We are up to 1000 posts on the other thread, so thought I'd start a new one. And also because as of today my feedback rating is 1000 & I now have a red star

Please keep posting, I love this thread; it's so friendly and interesting!

Hope you get it sorted carrots, my local tk maxx has loads of playmobil in atm, was looking at it this morning, im resisting though! It seems its a slippery slope! Grin

Carrotsandcelery · 03/11/2011 16:21

Thanks Byecker. The seller has emailed back and invited me to return the item for a full refund. I am assuming I lose out on the postage cost of returning the item though. Would this be the case? I assume they lose out on the cost of posting me the item in the first place (ie will they refund the original postage as well?) They have accepted responsibility in so much as they have said that their son listed the item while they were away. Confused

fergoose · 03/11/2011 16:46

they should give you your return postage costs too but you can't enforce this

they do have to return you all of your original pymt plus the postage

and make sure you send recorded delivery so you can prove they have had it back

Carrotsandcelery · 03/11/2011 16:54

Thanks fergoose - do I have to send it before they refund me or do they refund first and then I send it?

fergoose · 03/11/2011 16:58

no you send it first - then they should refund you once received

I would email and ask them to agree to reimburse your return postage costs also - why should you be out of pocket for their error

I bet their son who listed it is under 18 - a big no no on eBay, as is using someone else's account

Carrotsandcelery · 03/11/2011 17:02

I will keep the email in which he says this is what happened then. Thanks for your help fergoose.

Is it inappropriate to suggest a compromise of a partial refund as the goods were not the quality I was expecting or is that cheeky?

fergoose · 03/11/2011 17:21

well you could ask - many sellers will refuse it though. I have asked before - is worth a punt and saves return postage costs doesn't it.

Dumbledoresgirl · 03/11/2011 18:01

Oh no carrots, how annoying and disappointing for you. I once bought a school dress for my dd and it had a small mark on it which the seller had not mentioned. When I complained to her, she gave me a full refund and let me keep the dress, so your idea of having some money back but keeping the item is not totally unheard of. It depends how much money exchanged hands I suppose and how much you would want returned to you.

BTW, how long do you give buyers to pay? Someone bought something from me last Sunday and I still haven't had the money, or any communication. It is only £1.45 - nothing major - but I want to relist if they are not going to pay.

fergoose · 03/11/2011 18:12

I would open a dispute now if I were you - I open it on day 4 and then close on day 7 if not paid and then you can relist.

JarethTheGoblinKing · 03/11/2011 20:09

Two very boring items listed on a 10 day listing. Hopefully they'll get a few quid!

TeWihara · 03/11/2011 21:54

Finally got some more up!

Tortoise · 03/11/2011 22:06

Lelli Kelly boots have shot upto £10.50 with 3 days to go! 15 watchers!

HalleLouja · 03/11/2011 22:15

Lots of people not paying. Oh well have resent invoices and said I would like to go to the post office in the next couple of days to post stuff so would be good if I knew when they were going to pay.

In other news PITA buyer who hasn't paid. I have had to cancel transaction but ebay are looking into what has happened and they might take action on the account. They have 7 days to get back to me otherwise it will get cancelled anyway.

I got £27 for the perfume so it pays to have a look at the odds and ends you have lying around. It might be really rare and worth something.

Tortoise · 03/11/2011 22:43

Halle I've got 2 non payers from Sunday. Not sure why non payers have increased. That 5 I've had recently, one paid up when dispute opened, 2 others didn't contact or pay! Will give these 2 until Sunday to pay before opening case with ebay!

TeWihara · 04/11/2011 09:05

such bad luck with all these non-payers! What a waste of time.

Dumbledoresgirl · 04/11/2011 09:17

I contacted my non payer and they got back to me saying they are waiting for their paypal account to be verified. I am not quite sure what this means as they are not new ebay so surely they already have a paypal account? Anyway, I am going to do what tortoise is doing and give them until Sunday. I already have a buyer if they don't pay up - someone from dh's work.

MamaPizza · 04/11/2011 11:05

Dumbles, I totally forgot about the dinosaurs! Nobody has bid, right? Can I still have them?

Getting a bit annoyed and worried now. So many watchers and only one or no bids. Hopefully they will start this weekend otherwise it looks grim and most will go for 99pence :(

MamaPizza · 04/11/2011 11:10

Oh, and why don't people understand local pick-up? I honestly can't be arsed bothered to find a box big enough, wrap it up carefully and send it to you. So stop asking, ffs! (Sorry, having a bad day)

Dumbledoresgirl · 04/11/2011 11:15

Sorry MamaPizza, my dh sold them to someone at work who wanted the lot for her dinosaur mad nephew. I tried to get dh to sell her only a battery operated dinosaur I hadn't got round to listing but he sold her the lot!

I do have dinosaur books (young reader type books) - one listed, one not listed yet. But the dinosaurs themselves have gone, I'm afraid.

Dumbledoresgirl · 04/11/2011 11:17

Oh god, just saw "having a bad day". I've made it worse now, haven't I? Blush

FWIW, I agree with you re not being bothered to box up big things. Trouble is, I also can't be bothered to have people coming round to pick things up so I have loads of big stuff unlisted which would probably make me a bit of money.

MamaPizza · 04/11/2011 11:36

No worries, I suppose I have saved money (silver lining ;)). We have that dinosaur book already, it's fab. Don't worry about the bad day, things just all going bleurgh today.

I know I could potentially make more money by posting, but I am going to have such a busy week next week that I won't find the time for it. I am in a musical society and our show is next week, so out every night. And work in the day. But DH would happily wait for buyers in the evenings and give them what they won.

Carrotsandcelery · 04/11/2011 13:14

Well thank you to everyone for their help yesterday with my disappointing item.

The seller proved to be very reasonable and seemed very relieved when I suggested a discount rather than wasting time and money posting it back to him.

He has refunded me partially and I am happy enough with my item at the price I have now paid for it. I can now use the refund to buy spares which I have found on ebay to top up the set Grin

I have also sold another wii game on BIN.

I think in future I will just put them on for a week with a decent start price though as 30 days seems to go on forever.

I seem to get a non payer every week. All but one have paid up eventually but it does slow things down. I like to sell on Sunday and package and post on Monday morning and be done with it.

Dumbles if I find a funny thread I will link to it here to cheer up your day. I am having a stinky day too so you are not alone.

Tortoise · 04/11/2011 13:52

Carrots Glad you got a satisfactory result Smile.
DPs bike part finally has a bid so he is happy. I'm still hoping for good result from the snowsuit. 27 watchers and one bid. One of those 27 have to bid, don't they?!

mogs0 · 04/11/2011 14:11

Wow, tortoise, 27 watchers?! With that many watchers, I hope you get a good few bids.

I now have bids on 5 out of 6 of my items. The one without bids I'd be quite happy to keep as I have now decided it could be re-used so not sure whether to see if it sells or stop the auction now. It has 5 watchers and has 5 days left.

One of my buyers emailed on the 27/10 to say their item hasn't arrived. I emailed them back asking them to check with their local post office collection place and that i'd make enquiries about making a claim with RM.

I emailed again at the beginning of this week to ask whether it had arrived yet and got a reply today saying thanks for my help and assistance, have a great day. They didn't say whether they'd checked to see if it was at the post collection place or whether it had now been delivered.

Also, today, they have left positive feedback saying they had delivery problems but seller helpful. I am gathering that English isn't their first language from their emails and from the FB.

I've emailed again just now asking whether they have now received the item or not. Any other suggestions as to what I should do?

fergoose · 04/11/2011 14:14

I wouldn't do anything - they've left feedback so presume they've received it
