At Home Insemination - Buddies?

For several reasons hubby and I are going down the route of at home insemination. It can be quite a lonely process I think - does anyone want to join me and we can go through it together/share tips etc?

Bit of background - we've tried for 2 months now both unsuccessful. I'm using clearblue ovulation detector to get my peak, and we've been doing the insemination every day from when I get my flashing smiley to the day after the peak, give or take the odd day! Using 10ml syringes and laying down afterwards for 20-30 mins.

Finding the 2ww a real struggle, and my heart breaks every time AF comes! I know it's only been 2 cycles and could take a lot longer so need to be patient! Altho feel like everyone around me is having babies which doesn't help!

Anyway sorry for going on - anyone want to join and share their experiences/tips? Need some motivation and hope!

@juneybean @Waiting2BAMummy thank you ladies, you've reassured me! Was worried I'd gone too early. I wonder why it's higher two days before than one day before though?

Also, I bought myself an OvuSense after seeing you talk about them in an earlier post, I really like it so far!

Waiting2BAMummy · 14/12/2020 15:33

Glad you like it @restingwitchface86 it will take a few days for it to confirm ovulation day.

I have attached the graph they have in their information

Hi ladies, I am 7dpo today and my temps are going down, I am not very hopeful this month, I won't even buy the test, will wait for AF, its supposed to be on Saturday.
Goodluck to you ladies 🤞

juneybean · 14/12/2020 16:46

@Coolhand2 have you had your progesterone tested? I wouldnt expect temperature to drop at 7dpo even in a normal cycle?

Coolhand2 · 15/12/2020 03:06

@juneybean, no I haven't had it tested, some cycles the temp drops, is that an indication of progesterone problem?

juneybean · 15/12/2020 08:24

Progesterone is a thermogenic (I think that's the correct term) hormone so is usually the cause of the temperature shift in the luteal phase. 7dpo is usually when progesterone is at its highest so I would usually expect to see temp peak at this point. Is it a massive drop you're seeing each month? Wonder if your luteal phase is shorter?

Waiting2BAMummy · 16/12/2020 12:08

Temp dropped this morning from 36.81 to 36.6 so think I’m out this month.

How is everyone else doing?

restingwitchface86 · 16/12/2020 14:58

36.6 is still elevated though! How many DPO are you? Maybe it was a implantation dip?

I'm only 3DPO (I think, OvuSense hasn't confirmed ovulation day yet but judging from my temps it looks likely) and trying not to stress or overthink it. I decided I'll take a test Christmas Eve as I'm due on that day, but only if I haven't spotted - I usually spot a few days before AF. If I start spotting before Christmas Eve I'll know I'm out. Keeping everything crossed for a Christmas miracle 🤞🏻🤞🏻

Waiting2BAMummy · 16/12/2020 15:25

I’m 9dpo based on what Fertility Friend says and 8dpo based on OvuSense @restingwitchface86. I guess if temp goes back up tomorrow it could have been an implantation dip.

Not going to count my chickens....

restingwitchface86 · 16/12/2020 15:27

@Waiting2BAMummy crossing everything for you, it would be the exact right timing for an implantation dip! I know getting your hopes up sometimes does more harm than good though!

Waiting2BAMummy · 16/12/2020 16:05

Thank you @restingwitchface86

Coolhand2 · 16/12/2020 23:09

@juneybean, I think my luteal phase is short, 11 days. Some months the temps have stayed elevated, I will start to watch it, maybe there is something wrong.

Waiting2BAMummy · 17/12/2020 07:48

My temperature went up this morning to 36.74 not back to what it was before it dropped yesterday, but still up. Not sure what to think, will have to wait and see what happens tomorrow.

juneybean · 17/12/2020 07:58

Temps will always fluctuate but as long as it's above FF's coverline then there's still a chance.

But if anyone has been trying for longer than 12 cycles, do book yourself in with your GP, under NICE guidelines they should provide a bloodtest for general fertility hormones plus a "day 21 progesterone" test. So called because it's supposed to be done mid luteal phase/7dpo. So for you @Coolhand2 this would be around 5dpo.

Hello ladies,

I can't believe only 10 messages left on this thread! (Or 9 now!) how are you all?

I'm 11 weeks today, had the week from hell with work, but finally finished for the weekend, looking forward to scan next week to confirm all still hopefully ok.

My best friend is pregnant too - just 10 days after, she got told last week that baby was ok but the sac was too small and it looked like bad news. However she's been back today and by some miracle baby and sac now all ok! Such a relief.

Safe to say I've really had to try and let the stress wash over me this week, it's been tough.

I hope you're all doing well anyway and looking forward to Christmas regardless x

Waiting2BAMummy · 18/12/2020 20:14

Hope your scan goes well next week @ChunkyButFunky87, another milestone reached. Can’t believe you’re 11 weeks already that’s gone so fast, though it probably doesn’t feel like it to you when you’re constantly worrying about the next appointment. Hopefully next week will put your mind at ease and you can enjoy Christmas, you deserve it x

Busybee143 · 18/12/2020 21:36

@ChunkyButFunky87 glad to learn your scan is really soon, not much longer to wait!!! Don't forget to update us 😁
That's fantastic news about your friend, it just goes to show we all develop at different rates.

H8624 · 19/12/2020 10:06

When I started this thread back in feb i certainly didn't expect it to reach 1000 posts!

@Waiting2BAMummy how is your Temp now? One lower one could be an anomaly so try to stay positive!

@ChunkyButFunky87 how exciting your scan is next week - I hope it all goes well what a lovely way to end the year as well! Will you find out the gender at 20 weeks or wait for the surprise? My friend had a baby recently and I am due in 2 weeks (can't believe it!) but it's so nice to have someone going through the same thing at the same time.

I’ve attached my chart @H8624 I’d say AF is the way. I’m glad though to have actually ovulated and had a normal cycle. Can’t believe you’re due in 2 weeks. I remember talking to even the cycle you conceived and you were so convinced it was never going to happen for you. Hope everything goes well with the birth x

I’m sure you may already know but I read an article saying that they’re going to amend the guidance in England meaning that a person/partner will be able to attend all anti natal appointments/scans throughout pregnancy so may be worth checking with your hospitals if they have amended their policies yet @Busybee143 @ChunkyButFunky87

Temp still above the cover line so don't give up hope yet @Waiting2BAMummy x

Waiting2BAMummy · 19/12/2020 16:55

Thank you @juneybean

juneybean · 22/12/2020 07:18

How are you @Waiting2BAMummy?

Waiting2BAMummy · 22/12/2020 10:53

AF arrived on Monday @juneybean but it was a perfect 28 day cycle so after the 2 previous months of 40+ days I’m taking that as a positive!

I’ve started a new thread, I think I tagged you, as this one will close at 1000 comments.

How are you doing?

Busybee143 · 22/12/2020 21:31

@Waiting2BAMummy that's a massive positive!!!!
