carrotsandcelery · 05/01/2012 23:05

Inspired by the threads before Christmas, I was hoping we could get another thread going to motivate us as we sell and ask each other questions as we go along.

I am hoping to start selling again once the dc go back to school next week.

Anyone else want to join me?

free listing is this weekend.

jardy · 24/02/2012 11:33

Thank you fergoose, good timing for me this weekend!

Tortoise · 24/02/2012 18:01

Glad its free listing. Got a bag full of stuff ready to photograph and list. Might go for 5 days again as did ok with it all last week.
Few bits end tonight. Nothing much happening with them.

I've opened a case for DSs scooter as they still claim its not damaged!

ragged · 24/02/2012 19:59

what is the advantage of a 5-day or 1-day listing?

SNOWBall4girlz · 24/02/2012 22:08

fergoose it is a buyer wanting to return a bra to me says its too small ...apparently alot of things she buys are too small .....dazzlingmoi ....

ragged 5 day and 1 day listings are good if you are selling something that you know will sell or are confident in and want to get sold quickly :)

tortoise what a pain hope you have took pics of faulty bits good luck ...think some sellers just try their luck and hope you dont complain esp when the items cost a few quid to post so would be expensive to return :(

jardy · 25/02/2012 21:59

This thread has gone a bit quiet and I reckon it`s because everyone is loading their items up! I have loaded 38 items today and I am just zzzzzzzzz
Nite everyone and GOOD LUCK to those who took advantage of the free listing.

CointreauVersial · 25/02/2012 22:11

I must, must, MUST list some stuff tomorrow. I've managed to take the photos, but that's the easy bit!

I've had a week off, as I was too busy last weekend, but it's free listing, so no excuse.

rebecklet · 25/02/2012 22:20

56 for me today, but a lot were re-lists so tomorrow will be adding all the new ones which will take a lot longer!

carrotsandcelery · 25/02/2012 23:18

Wow! I have been busy with other things all day and will be very busy tomorrow too. I knew I should have taken photos and written up my listings ready. I have some I can relist and will see how much time and energy I have left when I get back tomorrow.

Good luck everyone!

I've relisted the ABC buggy and added a courier option this time...hope someone buys it this time!!

Only one other listing so far but will get cracking tomorrow on the others...have taken a few photos...might even schedule a couple tonight before I go to bed.

Good luck everyone!

I have horse riding gear to sell and can't decide whether to ebay it or sell it at the sale at our local stables.

I might try and get it on for the free listings as there would still be time to put it in the sale at the stables afterwards if it didn't sell. As I said before, it is the packaging that puts me off.

I am off to browse completed listings on such things more carefully.

OP posts:
carrotsandcelery · 26/02/2012 08:45

On closer inspection of completed listings I think I will save the riding stuff for the sale at the stables as it doesn't fetch good prices on ebay.

I think people will be more willing to pay when they can try on and inspect etc.

That saves me time for other listings today then Grin

Will be scheduling items all throughout today to start later. Two jack wills items which hopefully will sell well. Can I beat 50 watchers on last jack wills item!

carrotsandcelery · 26/02/2012 09:44

That's a challenge tortoise. Who can get the most watchers this week? Grin

Hi everyone,I can relate to what everyone feels about time! There is always jobs to do.I have piles of ironing and paperwork to wade through, abandoned for now. Also our spare room looks like a bomb has hit it.I have now organised stuff into a box for sold and a box for pending,so it looks a bit tidier.I have been buying all my packing stuff off ebay, this makes me feel more organised, and I enjoy making the parcel look attractive Blush, however I glow when feedback makes a positive comment about the packaging!Smile

CointreauVersial · 26/02/2012 18:39

A good number listed today, mostly kids clothes, must remember to "deschedule" them before 9pm to avoid the charge.

Tortoise · 26/02/2012 23:28

Feel like I've done well with listings today. Plenty listed and even a couple with a bid already and interest in a bike bundle I listed but they only want one. Going to see what they offer once they look at it weds then will edit or remove listing.

mogs0 · 27/02/2012 09:15

Yay, someone has offered a really good price for the buggy...I'm very excited!! Also, got bids on a couple of items already which I'm pleased about.

I'm going to have to re-list the PM mansion. The last sale has to be cahcelled because I've, stupidly, mis-placed the accessories that were listed with it. Any suggestions as to whether to re-list the mansion on its own or wait until I find the accessories?

PurpleFrog · 27/02/2012 10:01

mogs0 - I would wait and list the PM mansion once you find the accessories. It is infuriating, isn't it? I spent yesterday afternoon sorting out a pile of Barbie "Happy Family" stuff into the 4 original sets. Annoyingly, some of the missing bits had been spotted recently. Some had been removed from the "Animal Hospital on Location" sets when they were sorted and listed earlier this year. But where have I put them? Aargh!!! I listed the Barbie stuff anyway, but it is really annoying when you KNOW there are other bits still around.... somewhere!

On the plus side, I found the knitting pattern I had mislaid, so I got that yarn listed. Unfortunately, the info was no longer saved on my "Sell Your Item" so I had to do it from scratch again. Sigh!

A tip for all mothers of small daughters who may want to eBay their "playsets" in the future: make sure that you keep any instructions showing the parts that belong to the set, cut any pictures off the boxes if you can't keep the box, download and save any current listings from on-line shops which show all the items. That will save you so much time in the future. It will save you trawling through eBay listings trying to work out what belongs with what. Even though I had kept all instructions and various other bits, I had great problems when I started sorting through dd's stuff a couple of years ago. It may seem obvious now, but when you start trying to sort out accessories for Playmobil, Mini Baby Born, Polly Pocket, Animal Hospital on Location, Barbie and Sylvanian Families you will realise that small plastic bits all look the same...... And if you can sell a complete set, especially if it is boxed, you will get a much better price.

carrotsandcelery · 27/02/2012 10:47

Ebay is the strangest place. I relisted dd's party shoes last night. I have relisted them countless times with almost no interest. They have been on overnight and now have a bid! Yay! Hopefully that is £4.99 in the pot! Grin

OP posts:
jardy · 27/02/2012 17:49

Agree with carrot,I have an ornament that has been relisted,no interest shown, now 3 bids.I think I will get about 3 pounds, which is great

jardy · 27/02/2012 17:55

Can I ask the experts something? If you sell a pile of stuff on Ebay and you have say 200 pounds in your paypal account, then you want to buy your summer clothes etc, does it come out of the 200 pounds you have made? This is my incentive to sell stuff,I cant afford the shops.I only sell to people who pay for the goods via paypal.I get a bit confused as I have bought stuff but the figure doesnt seem to go down much.Confused

mogs0 · 27/02/2012 20:13

Carrot - you inspired me to list my perfume after yours did so well a couple of weeks ago (at least I think it was you!). I already have a bid on the one bottle I have listed and have a cupboard full of started bottles in the bathroom that are never used. Were all your buyers happy with their purchases? I'm a bit worried that I've given too vague a description- 'part-used perfume' is pretty much all I've said and it's still got a bit...while my favourite Radley bag doesn't even have a watcher yet!!
