Anyone interested in a £300 by Easter ebay selling thread?

carrotsandcelery · 05/01/2012 23:05

Inspired by the threads before Christmas, I was hoping we could get another thread going to motivate us as we sell and ask each other questions as we go along.

I am hoping to start selling again once the dc go back to school next week.

Anyone else want to join me?

latest all finishing tonight

Dont know why that did not work before ..pls ignore the neg from my bra buyer in january who waited til i sold another bra to give me the neg :(

SNOWBall4girlz · 07/03/2012 17:03

do you not have a wedding shop that revamps old dresses or try gumtree or small ads if ebay is not so good for wedding dreses

mogs0 · 07/03/2012 19:05

I have 9 items ending tonight, 6 with bids and another with 17 watchers.

All but 2 have paid from last night's lot so I'll drop them off at the post office tomorrow.

Running very behind with tea tonight so don't think I'm going to have any time to sort out any of the clothes in the wardrobe...might just leave it until the weekend.

I wonder if there'll be another free listing soon.

SNOWBall4girlz · 07/03/2012 21:07

hope so mogs each time i get a bit more organised with my more than 99 p stuff lol

Lougle · 07/03/2012 22:26

Well, I've decided to have a crack at ebay for the wedding dress. If I win, I'll make at least £200. If I lose, I'll lose £1.30 Grin

mogs0 · 07/03/2012 23:15

Listings sold for £100 tonight!

Got to pack up all the perfume now...bubble wrap and bag be ok? Or should I put them in boxes? All but 2 are in their original boxes already.

SNOWBall4girlz · 08/03/2012 09:53

bubble wrap round boxes should be ok mogs as the boxes are normally a good fit and perfume bottles are quite robust :)

Fuming not only did the bra buyer give me a neg she left me all 1's on my dsr's out of pure spite /sour grapes cheers dazzlingmoi I checked her feedback left and two items never were recieved and she got refunds and others were not as described and she got partial refunds. I have got about 25 things to post if everyone pays up ..dont want to bhe behind me at the post office later lol.

Hoping for a free listing weekend to relist all the other stuff fingers crossed.

carrotsandcelery · 08/03/2012 10:15

mogs I think those in boxes should be fine in bubblewrap. The ones I had that didn't have boxes got wrapped in bubble wrap and then in the bottom of an empty cereal box which I then taped over to form a box (I messaged the buyers and apologised for the bizarre wrapping in advance). One had no lid so I put an empty vitamin bottle over the top and taped it down to protect it from being squirted in the post. (again warned the buyer of weird packaging in advance). All got great feedback.

I must remember to post my late payment parcel today. It really throws my routine if people don't pay up on time. I can't get into ebay just now either to get their address which is a bit of an issue.

Well, dd's 4 Barbie Happy Family sets went for a grand total of £135!!! Grin Grin

There were a total of 51 bids between them! At one point it looked like a buyer from Italy was going to win 3 of them, but luckily that changed in the last few minutes. [Usually I am very pleased if someone buys more than one item, but I am sending by "International Signed For" to Italy and I would have had to work out new postage, get extra insurance and find a bigger box etc. if she had won more than one. Phew!]

I have 2 parcels ready to post at lunchtime today, and am looking forward to more bubblewrap wrestling tonight......

carrotsandcelery · 08/03/2012 10:18

Wow Purple that is brilliant!

Lougle · 08/03/2012 10:28

That's fantastic!

PurpleFrog · 08/03/2012 10:41

Grin Grin Grin

Well, it justifies the hours I spent researching and sorting out the different sets!

I have one Barbie set left - Barbie and Tanner - but the dog doesn't poo any more... and it doesn't seem to sell for much even in perfect condition, so it looks like that will be going to the next NCT sale!

SNOWBall4girlz · 08/03/2012 11:22

nice one purplefrogs :) all my girls babrbies have had a haircut I cant even find all the happyland never mind the smaller bits from their barbie sets !

PurpleFrog · 08/03/2012 11:47

It is amazing which toys become sought after or collectable. If you can put together an almost complete set, even when you don't have the original box, you can sometimes get a lot more than you paid for it. I managed to do that with some Duplo sets a couple of years ago. [There are a number of online sites which list the contents of almost all Duplo and Lego sets brick by brick, if you are interested Wink]

Of course it helps that I have only one dd who is a fairly careful soul......

SNOWBall4girlz · 08/03/2012 12:45

we have tubs of duplo and happyland a box of thomas bits and enough barbies and bratz to start a toy shop my dd2 wants her friends round to play on the wii si need to do a big cull :)

trying to concentrate on all my baby and kids clothes bought and forgotton about sorting out and lots will not fit so gonna do bundles for ebay

the bits that have sold some have been rlisted three or four times :)

jardy · 08/03/2012 17:31

lougle and purple, fantastic.I think I am going to JUST make the £300 target,as I have a couple of bits of jewellery to sell and an ipod. The ebay fees keep bringing my profits down but it`s still been a rewarding experience.

Tortoise · 08/03/2012 18:51

Well, thanks to my Ebaying I have booked a 4 night break in Easter holidays Smile.

Lougle · 08/03/2012 21:55

I just sold an old CD player for £35 Grin. It was £79 in 1999!

PinkPanther27 · 09/03/2012 09:29

I've made just over £400 now!! Also the spare room is nearly clear now so lots of space for the new baby, result! Still got more stuff I can sell but not getting the motivation at the moment - its been ebay overkill lol
Well done to all of you for doing so well

PurpleFrog · 09/03/2012 09:56

No-ooo !! Amazon has just sent me a special offer because I have shown a recent interest in Barbie!! Blush Grin

CointreauVersial · 09/03/2012 17:34

Regarding Barbies, I have a huge bag of clothes and shoes, so I guess I can list that as one lot, or split into a few lots?? Ditto Bratz.

The dolls themselves - well, several of them look as if they have been dragged through a hedge backwards, so I'm not sure how saleable they are.

We certainly don't have any complete sets of anything!

I'm so used to listing clothes, I'm not sure I can cope with toys......

Lougle · 09/03/2012 21:24

When listing clothes, is it better to do individual listings or bundles?

ragged · 10/03/2012 08:43

I think it depends on the kind of items, Lougle. Higher value, the more likely a single item-in-listing is best. Baby clothes: bundles of 6-20. Kids clothes, generally do bundles of 2-10 items. For adult things, single item for designer stuff & charity shop for the rest :).

Lougle · 10/03/2012 09:31

Fab, thanks ragged!

Mousey84 · 10/03/2012 12:24

Was hoping for a free listing weekend as Ill be away on the posting dates if it turns out to be next weekend. Seems like Ill miss my £300 target (sitting at £214) as I refuse to pay fees when I dont have to!

Still, Ill get a load of stuff written up and schedule listings well in advance so I can feel like Im decluttering the house.

Great day for photographing :)
