At Home Insemination - Buddies?

For several reasons hubby and I are going down the route of at home insemination. It can be quite a lonely process I think - does anyone want to join me and we can go through it together/share tips etc?

Bit of background - we've tried for 2 months now both unsuccessful. I'm using clearblue ovulation detector to get my peak, and we've been doing the insemination every day from when I get my flashing smiley to the day after the peak, give or take the odd day! Using 10ml syringes and laying down afterwards for 20-30 mins.

Finding the 2ww a real struggle, and my heart breaks every time AF comes! I know it's only been 2 cycles and could take a lot longer so need to be patient! Altho feel like everyone around me is having babies which doesn't help!

Anyway sorry for going on - anyone want to join and share their experiences/tips? Need some motivation and hope!

Don’t you dare apologise @Busybee143 your worries and concerns are no less important than ours and I seem to recall we asked you to stick around. I hope you’re just having an easy pregnancy and it’s not bad news.

@ChunkyButFunky87 @Waiting2BAMummy thanks guys it honestly means a lot. Roll on scan day eh!!

Overlyanxious · 16/10/2020 19:15

Hi, I’ve been reading this thread for a few days and thought I would say hello. I’ve been ttc through donor insemination and found out today another month has gone past where it’s not worked. I feel so rubbish about it this month. I’m 37 and am really feeling the pressure due to my age. I really wish I could stop obsessing about it.

Overlyanxious · 16/10/2020 19:19

I keep checking in on here in the hope of hearing good news. I think I’m addicted to success stories Smile

ChunkyButFunky87 · 17/10/2020 10:39

When's you're scan @Busybee143 ?

Welcome @Overlyanxious

Just been watching 'Miscarriage our story' on Channel 5 catch up, I find it quite therapeutic just reminding myself it's so common and so many people have their own stories

Busybee143 · 17/10/2020 11:45

Welcome to the group @Overlyanxious, lets hope I can bring us a success story then!
My scan is on Thursday, I want it to come quick but I don't because I'm on half term 😂

Overlyanxious · 17/10/2020 13:10

@Busybee143 I’m keeping my fingers crossed for you

Waiting2BAMummy · 17/10/2020 17:23

Hi @Overlyanxious welcome to the craziness!

Fingers crossed all will be well @Busybee143 x

Busybee143 · 17/10/2020 18:48

Thank you guys, I will keep you all updated x

Overlyanxious · 18/10/2020 09:15

@ChunkyButFunky87 thank you. I’ve also had a miscarriage and also find it therapeutic to remind myself how common they are. And I also try to remind myself that for all the people I don’t know that well that seem to be having babies now - I don’t actually know if they’ve been through it previously or not.

My current stress is I’ve messaged my donor about donating and he hasn’t replied yet. Normally he replies really quickly. I’m now worried I have to quickly find someone else.

Waiting2BAMummy · 18/10/2020 10:23

Try not to worry @Overlyanxious my donor can be a bit like that but always gets back to me. Sorry to hear of your miscarriage it sucks I had one in March and it had taken 18 months to get that. Fingers crossed for you this month hope your donor gets back to you soon.

Waiting2BAMummy · 18/10/2020 10:32

How you doing @ChunkyButFunky87?

I’m throwing everything at this month have upped COQ10 to 300mg, taking soy, have download the premom app and ordered easy@home opks which should get around my issue of not knowing if the line is dark enough. My only stress is that I don’t currently have a donor confirmed as my previous one was moving!

ChunkyButFunky87 · 18/10/2020 11:31

Hopefully you both get donors sorted @Waiting2BAMummy @Overlyanxious

We've had 2 goes this week, CD 12 & 13, as thought ovulating, EWCM etc however I got this yday from Ava so not sure if missed the Mark

Waiting2BAMummy · 18/10/2020 11:48

Can you try again today @ChunkyButFunky87, just in case?

Busybee143 · 18/10/2020 13:04

@ChunkyButFunky87 get it done today! Takes averagely 24 hours for the egg to drop!!!!

ChunkyButFunky87 · 18/10/2020 13:22

This was actually Friday (completely losing the plot) Hubby wasn't up to it and yesterday ran away so fairly sure that's done now. Nevermind

Busybee143 · 18/10/2020 13:38

@ChunkyButFunky87 I honestly think I caught 1-2 days after my apparent ovulation so you're still in with a chance!!

Waiting2BAMummy · 18/10/2020 15:50

You’ve got nothing to lose @ChunkyButFunky87 keep the faith x

Overlyanxious · 19/10/2020 11:51

@ChunkyButFunky87 I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Luckily my donor finally responded so all set. I’ve been messed around a bit by previous donors so went into panic mode unnecessarily.

I also keep wondering whether my body is still messed up after my miscarriage. My periods have become so painful and heavy.

How are you getting on @Waiting2BAMummy? Throwing everything at it sounds good. I keep having acupuncture on and off in the hope it will help.

Waiting2BAMummy · 19/10/2020 13:04

Glad your donor got back in touch @Overlyanxious I don't know about you but I feel so much calmer about all of this when I have a plan. Wishing you luck for this month.

I messaged a donor I have been chatting with last night as he said he needs around a weeks notice (not necessarily an exact day) and fertility friend and premom are predicting ovulation will be Tuesday/Wednesday next week so am thinking I should meet him on Monday. He only does one donation per month as he says one at the right time is all you need. Yes, I know that thanks but do you know how hard it is to pinpoint the exact right time?! Probably explains why none of the people he is helping directly (he has donated to a clinic before) have been successful! I'm desperate though and I can't have a month of not trying. I guess I have a week to try and find someone else.

Coolhand2 · 19/10/2020 14:38

Hey guys, nice to see everyone is doing well. So excited for your scan @Busybee143, everything is going well, enjoy every moment.

My AF came Saturday as premom predicted again, so CD3 today. I have to order opks as the ones I had have finished. Hopefully I catch the egg this month.

Welcome @Overlyanxious, I feel you on the age thing, it could be nice if things went according to our plans. Glad your donor got back to you and things are set.

@Waiting2BAMummy, so glad you found another donor, I was thinking when he said 1 donation, that it's so hard to pinpoint the right time, but 1 is better than nothing.

Overlyanxious · 19/10/2020 14:51

@Waiting2BAMummy yes the Monday sounds like it will work. My donor also only does donation once a month - but he can be flexible so that if I get a positive on my opk he can see me the same day.

Yes I get really anxious about the thought of having a month of not trying. You could have a couple of donors on the go - my donor says he knows that some women use a couple of different donors at a time. I tried to do that but the other donor suddenly started blanking me for no reason.

Waiting2BAMummy · 19/10/2020 14:52

Wishing you luck for this month @Coolhand2 - do you find that premom is right with ovulation prediction?

Premom is saying Wednesday is peak time but fertility friend is saying Monday and Tuesday.

Busybee143 · 19/10/2020 16:01

@Coolhand2 thank you, I'm excited and nervous. Start of a new cycle for you then, any new plans for this cycle?

@Waiting2BAMummy @Overlyanxious one donation is definitely better than nothing, I am honestly so thankful we found a donor willing to donate to us, there are some kind people out there. I know some of you aren't using opks and I probably sound a little crazy but I used to stick all my opks in a little book (I know you can do this on an app but I like to do things by hand) and I used to track which sticks I had had my donation around (as for me knowing when my peak was the problem as I got a lot of dark lines at times) then I used to move where I had my donation as it obviously hadn't worked and then each month I had my previous opk rainbow to compare better of I actually had my peak or not. I know you guys probably know a lot already but if you're at your wits end maybe trying something new will help but it could be a load of crap too 😂

Waiting2BAMummy · 19/10/2020 16:46

That's exactly my problem @Busybee143, I could never figure out if the line was dark enough which is why I started using the clearblue advanced but then I read that this picks up the surge later than some OPK's and when you're older the time difference between your positive opk and ovulation can reduce, so much so that you can ovulate on the day of your positive. I have downloaded the premom app that scans your sticks and the easy@home opks that go with them. Going all out this month!

I definitely think my bad food indulgence last month had an effect as I've used my ovusense for 2 days this month and my temps are approx 0.4 degrees lower than at the start of last month.

You're scan is getting closer, I'm sure that you're both excited and worried in equal measure.
