At Home Insemination - Buddies?

999 replies

H8624 · 15/02/2020 17:58

For several reasons hubby and I are going down the route of at home insemination. It can be quite a lonely process I think - does anyone want to join me and we can go through it together/share tips etc?

Bit of background - we've tried for 2 months now both unsuccessful. I'm using clearblue ovulation detector to get my peak, and we've been doing the insemination every day from when I get my flashing smiley to the day after the peak, give or take the odd day! Using 10ml syringes and laying down afterwards for 20-30 mins.

Finding the 2ww a real struggle, and my heart breaks every time AF comes! I know it's only been 2 cycles and could take a lot longer so need to be patient! Altho feel like everyone around me is having babies which doesn't help!

Anyway sorry for going on - anyone want to join and share their experiences/tips? Need some motivation and hope!

@waitingtobamummy yeah that's a good point! Hopefully they won't ask loads of questions!

I have my 20 week mid August so a while away yet! I am going to find out the gender as I'm far too impatient to wait, plus I think it'll help to know when buying clothes etc. Altho I did buy a few little neutral clothes this week since the scan 😂. I have no idea what it could be either - one minute I'm convinced it's a boy, and the next a girl. None of this 'I could sense it' lol

@chunkybutfunky87 if you can see a line tho that's a good sign! When are you next going to test?

I can't see one on that pic but like you say you're more likely to see it in person if it's faint than through a photo 😊 and if you're getting one so early it may be clearer with fmu too!

@H8624 I'm due on Saturday, 9DPO today so will just wait now until probably Friday/Saturday. I realise I look like the crazy lady right now Grin

H8624 · 05/07/2020 21:45

@chunkybutfunky87 not crazy at all! 9dpo is an ok time to test - yes it's early but you potentially got a line! I wouldn't be able to wait til Saturday if it was me 😂.

9dpo isn’t crazy in the TTC world @ChunkyButFunky87 I’ve read many posts from women who start testing at 4dpo so I mean really you’re late lol

Waiting2BAMummy · 06/07/2020 18:56

Me either @bitheby I keep telling myself I’m not going to test until AF is late, REALLY??.... who am I trying to kid?! 😂

ChunkyButFunky87 · 07/07/2020 14:18

Trying to hold off til the weekend, but I feel like I've got a change in CM (sorry TMI) and just reading it says it can be a sign of early pregnancy (yep I'm a full blown sign spotter now too!) I have 1 FRER left. Do I risk it tonight or not HmmGrin

H8624 · 07/07/2020 15:46

@chunkybutfunky87 if it was me I wouldn't be able to wait lol.

But I would suggest maybe waiting until tomorrow morning and using FMU if you can wait (I think they're best to show a line with that). Also tomorrow is one day closer to the weekend!

H8624 · 07/07/2020 21:09

@chunkybutfunky87 aw sorry to hear that. It is still early yet so you never know though!

Haha I hate having to wait for deliveries I'm so impatient!

Hello guys.
Same sex couple using donor sperm here, wondering if there's any more of you out there to share some tips and sanity with x

Waiting2BAMummy · 07/07/2020 22:22

Bless you @ChunkyButFunky87 but as @H8624 says it is still early so you’re not put just yet. Still keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Hi @Busybee143 are you using a known donor or ordering frozen from a sperm bank? Welcome to the madness!

So, by now I should have had two attempts but so far absolutely zero! My donor messaged me yesterday asking what time I would be at his, he knows I finish at 5:30 and then have a two hour drive but he said this was too late so he wouldn’t be able to do yesterday. Today everything went to pot at work so I was late finishing and it would have been after 9 by the time I got there so it was too late to go. We still have plans for me to go tomorrow but when he asked what time I would be there and I said around 8 he hasn’t replied so who knows?!

Busybee143 · 08/07/2020 12:14

@Waiting2BAMummy
A known donor.
I'm going out of my head that I'm inseminating at the wrong time though/!

Waiting2BAMummy · 08/07/2020 17:56

Are you tracking ovulation @Busybee143?

Busybee143 · 08/07/2020 21:27

I am but I'm convinced I am wrong still. I'm sure I'm catching my peak but I only have a 25 day cycle and ovulate on cd15 so I'm only getting to 10dpo max at the moment which is good as my cycles are short but I can't help thinking it's not normal

Waiting2BAMummy · 09/07/2020 12:53

It’s not ideal but you’re not the only person to have a leutal phase that short, mine is only 11. Implantation can happen from 6dpo so it doesn’t necessarily you won’t be able to conceive @Busybee143

ChunkyButFunky87 · 09/07/2020 12:53

Sorry to hear that @Waiting2BAMummy hopefully third time lucky?

Hi @Busybee143 the first time I tried I only did one attempt on CD14 and somehow got pregnant! No ovulation sticks or anything, sadly that ended in a CP.

I've had 2 more attempts now, tried CD 15, 16, 18 sign spotting for ovulation - no luck

Have just tried cheap OPK's this month but only got CD 12 & 14 in, I'm due on Saturday however I think I'm out as I've just had the slightest tinge when wiping so I think I'm coming on early. I'd be surprised if it's implantation at this point. Hey ho

Busybee143 · 09/07/2020 16:11

@Waiting2BAMummy
Looks like we both have a short leutel phase then.
Have you inseminated now? What cd are you on?

@ChunkyButFunky87
I've just inseminated at cd11, it's early but the best we could do this month, what will be will be i guess Have you got a donor? How many times do you usually inseminate per cycle?

ChunkyButFunky87 · 09/07/2020 16:14

Yes @Busybee143 my husband! Lol

Sadly we just have a few things that make it difficult in the more conventional sense so have been trying this route since April. We conceived our first child naturally but struggled this time sadly

Busybee143 · 09/07/2020 16:30

@ChunkyButFunky87
Good to hear, at least that's one less stress off your mind, I always worry about nagging our donor to come as I understand he has his own life.

Guys I'm really interested about your cycles, when you ovulate and when you inseminate. I really need to start getting my timing perfect as its stressing me out a bit

Waiting2BAMummy · 09/07/2020 19:37

No such luck @ChunkyButFunky87 my donor messaged me yesterday to say he couldn’t do last night so, so far no inseminations this month. Due to meet my other donor tomorrow and Sunday, fingers crossed he doesn’t pull out too!

I’m on CD13 today @Busybee143 I did conceive back in March but it ended in a chemical pregnancy and I had inseminated on days 12 & 14. I don’t track ovulation anymore as I was getting obsessed with it in fact the month I conceived was the first month I didn’t track. I usually got my positive on CD 13/14 but you can’t really judge your situation by anyone else’s as everyone’s body is different. I have the odd month when I ovulate late or early but generally it’s around CD15 so I am to make sure that I generally have donations in days 12 & 14.

ChunkyButFunky87 · 09/07/2020 19:44

Ah sorry @Waiting2BAMummy

I'm out this month AF deffo here early now, nevermind, I'm just not sure how much luck we'll have later in the month as hubby struggling with some of his physical issues currently, I have a feeling sadly we won't get the chance to try Sad
