Anyone starting egg donation July/August?

We maybe starting our egg donation treatment (first time) July/August and I thought maybe there’s anyone here that would like to join me. Ive found this forum very useful and supportive and thought I would reach out as I cannot believe it is so soon and getting a bit nervous. We had a year of rollercoaster of trying for many years to being finally told my amh is too low and I wouldn’t qualify for IVF. We did our research and found DCN very useful and are really excited about it.

I am so sorry @Cleozeta this must be so frustrating. Do you have any embryos left?

I'm so sorry @Cleozeta 😢

Cleozeta · 29/01/2021 08:03

I have one left for this cycle, then we have another round. Does anyone know if we have to change donors for a second cycle?

tikha · 29/01/2021 08:22

@Cleozeta does your original donor have any more eggs left. I think you could go with a different donor especially if you worried about egg quality issues from your first batch. Ideally someone who has already had kids?

Hi all
Glad to find this thread. We are due to start DE with London Women’s Clinic after a number of failed attempts with my own eggs. We have male factor issues so our chances are a bit reduced but will hopefully be better than with my OE. Just need a hand hold as I finally start the DE process after various delays!

tikha · 30/01/2021 22:25

@GreyGoose1980 good luck. What i found with DE is that its not a guaranteed process and can be set backs along the way as well. Its true your chances are higher however. Also the lwc nurses are very friendly.

Leala20 · 31/01/2021 08:08

@Cleozeta that’s good you’ve got one more left and I wouldn’t know what happens next, I think the clinic would know better if the donor is available or has any other storage or maybe starting new and fresh may be a good idea is Tikha said.
@GreyGoose1980 welcome I am also with LWC and echo Tikha. I met different nurses each time due to timing but all knew everything and were very nice and caring the same about consultants. Look forward and be excited but take it easy as it’s still a process that works for some first time and for some it takes a few trials.

Thanks @Tikha
Good advice about understanding there may be setbacks with DE too. We experienced pregnancy losses with our OE ivf so I am naturally cautious / realistic. Good luck to you too.

GreyGoose1980 · 31/01/2021 08:17

@Leala20
Sorry our posts crossed! Thanks and for the comments about LWC. Our initial impression of them wasn’t that good as the admin side seemed a bit disjointed but since we’ve started the treatment process with the nurses etc everyone had been great.

Cleozeta · 31/01/2021 09:44

Our current donor has a child, plus all 6 out of 6 embyos made it as far as day 5, but 2 just weren't good enough quality to freeze, so I'm guessing our donor was a very good prospect, it's just something about me. Maybe my meds balance needs changing or something?

Welcome @GreyGoose1980 good luck to you

greendress789 · 31/01/2021 11:36

Welcome @GreyGoose1980 and good luck 😘

I am also with LWC.

@Cleozeta I am going to have my immunes tested with Dr Gorgy to see if there is an issue there. Expensive but I need answers after all these failures.

GreyGoose1980 · 01/02/2021 21:23

Thanks @Cleozeta and @Greendress789. Good luck to you both too!
@greendress789 - are you planning the immune testing at LWC?

greendress789 · 01/02/2021 21:46

@GreyGoose1980 I'll be going to Dr Gorgy. More money 😢

GreyGoose1980 · 02/02/2021 20:31

Good luck @greendress789. It would be good to hear how you get on. I was debating whether to get immunes done as have had seven failed transfers but due to the fact I’m now 41 and we also have MF issues I thought I’d try DE first and do immunes if DE didn’t work. It’s all so expensive! X

greendress789 · 04/02/2021 21:41

Hi Grey, your story sounds similar to mine. I've had 6 failed transfers since TTC baby number 2 (also one cycle where we had nothing suitable to transfer 😢) - 9 good quality blastos in total 😢. I am 41 now and DH has low morphology so we thought DE was the answer and we're really shocked when it didn't work before Xmas. Have 1 DE frozen and need answers before I transfer it. But I think it's not going to work 😢

greendress789 · 04/02/2021 21:42

It is SO expensive! Basic immunes cost £3k.

GreyGoose1980 · 07/02/2021 22:59

@greendress789
I understand how you feel re. needing answers. I tried clexane and steroids for a couple of my cycles as my previous clinic didn’t do immune testing. Neither worked. I’m hoping DE is the answer but worry that as I’ve had a number of good quality embryos fail to implant that it may be an immune issue. I always thought ivf was expensive but DE take it to a whole new level!

greendress789 · 08/02/2021 09:59

@GreyGoose1980 I have had clexane and steroids too, thought DE was the answer and that failed too. So upsetting 😢

When are you starting treatment?

GreyGoose1980 · 08/02/2021 15:52

@greendress789
Sorry your last DE transfer failed. Was that your first DE transfer? I’m due to start in approx a week. Due to our MF issues we’ve already been told by the clinic our chances are lower than usual for DE so am remaining realistic but hopeful. The process and then the prospect of the two week wait never gets any easier!

greendress789 · 08/02/2021 19:20

Hi @GreyGoose1980 yes it was our first DE transfer.

What issues does your OH have?

GreyGoose1980 · 16/02/2021 20:00

Hi all
How’s it going?
We are just beginning our cycle! [shock]@greendress789 - Hope things are moving forward for you with the testing? My OH has sperm count and motility issues and also DNA fragmentation (although that did improve with vitamins he was prescribed by our previous clinic).

greendress789 · 16/02/2021 23:58

Good luck @GreyGoose1980.

Had the immunes test last week so will get the results next week.

Feeling very down since the Meghan and Harry announcement 😪

GreyGoose1980 · 04/03/2021 19:11

@greendress789
How did your test results go? I’m day one of the 2WW🙄

greendress789 · 04/03/2021 21:04

Wow that's quick @GreyGoose1980! Wishing you so much luck!!!

My results came back as raised natural killer cells so I'm on steroids for it which have given me a dreadful headache. I am also having LIT therapy which is where they take white blood cells from my husband and inject them into me. Having that on Tuesday.

Just hope this works 🤞

greendress789 · 04/03/2021 21:08

Also new experience today: having to carry a sample of the inside of my womb from one part of Harley Street to the other 😂
