cynical!

carrotsandcelery · 12/03/2012 14:01

I can't help being a bit cynical about it too fergoose. They said they needed the item quickly and I am itching to say they should have let me know before I posted and then I would have posted it first class at least etc. That fact alone has made me suspicious. I am trying hard to give them the benefit of the doubt though because if they are being honest then I would feel really bad for them.

I have messaged back saying exactly when it was posted and asking them to check their wendy house etc. I also told them that it isn't considered lost until after 3 weeks. I did all of this as politely as I could so hopefully they can see I am trying to resolve the situation.

OP posts:
ragged · 12/03/2012 14:23

Lougle I'd list a cooker in local free ads with ONO sort of price. If they bother to come look at it they'll probably buy it. Should you get it PAT tested, I wonder?

fergoose · 12/03/2012 15:04

Carrots - there is not much else you can do. Just claim from royal mail for lost item if the time comes I guess.

CointreauVersial · 12/03/2012 18:11

Bloody hell! Just gone up to the loft, stuck my hands into my box of eBay stuff, and got stung by a massive queen wasp! Ow ow owww.

So I've emptied half a can of Raid into the loft, and I won't be going back there for a while. Angry
