Anyone interested in a £300 by Easter ebay selling thread?

carrotsandcelery · 05/01/2012 23:05

Inspired by the threads before Christmas, I was hoping we could get another thread going to motivate us as we sell and ask each other questions as we go along.

I am hoping to start selling again once the dc go back to school next week.

Anyone else want to join me?

Thanks for the tips Ladies, i've started posting - just got to get busy with the photos and listing - cor it's dull isn't it.

rebecklet · 21/01/2012 21:31

ragged I've been re-listing individual items and it's definitely free for me. It's only if you use the bulk relisting tool that it charges you I believe.

Also I tend to get the login problem when I use internet explorer but no issues in firefox for me, if that helps.

ragged · 22/01/2012 09:55

I don't even know what a bulk listing tool is.
In spite of problems, last night I got 16 things listed on Ebay (3 watchers already :), and those on low value items I am not sure will sell at all Confused), 5 listings on used nappies & 2 more Ebay items for tonight if I can get better pix.
It's a start! I think I'll be lucky to get to £70 net by Easter, but we shall see.
Oh wow, just remembering a huge box of Artin that needs flogging....

fergoose · 22/01/2012 10:25

Ragged eBay will prob end nappy listings as they don't permit used ones any more

carrotsandcelery · 22/01/2012 14:28

I have been listing most of the late morning. Dd seems to have got the bug as well so I have listed loads of her outgrown shoes and a few more duplicate Christmas gifts as well.

Dh has given me lots of aftershaves. I have never sold these before but see from completed listings that used bottles can still sell quite well. We have a nearly full Cacharel Pour L'homme so I am interested to see how it does.

Has everyone else been on a listing frenzy?

The nappies aren't on Ebay, fergoose, they are on usednappies.co.uk (but thanks for the heads up). I have no hopes of getting much back for them, though. I can't figure out why there is nowhere good to sell used naps nowadays, so irritating.

pud1 · 22/01/2012 20:10

Can I join. Have finally got my finger out and listed. Was pleased to realise that it's free listing this weekend. Here are my offerings

CointreauVersial · 22/01/2012 20:37

Well, I'm up to £72 now - who'd have thought it?!

Lots of higher value stuff listed this evening (lured by the free listing weekend), so I'm hoping for a boost in that total next week.

I'm going fairly steadily, though - if I list more than 10-15 things a week I can't keep up with the packing and posting. Slow and steady.....

mogs0 · 22/01/2012 20:42

I've just listed a couple of buggy accessories. I've got lots of clothes to go on but they can start at 99p so will go on during the week.

Tortoise · 22/01/2012 21:03

I got a few items listed. 2 watchers on one item already.Smile
Can't link on phone but ebay name is

carrotsandcelery · 22/01/2012 23:15

I am stunned. I listed dh's Cacharel Pour L'homme at about 9pm, spoke to mum on the phone for an hour Blush and then came back on to finish my listings and there is already a bid on it £14.99 so far Shock If your dh/dp has any eau de toilette or after shave hanging around, even if he has used some, try listing it!!!

Most of my listings end tomorrow night so I have no big sales to report tonight. I hope everyone else is doing well. I have over £200 worth listed but I know it won't all sell (not this week anyway). I will be happy if any of it goes though as it is all money in the pot and clutter treasure out of my house. Grin

Sold another £13 this week (dvd's and cd's) - it's slow this week.

A few more items on last night so hopefully it will pick up during the week a little bit. I know I don't have the level of stuff to put on though, that will generate lots...not like the week before. I will keep plugging away though Grin.

carrotsandcelery · 23/01/2012 08:21

rogue I found that even if you are just putting a few 99p things on a week it builds up over time to a decent profit. Most of my £250 before Christmas was on outgrown clothes. The most bizarre items sell well as well eg fairly worn joggers have sold for more than beautiful and immaculate skirts. Dd's worn Hello Kitty pyjamas sold for more than they cost me etc. You would be surprised.

Great to hear everyone is getting items on, and more importantly getting bids :)

I was quite happily plodding along when I came to package up this morning, I had 18 items to send - Mondays really can be a pain!

carrotsandcelery · 23/01/2012 13:59

I have just checked mine. I am gathering watchers and have bids on 4 items so far. Fingers crossed I get a few more.

The packaging is a bit of a pain. Our post office is right beside the school so I can coordinate with school pick up and drop off and our post office girl is a friend of mine so we have a little system going and can have a chat while we do it. I imagine it is more of thought in a city though. Lots of Brew for everyone packing and queuing in the next couple of days.

oh dear major computer failure at home, Replacement required. So I'm out for a while I'm afraid. Could do with the ££ too!!!

carrotsandcelery · 23/01/2012 14:05

Oh no HipHop that is frustrating. Good luck with the computer purchase.

HipHopOpotomus · 23/01/2012 14:38

thanks - will have to wait until next month. January is bloody expensive isn't it?????

CointreauVersial · 23/01/2012 19:06

Someone has asked me to quote for posting to Romania. I've given them a price, based on the weight, but I'm a bit nervous about the reliability of shipping stuff there. It may only be a pair of old boots, but I will be annoyed if they get lost and I have to refund. I suppose I should have quoted something extortionate to put them off.

All up-to-date with my packing and posting.

Tortoise · 23/01/2012 19:28

Oh dear hiphop. I do all my listings on my mobile now. Find it much quicker.

So far, 7 watchers on one item. 2 items have 1 bid.

carrotsandcelery · 23/01/2012 20:01

I have a shipping enquiry for Brazil for the aforementioned Cacharel eau de toilette. I really hate the faff of it all and figuring out how to allow them to bid etc.

I can't face it just now so I am having a cup of tea to work myself up to it.

Good luck Tortoise - It sounds like a good week!

Woo hoo! I have had a sudden late flurry of interest in my wii games and sold about £60 worth of stuff tonight. Monday night does seem a good night. Grin

Tamoo · 24/01/2012 13:09

Joining you all in your £300 drive, selling on ebay is quite compulsive isn't it?!

I'm having trouble quoting for postage, just sold a load of shoes and underestimated postage costs by £5 :( as well as the two rolls of bubblewrap it took to package them :( :(

Apart from that, it's going OK. Have got one seemingly random pendant that got 9 watchers within 24hrs and a flurry of messages asking for a BIN price.

MyOhMyOh · 24/01/2012 13:25

Tamoo I did exactly the same thing and was gutted!

I am prevented from selling as reached my monthly limit of 10 items ages ago and havent managed to verify my paypal acount yet (which I think will mean that ebay will lift the limit), as they keep failing to send confirmation deposits to verify my bank account. It's such a pain in the arse.
