carrotsandcelery · 05/01/2012 23:05

Inspired by the threads before Christmas, I was hoping we could get another thread going to motivate us as we sell and ask each other questions as we go along.

I am hoping to start selling again once the dc go back to school next week.

Anyone else want to join me?

Cointreau Monday and Tuesday are also good days to have auctions finishing if you have time during either of them to get stuff listed.

I am the same. I am loathed to list the bigger items and to pay for it so they will wait but I need to hunt out and list some 99p stuff.

Tortoise that is a right pain about the scooter :(

But at least you sold some stuff :) how is your greyhound?

cointreax it is a pain but once you have stuff on its so addictive I am checking all the time to see if anyone else is watching my stuff lol.

I have watchers om my dd's uggs, dh 's converse and the kid's angelina toys and odd ones on the dresses that I am selling for my niece other than that a bit slow but they dont finish til wednesday.

All items ending within 24hours. Usually, this would mean spending most of the 24hours refreshing the eBay screen. Luckily/unluckily, I'll be travelling home most of tomorrow and will have no Internet connection so final sales will be a surprise.

I currently have 137 watchers over 9 items! The one item that I thought might be pushing its start price is, at the moment, double its start price Grin. I'm still Sad about the thought of one of my buggies going but I should just focus on the end goal of raising as much money as I possibly can.

Greyhound is off to the vets this morning to have bandage removed then I will find out if its righted itself or not.
Also last night my tumble drier stopped working. It's not spinning. Hope its just a belt that I can sort easily!

Got more stuff to list soon. They are washed but need to be dried before photos can be taken!

carrotsandcelery · 21/02/2012 08:19

Good luck to Greyhound today.

I sold absolutely zero last night Sad

I put some stuff on the last free listing Sunday - mainly schoolwear and Nintendo DS games - and got almost no interest last week. Luckily I put them on for 10 days and I gained more watchers and views yesterday evening than the whole of last week! Things may be looking up! Smile

Good luck to Tortoise's greyhound today - I hope it is good news.

carrotsandcelery · 21/02/2012 10:44

Interesting PurpleFrog - sounds like it was half term that was the problem then. Let us know how sales go ending mid week please. Smile

Back from vets. The toe is not looking good! Vet giving it another 5 days strapped up but he doesn't think it will work. Got RSPCA number to ring, see if can get any help with cost.

jardy · 21/02/2012 11:14

So sorry to hear about your greyhound Tortoise, but I think you did fantastic with your selling.Altogether this month I have made 110 pounds.I would love to get some stuff out of the loft and see if I can reach the challenge of 300 by Easter.I sold 13 items out of 27 listed, with one or two going over 10 pounds, and one at 23 pounds. Its taking me all morning wrapping the stuff up and then going to the Post Office, softened by listening to Jane Garvey on Womans Hour, whom I am a fan of!

carrotsandcelery · 21/02/2012 13:21

Poor greyhound. I hope the RSPCA can help or send you to someone who can. Sad

I am glad that some of us are managing to sell stuff.

I have a lot of outgrown horse riding equipment that I am thinking of selling. I have seen stuff listed so need to think about how I would go about posting it. eg a riding hat that can't be knocked around. Any ideas anyone?

carrot,I have spent nearly all day since being up wrapping delicate things to post!I used loads of bubble wrap, then wrapped with newspaper, then finally covered with tissue to make it look nicer with a note attached! What a faff!
Maybe look around for some cardboard boxes.Good Luck with it - I am still in my dressing gown after starting at 9:30 with a short break for lunch Blush
Hopefully when I start spending what`s in my Paypal account on some nice tops etc I will feel better!

carrotsandcelery · 21/02/2012 14:18

jardy at least one small luxury item just for you is definitely required after that Grin

jardy · 21/02/2012 14:20

Do you mean the handful of Celebrations I had mid-morning with my coffee!Grin

carrotsandcelery · 21/02/2012 14:41

You mean to say you have chocolate and you are not sharing? Shock I will have the mini milky way thanks Grin

OP posts:
jardy · 21/02/2012 15:22

Ha ha the little snicker bars are mine! I nearly scoffed the lot out of the sheer tedium of wrapping vases, glass ornaments (sold for 99p) etc etc and yes on my own Shock Anyway carrot I owe you a large bag of mini milky ways as you have really inspired me along the way,and the thing is the more I am doing the more I am learning Thanks.I have found that if you cant be bothered getting the car out to go to the PO to buy wrapping boxes and other luxury` stuff for packing, improvisation is cheaper and it works-take my Sunday Paper supplements, wrapped brilliantly and seems they are secure. Also I found a discarded old box and the vase has fitted in brilliantly,so that has saved me a bob or two .Almost done,13 parcels all lined up neatly to post,I think I will buy myself a fullsize snickers as a reward when I post them! Grin

CointreauVersial · 21/02/2012 17:44

I didn't get round to listing today - think I'll just relist my Unsold stuff (about 9 items, I think - better than nothing, I suppose).

carrotsandcelery · 21/02/2012 18:30

You're welcome jardy but I thank Dino who started the last thread before Christmas and inspired me as that is the thread I learnt on - from tortoise and fergoose etc.

I hope the Snickers went down well and you still have room for pancakes!

Cointreau some relist weeks do well - others (like me last week) don't! Good luck!

OP posts:
jardy · 21/02/2012 19:18

Loads carrot! Smile, but so delighted to have packed off all my parcels today!

Tortoise · 21/02/2012 20:53

These threads have been going for a while. I've been on most if not all of them. I find it a great help to get me motivated hearing how well others are doing.

I'm eating chocolate tonight as I'm giving it up for lent. And crisps too!

mogs0 · 21/02/2012 22:03

All but one of my items ended this evening (one still has 30 mins).

7 out of 8 sold. I'm a little disappointed as they all had so many watchers but most didn't get much over their start price. I must look at the bigger picture - the overall money raised and the space made by getting rid of some more bulky items Grin.

A bit Sad the Gecko went for its start bid...I love that buggy!!

Also, the ABC didn't get any bids despite having 37 watchers ShockHmm. I'm going to have to relist and add a courier option which is going to be a pain as it'll have to go in three boxes.

Any idea when the next free listing is going to be?

mogs0 · 22/02/2012 13:55

Have posted three items, one has been collected and I need to pack up one more to go to the Parcel Force depot this afternoon. Also, the other buggy I sold is being collected tomorrow and I've arranged to deliver the tent on the weekend.

All running smoothly so far but was very Sad when the bugaboo was wheeled away this morning BlushGrin.

I have decided that I when have raised enough for my target then I'll treat myself to another one!!

I'm hoping for another free listing soon so I can relist the abc buggy.

rebecklet · 22/02/2012 16:26

Wohoo - all my free listing ended yesterday (all 100 of them!) and over 30 sold :) So like PurpleFrog the 10 days really do work for me.

So I am very happy but tired (up all night packaging) today, especially as my total is now £1,032! I have never done so much eBay in all my life. This thread has been ace!

I hope things go better with your greyhound, Tortoise x

rebecklet · 22/02/2012 16:26

Although I have to refund over £40 today for a lost package :( Then wait 2 weeks until I can claim it back from Royal Mail.

fergoose · 22/02/2012 16:32

why refund so early? Didn't you send it tracked.
