First time worked for us! Now a big strapping taller-than-me 12 year old ♥️ fingers crossed for you.

lboogy · 11/08/2020 09:36

I went through 6 rounds of iui - only one was successful and that was the first one. I miscarried about 6 weeks in.

First time success with ivf. With icsi . I suspect we had a sperm or egg issue , but we were Diagnosed as unexplained

@mabel9 I can understand the feelings around it in a slightly different way. As I wasn't ever going to be the one carrying I researched a lot about being 'the other parent' and became comfortable with the lack of biological connection. Then fast forward a number of failed attempts and the 12 year age gap between my wife and I it made sense I tried. I thought initially she would have struggled but literally as soon as he was born that all went flying out the window and he's never been less of hers than he is mine.

We initially purchased a donor through the European sperm bank as the private fertility clinic we were using only had donors available for ICSI treatment and they partnered up with the ESB. We used that for the first 3 IUI then moved to the NHS which has their own donor bank. We conceived DS on the NHS donor bank so we had very little information provided about the donor compared to the private route which actually felt a little freeing. Now however, we are back in private treatment using the original sperm purchased from ESB. Where did you get yours?

LifeIsBusy · 11/08/2020 09:46

@mabel9 if you're going to test today I'd do it now as the concentration of HCG is best in the morning urine. I made this mistake first time round, ended up with a really faint line which we never believed was a true positive. Do you not need to go into the clinic to get tested? I need to go in one Friday for bloods.

Tasha1607 · 11/08/2020 10:46

@mabel9 thank you sweet! I've got everything crossed for you for the same! I did mine first thing this morning. First morning wee is suppose to be the best for testing.

I did have an idea. Symptoms were different this time to the first time. Got my 7 week scab booked for the beginning of September. So hopefully it all goes well till then!

Tasha1607 · 11/08/2020 10:46

@LifeIsBusy thank you very much!

LifeIsBusy · 11/08/2020 12:17

So I accidentally POAS and it's +ve. Could it still be the injection from last Wednesday? I took 8/25th of 6500 IU

Tasha1607 · 11/08/2020 16:46

@LifeIsBusy I'm sure I've read that it stays in your system for up to 10 days.

mabel9 · 11/08/2020 19:24

@LifeIsBusy I keep getting told that, once the child is here all the doubts and worries go out the window. We haven’t told our families yet so that may be the hardest conversation.
We have gone private and also gone with ESB. Is this your first iui for no 2?

I did IUI after trying for years and was successful on the first try. I went the private route and it moved along very quickly. wishing you all the luck. x

LifeIsBusy · 11/08/2020 19:36

@Tasha1607 is that not for the full injection though?

@mabel9 I am not sure, I feel like I've POAS and it's testing the ovitrel? Did you find the options overwhelming in ESB? I found the detail a little much to handle at first and we just made sure the one we picked didn't have an immediate family health concern.

LifeIsBusy · 11/08/2020 19:38

@mabel9 I can't believe you've not tested yet! I can't help but accidentally getting one out to try. It is our first IUI on 2nd baby, we were hoping to start much earlier in the year but then covid happened and threw my plan out the window.

Bibliophile001 · 11/08/2020 19:39

I have four children born through assisted conception; male infertility was the cause, eg azoospermia. Clinic didn’t offer IUI but ICI but this was years ago. Also, no hormones/drugs to facilitate pregnancy.
I used to live in 2 week waits, eg the lead up to ovulation and then two weeks of anxious waiting. Didn’t once experience pregnancy symptoms towards time I took test, if period didn’t start first. Really want to emphasise that not being relaxed does not mean you are not pregnant, that was the biggest myth I’d like to dispel.
My youngest is 17, my oldest 25 yrs.
Good luck everyone

mabel9 · 11/08/2020 21:27

Hi @LifeIsBusy I did find the info quite overwhelming and I started to obsess over tiny details, we have gone with the first donor we liked though and not stressed on the small stuff too much.
I hate testing 🤣 I’m used to getting my period so expecting that or used to seeing negative tests.

Hi @Bibliophile001 wow, 4 kids! That’s great. Do they all know they are from donor? It’s great to hear a positive story, I hope I can get as lucky.

@LifeIsBusy this is the second round of IUI and first child.

LifeIsBusy · 12/08/2020 07:55

@mabel9, how did it go?

BananaHammock23 · 12/08/2020 08:19

Thinking of you today @mabel9!

mabel9 · 12/08/2020 08:25

Hello, thank you!
Nothing on either test taken this morning. I thought I may have seen the start ok a line on the first response if I squint but surely that would just be a shadow? Oh well, looks like I’m waiting for my period which also shows no sign of arriving.

Can anyone see the line? Am I imagining it?

@mabel9 I can see a really faint line! Could be evap though... Keeping my fingers crossed for you!

LifeIsBusy · 12/08/2020 08:54

@mabel9 I can also see it, agreed that it's super faint. 😁😁😁

Sorry I don’t know why my tags went in a separate post.

I’m assuming it’s maybe an evap (typical I’ve never had one until now)! I’ll try again in the morning.

Hopefully tomorrow you'll get a clearer result. Will keep sending positive vibes your way @mabel9
