At Home Insemination - Buddies?

For several reasons hubby and I are going down the route of at home insemination. It can be quite a lonely process I think - does anyone want to join me and we can go through it together/share tips etc?

Bit of background - we've tried for 2 months now both unsuccessful. I'm using clearblue ovulation detector to get my peak, and we've been doing the insemination every day from when I get my flashing smiley to the day after the peak, give or take the odd day! Using 10ml syringes and laying down afterwards for 20-30 mins.

Finding the 2ww a real struggle, and my heart breaks every time AF comes! I know it's only been 2 cycles and could take a lot longer so need to be patient! Altho feel like everyone around me is having babies which doesn't help!

Anyway sorry for going on - anyone want to join and share their experiences/tips? Need some motivation and hope!

Sorry to hear that @Waiting2BAMummy you're completely entitled to feel fed up. Sometimes it just feels downright unfair, big hugs to you xx

Mum still in hospital, now negative from Covid but still dealing with heart attack repercussions and trying to get her kidney failure under control, sadly it has deteriorated and looks to be permanent damage but she's in good spirits. Dad a bit down, was his birthday yesterday and I think not seeing Mum hit him. He got Covid too so had to isolate but again thankfully a mild case.

Enough drama for one family anyway!

Waiting2BAMummy · 10/11/2020 20:43

Bless them both @ChunkyButFunky87 hope they get your Mum sorted and she can be home soon. How are you feeling? Any sign of morning sickness?

Thanks, I do feel fed up but I’m trying to cling on to the positive that I did manage to conceive in March. Just want this cycle over now so I can start again.

Coolhand2 · 11/11/2020 16:06

@ChunkyButFunky87, those are nice lines from your test, it can't get any better than that. God bless your parents, that's a lot going on for them this year. It is well, encourage them to stay positive no matter how hard it feels.

@Waiting2BAMummy, how many dpo are you now? So sorry this has taken so long.

I am 8dpo today, have been feeling bloated. I don't have any tests left, so I might just wait for AF to arrive, I have to avoid the stores, this tests are expensive.

Waiting2BAMummy · 11/11/2020 17:24

I have no idea how many dpo I am @Coolhand2 or if I even ovulated. Neither OPK’s or OvuSense picked it up but I was only using OPK’s once a day so may have missed it. I’ve been feeling like AF is about to arrive for a few days but hasn’t shown up yet.

Waiting2BAMummy · 11/11/2020 17:27

Tests are expensive @Coolhand2 and I actually think it’s easier for AF to arrive than to get negative results. Fingers crossed you won’t need them for much longer x

ChunkyButFunky87 · 11/11/2020 19:28

Thank you @Coolhand2

Thank you @Waiting2BAMummy, yes I'm feeling good, odd bit of nausea, usually when I'm hungry but feeling well.

I know what you mean, you just want AF here so you know where you stand and can move on almost. Hard work this TTC malarkey, physically and mentally x

Coolhand2 · 12/11/2020 02:39

@Waiting2BAMummy, maybe you missed your positive opk if you didn't test a lot, I know you have ovusense, I think Ava would be good for you, since it's just a watch, hardly to forget. I think I need to work on my patience of waiting for AF to arrive, negatives are so disappointing.

Waiting2BAMummy · 12/11/2020 08:25

You’ll get there @Coolhand2 believe me I know how tough this journey is and the disappointment is hard to take. When you hold your beautiful little bundle of joy for the first time it will all have been worth it.

Coolhand2 · 12/11/2020 15:54

It's so nice when you say it like that🥰 @Waiting2BAMummy

Busybee143 · 12/11/2020 21:32

Guys you will all get there! TTC definitely comes with it's dark spells but you will get through them.
A little update from me, scan went really well today, we're having another little girl 😍💕

That’s great news @Busybee143 massive congratulations to you and DW. Beautiful baby yoda 😍😍

Busybee143 · 12/11/2020 21:51

Thank you @Waiting2BAMummy, I've had a really rough week so it's a nice nearly end to the week! Hope af shows for you soon or you get an unexpected surprise!

Waiting2BAMummy · 12/11/2020 22:32

Thank you @Busybee143 I ordered inofolic alpha as I’ve read really good things and it arrived today so have had my first 2 doses. Fingers crossed this brings af on soon and I don’t have another 44 days cycle.

Sorry you’ve had a bad week but I can’t think of a better way for it to be nearing the end x

ChunkyButFunky87 · 13/11/2020 06:47

Congrats @Busybee143 ! Looks like she'll be coming out boxing lol

6 weeks today for me! The want to be scanned is ridiculous but booked for 8 weeks to try and keep my sanity.

Feels like another little milestone, with the miscarriage they didn't want to know unless I got to 6 weeks and last night finally got my 3+ clearblue so it made me feel a little better

That’s great progression @ChunkyButFunky87 the next 2 weeks will fly by it’s already mid November. Easier said than done but try not to worry and just enjoy each day for what it is right now.

Overlyanxious · 13/11/2020 12:04

@ChunkyButFunky87 that’s a great test to see. Bring on week 8 for you.

@Busybee143 congratulations on having a girl Smile

@Coolhand2 how are you getting on?

@Waiting2BAMummy fingers crossed you get AF soon or for it to be a positive instead.

@Supermathsdoc what’s the latest for you?

I got my AF today, but not feeling too bad about it. I avoided mumsnet for a bit as I was getting a bit too obsessed in the tww. I’m going to try not to obsess quite so much this month. I got my fertility blood test results back today and everything is normal so that’s good to know.

Supermathsdoc · 13/11/2020 13:59

@Overlyanxious I couldn’t have asked for more in the end. My donor agreed to donate twice in the cycle, once he came round and the second time I collected.

I ovulated much earlier than I expected though in retrospect so the second was way too late but it was still positive for me as the whole thing was just much less stressful.

Into the 2WW now. Feeling cautiously optimistic x

Glad to hear all your tests have come back ok. Breaks from forums/social media are always good in my experience. Wishing you lots of good vibes for the next cycle x

Coolhand2 · 14/11/2020 03:55

Congratulations @Busybee143, how exciting to another little princess 🥰

Nice progression @ChunkyButFunky87, 8wks should get here soon.

@Overlyanxious, that's great, the test came back normal, hoping you get your bfp soon.

@Supermathsdoc, so glad your donor agreed to donate twice, even though it was further, you never know, it might catch, praying you get your bfp 🤞

Coolhand2 · 14/11/2020 04:02

At 9dpo night time I caved in and bought dollar store early detector test and to my surprise 2 lines, also tested at 10dpo am on a cheapie and I see a vvfl. I will wait a few days and test again.

ChunkyButFunky87 · 14/11/2020 10:03

Congratulations @Coolhand2 ! That's definitely a positive!

Waiting2BAMummy · 14/11/2020 10:40

Congratulations @Coolhand2 that’s great news.

Coolhand2 · 14/11/2020 11:04

Thank you ladies, I still can't believe it. I hope it sticks. I have been feeling so bloated and for the first month premom and Ava are saying the same thing, AF is due on Tuesday. I was surprised by my temps so high than usual too.

Busybee143 · 14/11/2020 12:51

@Coolhand2 omg wow congrats!!!!!!!!! So pleased for you!!!

Overlyanxious · 14/11/2020 14:31

@Coolhand2 congratulations - I’m so pleased for you.

@Supermathsdoc how did you end up deciding when to inseminate? I’m trying to work out what days to ask my donor. I was thinking day before lh surge normally is and lh surge day. He normally only does it once but hoping I can convince him to donate twice this month. Do you all think those are the best days to try?

Overlyanxious · 14/11/2020 14:36

I meant to say this month my bbt showed I ovulated on the day I got my lh surge so I feel like I need to also have the sperm there the day before just in case
