We are up to 1000 posts on the other thread, so thought I'd start a new one. And also because as of today my feedback rating is 1000 & I now have a red star

Please keep posting, I love this thread; it's so friendly and interesting!

I took the attitude that I hadn't spent a lot on it in the first place and had had a whole year's wear out of them before I sold them so even £1.99 was worth it. It also means they get used by someone and get out of my house - environmentally and flylady friendly Grin

I have had another bid overnight. I have loads of bids this week on my list of stuff, even on things that have been relisted having not sold at least once. I am wondering if people are putting together their Winter wardrobes for their kids now.

That said, noone has touched the Turbulence jacket.

Tortoise · 20/10/2011 10:58

Ebay app answers
You should be able to revise listing to change from scheduled to start listing immediately. I do it on my phone.

No, can't change font etc.

No I don't think there is an option to add counter but mine normally shows how many views I've had.

I still find it easier on my phone. Saves uploading pics off camera to pc.

JarethTheGoblinKing · 20/10/2011 13:39

woo, up to 100 stars Grin

mogs0 · 20/10/2011 13:51

Thanks, tortoise. I'm sure once I get the hang of it I'll be listing a lot more. At the moment I tend to only list things on a weekend when I have a full day available whereas if I can use the app I can quickly list a couple of things without having to turn the computer on. That way, I stand some chance of actually getting rid of some of this stuff!

I'm very jealous of those of you with dc who can keep their school clothes in such condition they can be sold on. My ds can't go 2 weeks without putting a hole in one or both knees of every single pair of trousers. Having said that, all trousers are still intact so far this term. We might make it to half term without having to replace them.

CristinaaarghdellAaarghPizza · 20/10/2011 14:03

Ooh hello everyone :) I wondered where you'd gone!

Still not been paid by the woman who bought the halloween costume for 99p which is v irritating as I am away over half term so I'm not going to be able to relist it. Oh well, I will take it to a charity shop I guess.

dizzyday07 · 20/10/2011 14:37

Mogs - it's mostly pinafores I'm thinking of selling as my DD went into trousers as soon as she realised she could and these are all far to short for her now!

HalleLouja · 20/10/2011 15:51

My moses basket has 11 watchers and the Joules jumper has 11. The PB sleepsuit and the M&P dress each have a few watchers too. Hopefully I will get a bit of money for them.

I am tempted to take off the snowsuit as it only has 3 watchers and relist when it gets colder. Any thoughts? Here are my listings

I only have two outstanding payers now. But one is from Sunday so I can chase for payment later today. Its only £1.04 but if they are not interested then I can relist.

Carrotsandcelery · 20/10/2011 18:38

My non payer has now paid. I am slightly disappointed as the skirt only sold for £1.99 and I thought I might relist and get more.

I am starting to put things on at higher start prices because, if I am only going to get one watcher and bidder, I don't want them to get stuff for a pittance. I don't mind if it is a bit worn and tired but most of my dcs stuff is immaculate because I have been buying them far too much stuff. Blush

I am cutting back massively on what I buy them so I will probably have less to sell in the future.

CristinaaarghdellAaarghPizza · 20/10/2011 19:12

So has mine! She's asked if she can collect as she lives so close. TBH I bought the thing for £1.99 plus postage anyway :o

Sad Just had an email from my P&T buyer saying it hasn't turned up yet.

I had a funny feeling about the whole sale for a few days after it sold but had assumed they'd received it by now and all was ok as was due for delivery on Monday.

I've emailed the company I sent it through but the funny feeling has returned and I think I might be about to lose a fair amount of money Sad.

mogs0 · 20/10/2011 21:42

Ok, no need to panic just yet. According to the tracking, the buggy is still in my local depot where I dropped it off last Friday. I'll have to wait until they open tomorrow to find out why...I'm far too impatient to wait that long...

CristinaaarghdellAaarghPizza · 20/10/2011 21:43

Mogs :( Have you used the courier company before? Do they offer insurance?

mogs0 · 20/10/2011 22:11

I have used them many times. I book the service through this company, they email me the labels, then I drop the parcel off at the Parcel Force depot.

This was the first time I'd enquired about insurance (not sure why I hadn't thought about it before - I'm normally quite hot on such matters). The 48hr service only covered up to £20 (? I think) but if I paid an extra £1 to upgrade to 24hr service the insurance increased to £100. To top it up to cover the value of the buggy would be an extra £6 so I took a chance and am only covered up to £100.

CristinaaarghdellAaarghPizza · 20/10/2011 22:19

x-post. It's a bit annoying that the buggy is still at the depot when you dropped it off last Friday isn't it?

I'm slightly shitting myself - most of the stuff I sent should arrive tomorrow and although I'm 99% sure it's all exactly as described, I had such an awful experience with a vile bloke who bought a changing bag from me years ago, left me horrible feedback and wouldn't send it back but wanted his refund anyway, I'm really nervous.

How does the whole paypal thing work? Will I lose money if I transfer what I've made into my linked account? When do ebay take their fees?

notcitrus · 20/10/2011 22:25

Hello, just checking in. Been finding more stuff to sell, mostly 'things that would sell for a lot if we found the accessories which are in the house somewhere but look like any old wires/metal bits/chips so MrNC needs to find them'...

Will see what I manage this weekend. Coffee table buyers haven't turned up yet either. And Gumtree is crap - either too busy for you to log in or has lost my registration, so I can't remove the listing for the futon we sold!

MrNC has got 3 binliners of stuff for the charity shop to sell or sell for rags, at least.

mogs0 · 20/10/2011 22:30

It probably won't help but I have sold quite a bit over the last 8 years and, apart from one vile woman 6 years ago, I haven't had anyone complain about the items I've sent them and I still worry that they're going to think the item's condition wasn't described accurately.

I tend to highlight the imperfections a bit too much and put some buyers off, I think.

It's still a fun hobby though Grin (as I desperately try to forget that I could lose £100 if this buggy sale goes pear-shaped)

mogs0 · 20/10/2011 22:35

Re Paypal - I like to wait until I receive feedback before transferring the money out of PP. If the buyer doesn't leave FB then I try to leave it a good couple of weeks after the time I think the buyer should have received their item.

Ebay will bill you for their fees. I have a direct debit set up to automatically take the fees from my bank account.

If you remove the money from PP then have to issue a refund to a buyer, it'll take 10 working days to transfer money from your bank account to PP to be able to action a refund.

mogs0 · 20/10/2011 22:37

NC - I have many things just like you describe ie incomplete but the missing bits are here somewhere!

Have you heard anything from coffee table people?

Carrotsandcelery · 20/10/2011 22:38

I am a bit inclined to emphasise the flaws too, in dread of the negative feedback.

I have a Le Coq Sportif tracksuit on just now, with a very clear photo of how bobbled it is. It has 7 watchers. It doesn't have a bid yet mind you. I wonder if people just don't care, think they will get a bargain, realise it will bobble brand new anyway or just don't read the full listing?

I have sold about 12 out of my 30 listings so far. Hopefully the final prices will rise a bit though. Nearly everything else has a watcher but not all of them, and some just have one watcher still.

I am trying really, really hard to stop looking, but also worry I will miss a question.

One of the people who had asked for first class postage messaged to say the game had already arrived. I was so relieved and thought it was really kind of them to tell me. Not everyone is a meany mogs

CristinaaarghdellAaarghPizza · 20/10/2011 22:42

I realised when I was packing up the waterproof Gap coat that it has a tiny, tiny nick on the back - not even a millimetre - and I'm worried the buyer will kick up a fuss. I'm probably being silly. I really only sold things that were pretty much in perfect condition because of my horrible experience. (The bloke was a total scammer - sent the bag back eventually and I refunded him without looking at it and when I finally did I realised he'd used it and left it in a total state so I think I was v unlucky)

mogs0 · 20/10/2011 22:49

Thanks, Carrots!

Cristina - was it a yellow waterproof coat? I know I've seen one on there recently because it made me list ds' old one which has been lurking in an ebay box for a very long time.

Whilst rumaging for the yellow coat, I found quite a few of ds' outgrown Gap outfits and am a bit sad that I can't get clothes as nice as them for him now that he's older (that sounds grammatically incorrect but my brain is very tired now and I can't be bothered to re-type, sorry).

Carrotsandcelery · 20/10/2011 22:54

mogs I know what you mean about boys clothes. I had some lovely stuff for ds when he was wee. Now the best I can get is a nice mini boden top or an H&M t shirt. He does still have a linen waistcoat and trousers from Monsoon that he got for a very formal occasion in 2010 which still fits him but he won't put up with that for long.

mogs0 · 20/10/2011 23:05

Monsoon only go up to age 8 (?) so no good for us anymore and I only discovered their children's clothes about 18 months ago.

I used to get great lined trousers from Gap (often in the sale) and they were really hard-wearing but the stuff they have in my nearest Gap is the most drab and miserable looking selection. I went in last Christmas to get ds a Christmas jumper and the girl working there said they didn't have any for boys but they had a lovely selection in the girls' dept.

He doesn't really need that many clothes compared to when he was a pre-schooler but I used to love choosing his stuff and now it's not as much fun.

mogs0 · 20/10/2011 23:26

Yay! Wellies just sold on BIN. I'm going to bed now before another 2 hours passes whilst I constantly refresh my ebay page Blush
