Anyone interested in a £300 by Easter ebay selling thread?

Inspired by the threads before Christmas, I was hoping we could get another thread going to motivate us as we sell and ask each other questions as we go along.

I am hoping to start selling again once the dc go back to school next week.

Anyone else want to join me?

B*gger! Why is it always Free Listing when I'm doing something all weekend!!

carrotsandcelery · 20/01/2012 11:41

dizzy how annoying. Some people list all their stuff and schedule it for as far in advance as possible and, if necessary, keep rescheduling it, until there is a free listing weekend, and then everything is ready to go. Would a system like that work for you?

OK I'm in. For starters I have a breast pump that should fetch at least £25 & DD refuses to wear jeans/trousers so all those can go.

Getting some ££ together for kids summer wardrobe. I'll get listing this weekend.

HipHopOpotomus · 20/01/2012 11:54

Question re free listings - I usually set start price at .99p as it's cheaper. On free listing weekends it is free to list items starting at a higher price (handy for breast pump)?

rebecklet · 20/01/2012 12:38

Yes HipHopOpotomus - I always save items that I wouldn't accept 99p for a free listing day, even if it is only £1.99.

Also if you are listing at 99p on a free listing weekend it counts toward your 100 free listings for the month. If I have any to list on that day I list at £1 or more so that it uses my 100 free for the weekend and not my monthly free 100 99p listings.

ragged · 20/01/2012 13:35

100/month Shock, blimey, I am such a small timer! And so not ready, but madly scrambling now to get listings together.

HipHopOpotomus · 20/01/2012 13:41

Thanks for clarifying rebecklet

ragged · 20/01/2012 14:17

Oh Fig, I can't get Ebay to do listings, it just seizes up when I click the simplest options. Is this down to the free listing weekend, is there some point when I can hope to get on more easily?

fergoose · 20/01/2012 14:32

Ragged - clear you cookies, restart your computer and/or try a different browser. You shouldn't be having problems with eBay seizing like that.

dizzyday07 · 20/01/2012 14:43

Carrots - I have used the rescheduling trick before but as I haven't been terribly organised lately even getting the listings written up has had to take a backseat!

PurpleFrog · 20/01/2012 14:51

My sticking point at this time of year is usually the photos. I prefer to do them in natural light, sometimes with added flash depending on the item. It is dark when I go to work and dark when I get home, so I end up having to do them at weekends... if we're in! So, guess what I'll be doing this weekend. Grin

ragged · 20/01/2012 14:52

Thanks Fergoose, will try that later.
Glad I checked, thought it was just a universal problem!

mogs0 · 20/01/2012 19:19

Hi fellow ebayers! I had a look for the Easter thread but couldn't find it then promptly forgot all about it until now!

I have mountains of stuff waiting to list so will start Monday (going away for the weekend so won't have a chance this free-listing). A lot of things can start at 99p but if I have time Sunday evening, I'll try and list some of the higher value items.

I've missed you guys Grin!!!

carrotsandcelery · 20/01/2012 19:21

Hi mogs Grin

Quick question about the scheduling listing trick. If I schedule an item for 11pm tomorrow and intend to start it at say 9pm, by pressing list item at the end of the form will I be charged the 21p since I listed on a non free listing day and used scheduling or will this be waived once I list immediately tomorrow at 9pm?

Thanks.

sleepevader · 20/01/2012 22:13

I believe you should get it completely free.

McPhee · 20/01/2012 22:16

I've finally got my act together and taken some photos of the ebay trash stuff tonight. So hopefully, tomorrow I'll be able to start listing Grin

McPhee · 20/01/2012 22:18

Is there free listing this weekend, because I can't find anything which says it is on my ebay Confused

roguepixie · 20/01/2012 23:17

Neither can I...but I have an email from them that says there is.

ragged · 21/01/2012 11:04

Bloody hell, I am still having weird login problems, and I don't know why.
Have tried ticking a few boxes in Safari (sigh).
DH bloody tech support completely useless.
Still, with huge efforts got about 15 auctions ready to go this evening. It's a start, at least.

ragged · 21/01/2012 11:06

Yeah, it is free listing weekend, but not if it's a relisted item (oops, grrrr). You see the fee drop when you go from scheduled to immediate listing.
Also, if you schedule for another time you still get a free listing fee (only pay the schedule fee), which is nice, if you think this weekend is wrong time to start the listing.

fergoose · 21/01/2012 11:11

Ragged - could you try another browser. Is working fine for me with Google Chrome.

CointreauVersial · 21/01/2012 12:20

I had a message saying I'm approaching my Category Listing Allowance for Clothing; presumably because I haven't been selling actively for a couple of years, so they are treating me like a newbie.

Grrr.....anything I can do, or do I just need to wait until next month?

carrotsandcelery · 21/01/2012 13:25

I am also at my max for listing for my charity page. Fingers crossed paypal will work for that page this time.

Now for listing on my own page. This takes a while doesn't it?

It might be something with K9, Fergoose, sigh.
Would prefer to fix this then start faffing around with different software packages that go wrong in their own unique alternative ways.
