Fantastic news @ally99101! I'm sure that's such a relief! Let us know how you get on!

ODAAT260718 · 26/01/2021 08:35

@ally99101 that's great news. Lots of prayers coming your way

ODAAT260718 · 26/01/2021 13:11

Has anyone had experience with evap lines on pregnancy test after 3 or 4hrs?

ally99101 · 26/01/2021 16:07

@ODAAT260718 not specifically. I know you're not supposed to read a pregnancy test after 10 minutes (roughly) and that's probably because evaporations lines can appear so i would advise to ignore anything after 10 or so minutes. When I did my first IUI, I took a clearblue test the morning of my blood test and I swear there was a faint line. Obviously my bloods came back negative so I ditched the clearblue tests as I think that was an evaporation line (even though I only read it after a few minutes). I've switched to the digital tests now so there's no confusion about faint lines or not, although I haven't had a chance to use them yet as AF came before my test for my 2nd IUI.

GrettaGreen · 26/01/2021 17:30

@ally99101 how did you get on today? Did everything go ok?

Would you have more luck asking on the pregnancy board maybe @ODAAT260718 as most people leave this thread once pregnant. Do you think you saw something on your test?!

ally99101 · 26/01/2021 17:35

@GrettaGreen yes all good today thanks. It was probably the least painful of the 3 and the quickest. Doctor was lovely too. On to the 2ww

GrettaGreen · 26/01/2021 17:50

Thats great Ally! For a few short days we can all all go out of our minds together! Grin

Ttc2017 · 26/01/2021 18:01

Hi I hope I am in the right place I am waiting to have IUI probably in beginning March now with donor sperm. I had a successful IUI 2 years ago and had dd and am hoping to have another IUI very soon now. Hope you are all well and sending you all baby dust x

ally99101 · 26/01/2021 19:47

Welcome @Ttc2017! You're in the right place Grin we have a couple of ladies in the 2ww now, I've just had my 3rd IUI today and a few ladies still active who are pregnant after successful treatment. Sounds like you already know the drill having done IUI before, let's hope it's just as successful this time round!

If you don't mind me asking, are you a fellow same sex couple or some other reason for needing fertility treatment?

LifeIsBusy · 26/01/2021 20:10

@ODAAT260718 I think it depends on the rest really. Personally I would stay away from clear blue as I could never work out if the line was positive or if it was grey and an evap line. Frer is the way to go... And then probably 5 other different types of test to make you believe it (or at least that was the case for us)

LifeIsBusy · 26/01/2021 20:12

@ODAAT260718 I still have my frer from this pregnancy (not sure if that's creepy or not) but it's still the same as it was the day i took it.

ODAAT260718 · 26/01/2021 20:35

Hi everyone. Thank you for replying. We have sooooo many different types of test... Just in case. I read some really interesting info on evap lines from mums net a few years ago which has filled me with positivity so fingers crossed. @ally99101 glad everything OK, thinking of you over the next few weeks. @GrettaGreen how are you and your DW doing? @Ttc2017 welcome... Was your successful iui a first attempt? Sending out positive thoughts to you all x

GrettaGreen · 26/01/2021 20:46

Welcome @Ttc2017! It's great to have a new addition Smile.

@LifeisBusy how are you getting on? Are you beginning get excited?

@ODAAT260718 I am keeping everything crossed for you!

DW has been tracking her temperature and it's rising ever so slightly which is making us hopeful. Apparently as you're nearing your period, it usually starts dropping? I've never heard of this before but I'm going to take any hope going!

Ttc2017 · 28/01/2021 11:22

Very nervous had my bluff called and called in for baseline scan today! I thought I was going off next period but no they meant this one. Hoping it's not too late though as on cycle day 4 now so hoping scan gives me the go ahead to start medication .

Greta green I have heard that too about temp fingers crossed you get BFP very soon!

Yes my first attempt at IUI was successful I think I must have just got very lucky. I am doing it as a single woman no partner.

AfterEightAnyTime · 28/01/2021 11:34

Hi ladies, can I join?

I started a thread about my mum and her joyless reaction to my dw and I TTC, but unfortunately that thread has now taken a turn into, is it selfish and wrong to have a donor dc, so to be perfectly honest, I need to step away and find my people and a bit of positivity if possible!

I'm not yet sure if I'm trying IUI or going straight to IVF, but I'm 37 this spring, so wondering if the latter might be a better option, even though my fertility tests came back good a few months ago.

Anyway, dw and I are excited, but also nervous to actually start and not just talk about it over and over....and over again Grin

ally99101 · 28/01/2021 12:19

Wow @Ttc2017 that must have been a shocker! Good to get it started sooner though I suppose as long as you're feeling ready

Welcome @AfterEightAnyTime, of course, the more the merrier! I must admit this is the only thread I'm on/following/comment on, I'm not a big Mumsnet user at all but lots of lovely ladies here sharing in the excitement of the process with some good advice etc so hopefully you'll find it useful.

The more I'm doing this IUI process and coming out unsuccessful, the more I'm wondering if I should have went straight to IVF. I know if I had done though I'd be wondering if I should have tried IUI first Grin. Hopefully your clinic will guide you on what's best given your circumstances.

Pleasebemyyearforababy · 28/01/2021 15:46

Hey guys. I'd love to join this thread too. I'm hoping to start my solo journey this summer/autumn with a donor. I'll hopefully be doing medicated iui because of my age.

I'm so confused with iui & ivf. I think I've read far too much about both & am wondering if someone could tell me how medicated iui works - as in, when to start meds/injections & what days you go in for the scans & then when the trigger injection happens? I'm worried about it interfering with work. Good luck to you all Smile

AfterEightAnyTime · 28/01/2021 16:08

@ally99101, thanks for the welcome! Can I ask how many IUIs you've tried?

I have a question, for anyone who's willing to answer Grin, how did you decide on a sperm donor? I mean, it does appear to be slim pickings, from the banks I've been looking at online. I'm not even putting in many filters. I think I've put in "UK compliant" and race and it seems to whittle it down to 2 or 3, max! I know our clinic has a private sperm bank, which we weren't thinking about using before, as they don't give you as much info on the donor. Think we may need to be a bit more open minded.

ODAAT260718 · 28/01/2021 16:26

Hi ladies, I hope you are all well. I've been testing daily since 9dpiui (actually more like 3 x day) and my faint lines seem to be getting slightly stronger. Still worried it may be trigger though. Am 14 days past trigger and 13dpiui. Fingers crossed. @GrettaGreen will you guys be testing tomorrow?

ally99101 · 28/01/2021 17:06

@AfterEightAnyTime this is our 3rd, in the 2ww now and if this doesn't work we'll go to IVF. I've been told by the doctor that my hormones are 'textbook' no issues, monthly period since I was a teenager etc, hycosy all clear but we may end up doing 3 with no success which I know is the norm seeing as the success rates are fairly low.

We chose our sperm donor from the ESB. We also considered our clinics own sperm bank but similarly we don't get a lot of info and after a recent price increase they're actually more expensive now than ESB which is crazy to me.

My wife and I both went on, looked through all the potentials which are the time I think was about 40 as we filtered by race (white) albeit focussing a bit more on those who had had a successful pregnancy and of course recipient country being UK. We both independently went through each one, looking at all their medical history, personality etc and then we made a list of our top 3 and then compared and we both had 2 of the same 3 and from that we agreed on the 1 we wanted to go with.

I remember my clinic saying the sperm bank Xytex (if that's right) have had issues in the past with record keeping etc which put us off so we where either going to go ESB or our own clinic and with our own being more expensive and only having I think 3 options at the time it was a bit of a no brainer for us.

AfterEightAnyTime · 28/01/2021 17:16

@ally99101, well loads of luck to you!! Smile I was actually looking at ESB earlier, but only had 3 matches and that was just filtering UK compliance and race!

LifeIsBusy · 28/01/2021 17:20

@ODAAT260718 Congrats! 14 days and its getting darker.. I would go with wahoo you're about to feel like awful strange. How are you feeling?

@Pleasebemyyearforababy Welcome! My only suggestion would be that you'd really need to discuss it with your manager. Whilst it might be an awkward conversation it will provide helpful in terms of getting time off for appointments ect. I completed an unmedicated cycle for both my pregnancies and my wife took medication but never fell pregnant but the process was very similar. She started meds on day 1 of her cycle, kept taking them for 7 days. Then at that point we attended the clinic for bloods and scan (although they ditched the scans this time round due to covid) and then they waited until I reached my peak. Then the trigger should have been taken (wasn't because I was already in my peak) then I went in the next day for the IUI. & days after that I took more HCG but in a small dose. Then went back to the clinic on day 15 to check my bloods to confirm if it worked or not.

ally99101 · 28/01/2021 17:30

@ODAAT260718 that sounds very promising indeed!! I'd be shocked if it was still trigger after this long to be honest with you. Is your beta tomorrow then?

ODAAT260718 · 28/01/2021 17:42

@ally99101 no it's Sunday for some reason? How are you doing?

Mumsinthemaking · 28/01/2021 17:47

Hi All, hope you dont mind us joining. Today we found out our 3rd IUI wasn’t successful, and i need a bit of a place for fellow IUI’ers to rally around with some positivity. Can’t wait to hear all of your wonderful news, and reading the posts it sounds like there is much good news on the horizon! We are back @ the clinic in 2 weeks fingers crossed for the 4th go... hopefully the last go!! Love and best wishes to you all Smile
