@BananaHammock23, thanks!

At least this way you get to keep a little more dignity? Thanks to COVID we missed out on all the scans this time round and I did not miss them. None of us are in control but at least this way its more of a shared experience that's slightly more inclusive of your partner? How does your partner feel about it?

BananaHammock23 · 13/08/2020 11:51

Yep you're totally right @LifeIsBusy - it's a much nicer shared experience and the closets we'll get to having a biological baby between us! At least if I carry her biological child it'll be connected to both of us. My partner is soooo laid back about it. She's managed to harness this great 'what will be will be' thing and is just going with the flow. I wish I could be a bit more like her!!

Is your blood test tomorrow? How are you feeling?

LifeIsBusy · 13/08/2020 13:09

@BananaHammock23 Sounds like she has the right attitude towards it. I think staying as carefree as possible is the right way to go, you may as well try and enjoy the process if that's even possible. Are you still going to have to reduce your BMI before treatment?

Blood test is tomorrow and I have no idea what to think or feel about it. I don't think I feel any different other than a sore head last night and randomly feeling a little 'weird' when I went out cycling the other day but then again last time I think it was a couple of weeks in before I started to feel ill. I think I would feel more at ease if I had POAS and it was at one point in my life negative. Last time I took at least 5 and even then didn't manage to comprehend what we'd done until someone handed my a baby. Shock

BananaHammock23 · 13/08/2020 14:03

@LifeIsBusy for sure - I really need to learn to relax into this long, painful process and just let it be. We'll get there in the end! I'm still having acupuncture and reflexology every week so that's good for keeping my stress levels down!! I don't have to reduce my BMI as much if I'm not the one having the egg retrieval but now I've started losing I do want to carry on so I can be one of those active pregnant women who look like they've got their shit together!

I think I'd be exactly the same as you - POAS addict lol I hate surprises! It does sound promising for you tomorrow, surely that many BFP have to be true! Will keep my fingers crossed for you x

LifeIsBusy · 13/08/2020 15:44

@BananaHammock23 HAHAHAHHAHAH!!! This properly made me chuckle. I say you keep going with the weight loss but perhaps expect a little less from your pregnant self. I gained more weight that I thought I would during pregnancy but thankfully COVID has me 'WFH' with a 19 month old Hmm. So I have spent a lot of time cycling and lost a fair amount of it.

I am hopeful at the minute but thankfully I have run out of sticks to keep weeing on.

LifeIsBusy · 23/08/2020 20:50

@mabel9 assuming I got my dates right I assume you're back donating blood to the clinic.... If so, I wish you all the luck this time round!

mabel9 · 23/08/2020 21:11

Hi @LifeIsBusy how lovely to see this message in my emails, thank you!
I’m actually taking opks at home, I live very far away from the clinic so couldn’t take another week off work for bloods etc. Hoping to go down for round 2 on Wednesday. 🤞
How are you doing?!

OP posts:
LifeIsBusy · 23/08/2020 21:37

@mabel9 that's a much better idea! Our local satalite clinic is currently closed as it's located within a gym so I had to travel to the main clinic which was an hour away. Soo annoying considering I went in for 5 rounds of bloods. So do you just wait for them to be positive or almost positive? What do they actually test?

How are you feeling about it this time round? Are you nice and relaxed?

I'm good thanks (bar the tiredness and daily headache).

Tasha1607 · 23/08/2020 21:38

@mabel9 good luck for round 2!!! I'll have everything crossed for you!

mabel9 · 24/08/2020 07:23

Hi @LifeIsBusy yeah I’m just testing until they are close to peak or at peak and then I’ll phone the clinic straight away and make my way down. It takes me 6 hours so I’m having to be really on it with testing. I think I’ll be close on Tuesday or Wednesday so I’m planning on heading down Tuesday night which has saved me having to go down last Thursday and staying for the week!

I’m feeling okay, not as positive as I should be but slightly more hopeful! 🤞

That’s very exciting, do you get a early scan?

Thank you @Tasha1607 how are you feeling?

Tasha1607 · 24/08/2020 09:08

@mabel keep your chin up high and keep thinking positive. This could be your turn for a happy result!

I am feeling very tired. I've already gone up 2 cup sizes. And they are so sore! I started morning sickness 2 days ago so I'm adjusting to life with that.

Honestly they say pregnancy is supposed to be a miracle 😂

LifeIsBusy · 24/08/2020 12:42

@mabel9, that's an insane drive! Was there not a clinic closer to home? I've got all. My fingers crossed for this time. I do however think if you stay nice and relaxed you will be totally fine!

I've got an early scan booked in for the 8th September. I remember the last one... It just looked like a kidney bean

LifeIsBusy · 24/08/2020 12:43

@tasha1607 I remember the sore boobs from last time but thankfully appear to be missing out on thst one this time round. I suggest ditching all underwired bras.

Tasha1607 · 24/08/2020 13:13

@LifeIsBusy oh I have done. I don't normally wear normal bras. Prefer sports bras especially with lock down. But I've had to buy some cause we got a few meals coming up for birthdays and that. It's unbelievable how quick everything just grows.

I've got my early scan on 1st September. I don't know what's worst the wait for that scan or the 2WW.

LifeIsBusy · 24/08/2020 14:24

@Tasha1607 I don't think I've tried a wired bra since before having my first. It just got totally in the way in every situation and clearly wasn't easy to breastfeed in it. I reckon the 2WW is way worse. If you're feeling pretty crappy then everything is just fine...well that's how I see it anyways.

RhubarbGnT · 24/08/2020 15:12

Hi, can I join? Smile

My wife and I have been considering this for the last couple of years, but have finally decided to go ahead with IUI using the Bourn Hall Clinic. This is where I had my initial fertility tests, which came back good - 21.something if I remember correctly. I was told it was good anyway. That was 6 or 7 months ago though and I'm now 36, so feel a bit now or never!

We really wanted to do at home insemination, but given that no sperm banks deliver to uk home addresses anymore, we're reluctantly going down the clinic route, as we had ruled out Pride Angel and the like.

I was advised to go down the medicated cycle route, but I would rather not if possible. My cycles have never been so settled. Used to be every 30-35 days, now every 28 days, ovulating on day 12-14 every month. I can feel very strongly when I am and the ovulation tests confirm, so feel my body has gone into last chance saloon mode Grin

What do we do now? We would like to choose our own donor from ESB or Cryo and not from the clinic itself, as there seems to be very little information given. Do I just contact the clinic again and let them know when I am due to ovulate and hope they have available appointments? I'm a bit clueless Confused

Oh and I'm sorry this time didn't work for you OP. Keeping everything crossed for you for the next cycle 🤞

LifeIsBusy · 24/08/2020 16:20

@RhubarbGnt so it depends where you are with your clinic really. You will need to fill out a whole bunch of consent forms with your wife and clinic for hefa, then you'll need up to date smear, confirmation of rubella status ect but they will advise you on all of that. Have you spoken to the clinic about treatment options? Our clinic gave us a login to ESB which we then ordered it and sent it straight to the clinic. Both clinics we have used have asked us to call on day 1 of AF and then they provide appointments/scans from there normally starting on day 10. My cycle sits somewhere between 32-36 days ish so I had to go in for a number of bloods but someone with a shorter cycle would typically go in for less before treatment. Your clinic may also be operating a little bit of a bad log thanks to covid.

RhubarbGnT · 24/08/2020 16:31

@LifeIsBusy, thanks for that. I remember my wife and I filled out numerous forms in the waiting room inbetween my tests. At the time, we just did it as we were asked to, but we assumed we'd be trying at home insemination first. We were initially using the clinic purely for fertility testing to make sure I was good to go, so to speak, but hopefully those forms are still valid.

I have been on the ESB and Cryobank websites recently and I have to say, it's somewhat slim pickings. Only one or two we would be interested in, but either they've tested positive for a genetic mutation or have been on a long time, but have had no reported pregnancies. All the others that caught our eye are out of stock.

mabel9 · 24/08/2020 16:32

@Tasha1607 🤞Thank you, I really hope so. I’m starting to feel more calm and positive, the trick is to keep busy (which I have no problem with!).
I hope the sickness levels out! Have you got a due date?

I live in the Hebrides in Scotland so everything is far away 🤣
Thank you. I’m feeling more calm and positive (atm!)
It’s great that you get an early scan with iui!

mabel9 · 24/08/2020 16:50

Welcome @RhubarbGnT
That’s exciting. Have your clinic recommended iui? Is 21 your AMH?
I’m also with ESB through my clinic, I found a good donor (not perfect but most similar to my husband) I find they almost give you too much info!
When are you looking to start?

OP posts:
RhubarbGnT · 24/08/2020 17:10

@mabel9, thanks for the welcome. Yes, the clinic suggested IUI given it didn't appear I had fertility issues. Yes, I believe that was my AMH, but it was a few months ago now and we've since moved and I can't find the papers 🤦‍♀️

There are actually quite a few on ESB that I like the sound of, but as I say, they're all out of stock. I looked at loads of profiles!

Given my age, I'm keen to get started asap really. My wife is a couple of years younger and would like to carry the next one, ideally with the same donor.

LifeIsBusy · 24/08/2020 17:39

@RhubarbGnT I get the feeling that you won't have filled out the hefa forms yet as we had to do that through a seperate hour long appointment so thst might be one of your next steps.

We purchased our donor a number of years ago and I remember being overwhelmed by the options available and eventually we just decided anything was fine providing no family history of anything highly genetic. Good luck finding a donor. I do wonder if the stocks might be a little low thanks to covid.

LifeIsBusy · 24/08/2020 17:41

@mabel9 what a beautiful place to live... But agreed... Slightly further away from the fertility clinics. I was wondering if you were further north in Scotland as there are clinics all over the place down south but we've still got a fair few options in Scotland.

Tasha1607 · 24/08/2020 18:03

@mabel9 I think the first time is always going to be stressful and the second you're expecting what to happen now. And you know the timings of everything. So you can relax and chill and take it all in this time. Have faith in yourself and your body. I think you've got it this time!

It is slightly today is the first day I've only had slight nausea.

I've predicted 19th April. I've downloaded an app that tracks baby developing and that. And there's loads of tips on how to get pregnant and when you are pregnant. It's pregnancy+ in the App Store.

I'm more concerned about how many is in there. I think it's twins. But if there's only one in there then I'm perfectly happy with that.

dreamingdream · 24/08/2020 19:48

Hi, have any of you been through one tube blockage and been successful with IUI?
