At Home Insemination - Buddies?

H8624 · 15/02/2020 17:58

For several reasons hubby and I are going down the route of at home insemination. It can be quite a lonely process I think - does anyone want to join me and we can go through it together/share tips etc?

Bit of background - we've tried for 2 months now both unsuccessful. I'm using clearblue ovulation detector to get my peak, and we've been doing the insemination every day from when I get my flashing smiley to the day after the peak, give or take the odd day! Using 10ml syringes and laying down afterwards for 20-30 mins.

Finding the 2ww a real struggle, and my heart breaks every time AF comes! I know it's only been 2 cycles and could take a lot longer so need to be patient! Altho feel like everyone around me is having babies which doesn't help!

Anyway sorry for going on - anyone want to join and share their experiences/tips? Need some motivation and hope!

@Waiting2BAMummy do you know I used to wonder about my diet when TTC, I started eating better and obviously it happened for me, could be a coincidence but I massively increased my exercise too.

I'm very nervous, I do feel pretty OK about it when I come to think about it. I've not had any bad signs so it is unlikely there will be something bad to come my way. Can't wait to see the little blob again.

Waiting2BAMummy · 19/10/2020 17:42

Much love for baby yoda @Busybee143

Busybee143 · 19/10/2020 18:06

@Waiting2BAMummy it may not be baby yoda if my due date moves, dp will be heart broken 😂

Waiting2BAMummy · 19/10/2020 18:17

She can still call him/her baby yoda @Busybee143 if you start calling them something else they won’t know who you’re talking to!! It’s in baby yo daddy best interest to remain consistent 😂😂

Busybee143 · 19/10/2020 18:45

@Waiting2BAMummy I've already told dp if it changes I'll just pretend it hasn't 😂

Waiting2BAMummy · 19/10/2020 18:51

You’re a good mummy @Busybee143 🤰🏻

Busybee143 · 19/10/2020 22:11

Aww thankyou 😁😁

Coolhand2 · 20/10/2020 05:09

@Waiting2BAMummy, this was 2nd month using premom, and it was spot on for AF unlike other apps, For O-day, it predicted a day after my peak, always earlier than other apps, I want to pay more attention to it, I take my temps from Ava and put them in premom and FF.
@Busybee143, it's the start of a new cycle, I don't know what to do more, maybe I should eat healthy and exercise, I feel I have gained weight this few months, working from home. It's getting cold here, I can't take my bike out.

Busybee143 · 20/10/2020 09:29

@Coolhand2 what do you currently do each cycle?

AlisonT13 · 20/10/2020 10:08

@Waiting2BAMummy

That's exactly my problem *@Busybee143*, I could never figure out if the line was dark enough which is why I started using the clearblue advanced but then I read that this picks up the surge later than some OPK's and when you're older the time difference between your positive opk and ovulation can reduce, so much so that you can ovulate on the day of your positive. I have downloaded the premom app that scans your sticks and the easy@home opks that go with them. Going all out this month!

I definitely think my bad food indulgence last month had an effect as I've used my ovusense for 2 days this month and my temps are approx 0.4 degrees lower than at the start of last month.

You're scan is getting closer, I'm sure that you're both excited and worried in equal measure.

Did you find your LH peak in this cycle? Could you share screenshots of the Premom app's tests page?
Waiting2BAMummy · 20/10/2020 17:04

I haven’t started testing yet @AlisonT13 I’ve just finished taking soy isoflavones so can’t test now until Thursday as you can get false positives.

Coolhand2 · 20/10/2020 22:59

@Busybee143, I use opks and Ava, plot the temps on FF and premom. That's all I do.

Busybee143 · 21/10/2020 09:34

@Coolhand2 when do you work out when to inseminate? I was only doing opks and taking the odd vitamin, I was consciously eating more protein though!

ChunkyButFunky87 · 22/10/2020 08:54

Morning ladies

Good luck for scan day @Busybee143

Well I'm in the 2WW and it's safe to say I have enough distraction. My mum is back in hospital as the heart attack meds have caused her kidney transplant to start rejecting. She got admitted on Tuesday . . And now has Corona too.

Seriously. 2020. Do one Sad

Pregnancy seems like it'd be too positive for me right now coz this year quite frankly is turning out to be a bag of shite!

Eugh, rant over! Sorry!

ChunkyButFunky87 · 22/10/2020 09:09

Ps I do think the weight query is part of it. I realised the month we fell pregnant in April I'd lost 10lb at the start of lockdown.

I've since put weight on and I know I need to sort it. I'm still doing my Couch25K which I think I've used as too much of an excuse to just eat what I want. I also stress/emotion eat and there's been a lot of that!

Busybee143 · 22/10/2020 09:42

Thankyou @ChunkyButFunky87 I'm so very nervous! I'll let you all know how it goes, I woke up with horrendous cramp this morning so the day hasn't started well in terms of not worrying.
I'm so sorry to hear about your mum, from what you've described she sounds like a right fighter though, sending some positive vibes and lots of well wishes to the both of you. Glad to hear your C25k is going well, I started running a couple of days ago but only slower that usual 2ks. I thought it was best to get a couple of runs in before the scan for reassurance.
I really hope this month is your month, you deserve it so much.

Waiting2BAMummy · 22/10/2020 10:27

I’m so sorry to hear that @ChunkyButFunky87 fingers crossed this is your month. Hope your mum is okay.

Good luck today @Busybee143 the cramping could just be baby yoda reminding you he/she is there.

Wishing you both the best today Flowers

Overlyanxious · 22/10/2020 12:11

@ChunkyButFunky87 I’m sorry to hear about your mum - I hope she recovers quickly. Fingers crossed this is your month.

@Busybee143 good luck and fingers crossed for today.

I keep obsessively looking up vitamins to see if there are different ones I should take. I can’t believe how expensive all the fertility vitamins are!

Overlyanxious · 22/10/2020 14:42

I’m looking for some advice for when to inseminate this month. I only get one donation a month. I use the clear blue opks and normally just inseminate on the day I get the smiley face. However I’ve also read if you’re older (I’m 37) the time between the positive and ovulation can be reduced - so now I don’t know if I need to inseminate the day before I think I will get a peak.

I got pregnant once (and then had a miscarriage) where I just inseminated on the day of the positive opk.

Busybee143 · 22/10/2020 19:09

All well today guys, one happy wriggly baby. Took a while to get the measurements as baby was being awkward, I was so glad to see baby I'd have happily led there for hours waiting 😁 EDD 30th April, bang on 13 weeks today!

@Busybee143 that’s brilliant - and such a clear picture. Bring on April Smile

Waiting2BAMummy · 22/10/2020 19:56

What a beauty, that’s such good news @Busybee143 you give me hope!

The day of the positive OPK is probably good idea @Overlyanxious as, as you say, the time between the positive and ovulation reduces as you get older and can even happen on the same day. I’ve also read that the clearblue OPK’s tend to detect the surge on the late side and when I was previously using them I got a positive on a cheap opk the night before I got my static smiley face. Good luck and sorry for your miscarriage.

ChunkyButFunky87 · 22/10/2020 20:41

Congrats @Busybee143 I'm putting my money on a boy! Lol

Waiting2BAMummy · 22/10/2020 20:46

How long after your positive opk does that mean you conceived @Busybee143? Also when did you inseminate after your positive? I’m arranging to meet my donor on Monday (CD15). FF and premom are predicting ovulation will be Tuesday/Wednesday but I need the morning off work to meet him so I can’t wait until my positive opk to know if it’s the right time. Took my first one today but premom says it’s low, obviously that has days to change just wondering how early is too early I guess.

Busybee143 · 22/10/2020 21:07

Thank you guys, we are over the moon. I think I ovulated August the 7th and I inseminated on that day and two days before according to temperatures. On the opks I got my peak the 5th/6th, that's what I was saying about thinking I'd missed it but tbf I could have caught on the first insemination I guess.
