carrotsandcelery · 05/01/2012 23:05

Inspired by the threads before Christmas, I was hoping we could get another thread going to motivate us as we sell and ask each other questions as we go along.

I am hoping to start selling again once the dc go back to school next week.

Anyone else want to join me?

Got 2 bids on DMs.
Need to do some major listing as might need £300 in the next week or two due to my greyhound having a dislocated toe which may need removing Sad.

jardy · 16/02/2012 20:35

Aw tortoise Sad

Tortoise · 18/02/2012 14:14

9 items scheduled so far. Seem to be taking ages today!

jardy · 18/02/2012 14:33

I am upto £22 bids. However hoping that this figure goes higher if there is a bidding war.Hope your greyhound is OK tortoise.I agree with you Tortoise,it is so exciting when there is a bidding war, especially if it is something that has been tucked away in a drawer for ages!

mogs0 · 18/02/2012 15:20

Hope your dog is ok, tortoise Smile

My items are ending on Tuesday evening. I had a bid on 4 items quite early on but nothing more for days. Lots of watchers though so I'm hoping that I get a few more bids before the end. Two out of three buggies have a bid. Unfortunately, the one I really want to sell doesn't have a bid and the one I'd least like to sell has a bid.

A couple of items are too big to post and I can't be bothered to find packaging to pack up for a courier so I've offered to deliver within a certain area. I've had one enquiry about delivery on an item which currently has no bids so I'm hopeful that it will at least get one bid!

Tortoise · 18/02/2012 17:48

Won't know anything until go back to vets Tuesday. It's not hurting him and is all bandaged up!

28 items scheduled so far! Few more to do. Doing all on 5 day listing so hopefully that's enough time to get bidders.

ragged · 18/02/2012 20:34

Ah, poo. 2 things sold for a combined net total of about £3 I should think.
I've got a possible £50 coming from stuff advertised elsewhere (not Ebay).
X my fingers.

How many times do you guys expect to relist before giving up & just sending items to charity shop or Freegle? I am thinking that I will keep relisting until June or so, and then I want to shift the entire lot to anybody who will take it.

carrotsandcelery · 18/02/2012 20:49

I have a couple of items like that ragged which I have been listing for months. One item virtually identical sold really well but the other 2 just won't sell. I am now just listing them every free listing in desperate hope as I am tired of seeing them in the ebay box.

I have virtually no action on my listings this week. Is it because it is half term and everyone is rushed off their feet or off on holiday?

At least all the listings were free so no money is lost.

Is anyone else feeling it is a quiet week?

OP posts:
Tortoise · 18/02/2012 20:57

Revised scheduled items. All live now.
One of them has just got a bid! It's been on for 7 mins! Shock

jardy · 18/02/2012 21:33

7 bids out of 33 items.Upto nearly thirty two pounds Smile
If I get to fifty pounds I will be very pleased.Good Luck to everyone!

CointreauVersial · 19/02/2012 00:08

Bah! I've returned from my week away and only one item out of 11 has a bid, and that's for a measly £3. I'm hoping for a little improvement on the situation before they end tomorrow evening.

I do seem to remember that half-term is a bit rubbish for sales - people are too busy to be eBaying.

carrotsandcelery · 19/02/2012 08:34

That is what I feared Cointreau. At least it was free and all the stuff is written up ready for the next free listing weekend now too.

I'm not listing anything this week because I like the previous week's to be done and dusted, and my Hama bead buyer still hasn't paid.

I've sent two invoices and a polite query as to whether she still wants it, but no reply. But her feedback seems to be all good Confused. Should I open a case yet? (The item ended a week ago today).

fergoose · 19/02/2012 12:33

yes - definitely get that case open right away. No point waiting any longer. If they're not going to pay get it done and dusted and then you can relist or 2nd chance offer once it is closed.

carrotsandcelery · 19/02/2012 12:36

I think you could open a case TheDog - that seems a long time to me. I don't think you have missed out this week as none of my stuff is shifting anyway and others have had very quiet sales so far too.

OP posts:
TheDogTheDogHesAtItAgain · 19/02/2012 12:42

Thanks - yes, I probably will open a case. Haven't had to do it before, except for one buyer who couldn't pay (or changed her mind), but got in touch herself to tell me and stayed politely in contact while we mutually agreed to cancel. I'm happy enough to do that, but no contact at all just leaves me in limbo. Am just worried that she'll get arsey and give me negative feedback Sad.

carrotsandcelery · 19/02/2012 12:54

I wonder if she has gone away for half term and forgotten all about it. Presumably it is someone with children if they bought hama stuff although there is no guarantee Grin

I am not sure they can leave negative feedback if you have had to open a case. I had to do it and the buyer was blocked because of it.

OP posts:
fergoose · 19/02/2012 12:54

she can't leave negative after the case is closed so don't worry about that.

TheDogTheDogHesAtItAgain · 19/02/2012 13:49

That's good to know - thank you Smile. Have opened a case now, but you're right - she may have gone off on holiday and forgotten! If so, hopefully she'd be back pretty soon and will be OK about paying.

SNOWBall4girlz · 19/02/2012 14:35

hi everybody hope you are doing ok
I have been ill all over half term and despite all the best intentions in the world I have still got auctions on that need totally editing but really have been poorly. I am trying to sort them today but they have the wrong pic or the wrong price or are on twice I was trying to advantage of the free listing and got overwhelmed :) I have 96 live auctions at the mo :( aargh.

here they are

The good news is I have a few watchers on my angelina ballerina stuff and two bids on two other items.

The bad news is the bra never made it home and the buyer has stopped emailing me so waiting for a neg from "dazzlingmoi"
Relisting ...well I never stop a sweater i had listing five times sold at the last relist so I think if you know it is worth a pound of anybodies money some one will see it eventually iyswim.

Hey tortoise good luck ...did you ds scooter turn up yet?
And good luck to everyone else too x is it pancake day this tues ? easter not far away x

jardy · 19/02/2012 20:10

yes it is pancake day.I am upto 43 pounds.A bit mad about some boots which I feel I could have easily sold in the cold snap two weeks ago. They were bought by someone in Romania for ten pounds but she changed her mind.I can`t sell them now!But stilll delighted about my 43 pounds.

carrotsandcelery · 19/02/2012 20:19

I am pleased. I finally sold a wii game I have listed heaps of times and there were 2 bids on it so it didn't go for my minimum price either. Ebay is weird sometimes. My total this week is just £7.50 on the one item. The ones above 99p will have to wait until the next free listings. I will relist the 99p stuff.

I think I need some new stuff to list as well though so I will try to have a rummage this week as I declutter the house.

I have some outgrown riding gear, some adult thermals and some Dora stuff I might list.

How have the rest of you got on?

OP posts:
Tortoise · 19/02/2012 21:53

Made £137 tonight if all pay up.

Snow Yes his scooter arrived. Has a bolt missing off the clamp and a lot of scratching to the bottom of the deck despite saying no scratches in listing. I've asked for part refund as will need new clamp as un-rideable (sure that's not a word!) at the moment!

carrotsandcelery · 19/02/2012 22:05

Well done tortoise. How is your greyhound?

OP posts:
CointreauVersial · 19/02/2012 23:47

RUBBISH! A measly £5.50 this evening. And I didn't get round to listing anything as I was too busy unpacking/doing laundry after our week away. Angry
