At Home Insemination - Buddies?

H8624 · 15/02/2020 17:58

For several reasons hubby and I are going down the route of at home insemination. It can be quite a lonely process I think - does anyone want to join me and we can go through it together/share tips etc?

Bit of background - we've tried for 2 months now both unsuccessful. I'm using clearblue ovulation detector to get my peak, and we've been doing the insemination every day from when I get my flashing smiley to the day after the peak, give or take the odd day! Using 10ml syringes and laying down afterwards for 20-30 mins.

Finding the 2ww a real struggle, and my heart breaks every time AF comes! I know it's only been 2 cycles and could take a lot longer so need to be patient! Altho feel like everyone around me is having babies which doesn't help!

Anyway sorry for going on - anyone want to join and share their experiences/tips? Need some motivation and hope!

@Waiting2BAMummy oh bless you, that's a lot of stress to take on, when you're trying to relax and conceive. Presuming the donor is the same, ie could he come stay near you for a few days or tied by work

Waiting2BAMummy · 27/06/2020 13:17

@ChunkyButFunky87 I couldn’t expect him to do that, even if I paid for his accommodation his life is there and he’s the one doing me the favour. Besides I love driving so it’s quite relaxing (just not so many miles!) however, the last time I did it I’d hurt my back and the entire drive there and back was absolutely agony - no wonder it didn’t actually work!

Thankfully my other donor lives about 20 minutes away and he comes to me so

Waiting2BAMummy · 27/06/2020 13:18

sorry, my phone had a moment and posted before I was finished!

Anyway, my other donor comes to me so that’s a lot less to worry about.

ChunkyButFunky87 · 27/06/2020 18:34

@Waiting2BAMummy well if it gets you the desired outcome it'll be worth all the effort! I was hoping for a final attempt tonight (we agreed 3 times/every other night around ovulation) but hubby not feeling great, so tonight's off the cards, let's hope the first two have done the job

2WW here we come

Waiting2BAMummy · 27/06/2020 19:15

If you ovulated yesterday, as you suspect, today would have been too late anyway so try not to worry about it too much @ChunkyButFunky87. At the end of the day, as they say, you only need one. I really hope this is your month.

I’ve lost two stone since I conceived in March so I’m hoping that’s going to help. Providing my donors are in agreement my inseminations start a week on Monday. Would be great if we both are successful this month we’d be due around two weeks apart!

ChunkyButFunky87 · 27/06/2020 19:24

@Waiting2BAMummy ah that's amazing, well done you. Done anything in particular?

I'm overweight (well over) probably 1 stone heavier now though that when I booked in for my daughters pregnancy. I'm conscious of it but I'm very much an emotional eater so battling all of that right now, foods been my comfort in all the ups and downs sadly

Waiting2BAMummy · 27/06/2020 19:40

I’m absolutely an emotional eater too @ChunkyButFunky87 but at my age (I turn 39 in two weeks) time is moat definitely not on my side so I decided I need to put my emotions into something positive and make this happen. I’m trying to eat low carb and am walking at least five miles a day, today I’ve done eight. I’ve found that has really helped, going out for a walk clears my mind and I’m not so tempted to reach for a packet of crisps or something I shouldn’t. I keep telling myself this isn’t forever once I have my baby in my arms I can eat all the crap I want (hopefully by the. I won’t want to) and oh I’m going to drink the biggest cup of coffee in history!!

Waiting2BAMummy · 03/07/2020 20:34

How’s the TWW going @ChunkyButFunky87? I always find in kind of okay the first week and the second week I become completely neurotic lol

How did your scan go @H8624? Must be so amazing to see that little heartbeat.

I’m finally able to start trying again next week. I’m visiting one of my donors Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and the other one is visiting Friday and Sunday so that covers CD’s 10-16 which I think should pretty much cover all bases.

ChunkyButFunky87 · 03/07/2020 20:57

@Waiting2BAMummy sounds like you've got a good plan there

Yep 100% neurotic stage lol due AF on 11th and even though I've got FRER on standby, I've still never got a positive earlier than AF being due, the earliest is at 4+5 which would be the 15th, still seems like ageeeeees!

Comfort eating still, take away waffle tonight Blush

Waiting2BAMummy · 03/07/2020 21:38

Fingers crossed for you @ChunkyButFunky87 its my birthday this month and I’ve asked the birthday fairy for our BFP’s Grin

As for the comfort eating hopefully once you get your BFP you’ll stop craving unhealthy food. I’ve read so many stories of people who lose weight without even trying while pregnant. I’m hoping for some of that 😂😂

H8624 · 03/07/2020 22:21

@chunkybutfunky87 hope you're doing ok in the TWW! Just try to distract yourself wherever possible (easier said than done!)

@waitingtobamummy had the scan on Monday and all went well thank you :)

Glad you have your plan in place and I hope the next week goes smoothly for you and in a few weeks time you get a BFP 🤞hopefully using both donors will mean it's your month 😊

ChunkyButFunky87 · 03/07/2020 22:47

@Waiting2BAMummy birthday BFP's is totally acceptable!! Wishing you lots of good luck dust!

Ah congrats @H8624 glad the scan went well, into the next trimester too I imagine now, gets a little more real

Trixabelle84 · 04/07/2020 17:04

Hi everyone!

Hope everyone is doing OK?

Sorry I have been a been quiet, trying to be more chilled this month so limiting the time I spend looking at the threads!

AF due on Wed (8th), no signs of pregnancy whatsoever so won't be surprised if it's a bpn, trying not to test obsessively this month too 😂

ChunkyButFunky87 · 04/07/2020 17:42

@Trixabelle84 ah so close! I'm with you, Tbf other than responding to this thread I do stay away now, a lot of it seems quite samey or someone's found the thread after 2 years and revived with a random late comment lol

I have got a bad habit of watching '9 months with Courtney Cox' on Facebook watch, some really interesting stories and I love seeing other people's journeys, I also have OBEM Australia on the go as UK haven't done any for so long lol

That's my distraction from testing, just look at other people's beautiful babies lol

ChunkyButFunky87 · 04/07/2020 20:12

And another pregnancy announcement for January Sad

I know I shouldn't be jealous, I don't know their journey behind closed doors but it's a little bit painful I must say, 8th January will forever be ingrained in my head

H8624 · 04/07/2020 20:38

@chunkybutfunky87 sorry to hear that 😞.

Try to be positive if you can - your time will come! You already know you can conceive which is a huge thing/concern so you just need a little luck again and a nice sticky bean.

Sorry I don't know if this helps or not! Trying to spread positivity x

ChunkyButFunky87 · 04/07/2020 22:37

Ah thank you @H8624 positive vibes always welcome

It's all good, I feel like if I blub on here it's better than being a jealous little cow lol

Have you announced yet? I'm seeing some creative lockdown announcements coming out!

H8624 · 05/07/2020 17:09

@chunkybutfunky87 how are you feeling today? Just under a week until you can test hopefully!

@waitingtobamummy good luck for this week hope it all goes smoothly and you get lucky!

We haven't done an 'announcement' yet but we have told family and close friends so it's nice to not keep it a secret anymore! Will probably announce more next week altho I haven't thought of a creative way yet lol!

OP posts:
Waiting2BAMummy · 05/07/2020 17:20

Thanks @H8624 glad everything is going well. I don’t think I’m going to make an announcement. I’ll tell my Mum (unofficially adopted) as soon as I know and I’ll tell my boss (because I have to) but everyone else can just figure it out lol I think I feel like that because I know there will be questions and frankly I don’t want to answer them!

Sorry to hear you had another announcement @ChunkyButFunky87 it’s so soul destroying, but fingers crossed you’ll be making your own really soon.

Many women say the month they got their BFP was the month they had the least pregnancy symptoms @Trixabelle84 so don’t lose hope.

Not looking forward to the 600 miles I have to drive over the next three days but it’ll be worth it when I get my BFP.

ChunkyButFunky87 · 05/07/2020 17:26

I'm feeling good today ladies @Waiting2BAMummy @Trixabelle84 @H8624

Starting back work tomorrow after 15 weeks on furlough, butterflies but think having something to focus on will help me focus elsewhere! Not looking my forward to the 5.30 wake up mind lol

I was so tempted to test earlier thinking it's technically 6 days before for a FRER but I withheld lol

ChunkyButFunky87 · 05/07/2020 20:13

I think I just got a squinter

I caved GrinShockGrinShock

I mean an unbelievable squinter that I can't see on the photos but to naked eye I think I can. Roll on a week of uncertainty lol

H8624 · 05/07/2020 20:45

@waitingtobamummy yeah I get that! I'm not normally one for announcements but I may put something online soon just so I don't get all the questions as and when I see people! I'm not good at being centre of attention lol. The long trips will be worth it if it works out! And if your new donor is more local then if you need it in future months you'll have less travelling!

@chunkybutfunky87 glad you're feeling better today! How exciting at a possible squinter. Especially if that's not using FMU either! How many days post ov are you? Can you share a pic with us? If it is positive then in a few days you should get a clearer line! Keeping my fingers crossed for you! 🤞

OP posts:
Waiting2BAMummy · 05/07/2020 21:10

Oooooooo @ChunkyButFunky87 fingers firmly crossed for you.

No, I hear you @H8624 I don’t like being the centre of attention either and I think for me making that announcement will make things worse whereas if people just start seeing a bump developing they’ll probably just whisper behind my back! Do you have a date for your 20 week scan? Will you find out what you’re having? I wouldn’t be able to wait I’m too impatient lol
