At Home Insemination - Buddies?

H8624 · 15/02/2020 17:58

For several reasons hubby and I are going down the route of at home insemination. It can be quite a lonely process I think - does anyone want to join me and we can go through it together/share tips etc?

Bit of background - we've tried for 2 months now both unsuccessful. I'm using clearblue ovulation detector to get my peak, and we've been doing the insemination every day from when I get my flashing smiley to the day after the peak, give or take the odd day! Using 10ml syringes and laying down afterwards for 20-30 mins.

Finding the 2ww a real struggle, and my heart breaks every time AF comes! I know it's only been 2 cycles and could take a lot longer so need to be patient! Altho feel like everyone around me is having babies which doesn't help!

Anyway sorry for going on - anyone want to join and share their experiences/tips? Need some motivation and hope!

Hi Ladies, how is everyone?

I’m CD 16 today, met my new donor yesterday but my OPK’s are still nowhere near positive. I messaged a previous donor is lovely but is a four hour round trip away and works away (generally when I need him) and fortunately he is around this week so I am seeing him definitely tomorrow and Friday and maybe Sunday. That will cover me from days 15-21 so fingers crossed. Am going to keep using the OPK’s and today’s did look darker although premom have it the same score as a much lighter one so who knows 🤷🏻‍♀️ Going all out this month and next (hopefully not) as I believe I could be due to ovulate around Christmas which will be a royal pain in the bum!

Overlyanxious · 28/10/2020 14:21

@Waiting2BAMummy fingers crossed this month will be your month 😀 I’m expecting my positive opk tomorrow - but we will see. My cycle has changed a bit recently. My Dr has said she will put me forward for some blood tests and a pelvic ultrasound to check for any issues - she doesn’t think there will be but thinks it will be reassuring to know I’m all ok.

ChunkyButFunky87 · 28/10/2020 14:44

Fingers crossed you can save yourself a xmas round and catch before @Waiting2BAMummy

Well I'm due on anytime now. I've not been having the best of weeks, my Dad now has Covid too, my Mums heart is playing up again and stopping her kidney functioning so its all just a bit overwhelming. I'd be gobsmacked if I was pregnant this month as the stress levels have been through the roof.

However, I'm now off work for the rest of the week, prepping for surprising my daughter for her 4th birthday with a new bedroom so I'm trying to be positive and focus on her than all the doom and gloom elsewhere. Hubby and I are mid way through blitzing the house, sorting, throwing stuff we don't need, gifting stuff we don't use and generally trying to reset the mindset!

Good luck for the coming days ladies x

Hi ladies,
I'm CD12 today and premom says fertile period started yesterday and O is cd16. I managed to SI today, have to juggle how many times to do it so I cover the whole window, and other apps go to cd18. I am working from home plus taking care of my 21mth old, it's hard, thankfully my projects are not so pressing now.

@Overlyanxious, hope you get your positive opk soon. I would do the tests just to be sure everything is ok. I wish my dr would do that but everything takes long where I am, appointments would be 4+ mths away.
@Waiting2BAMummy, That's so good, you will manage to use both donors this cycle, go all out. We are all about to enter our tww, God bless us with July babies, my birthday month.

@ChunkyButFunky87, so sorry to hear about your mom and dad, I pray they get better. Your daughter will be so excited with her new room🥰 I have been wanting to decorate my son's room but haven't.
@Busybee143, I love your scan, so cute cute🥰 I am so excited for you. 2nd trimester should be fun and lots of energy. Are you going to find out the sex?

Waiting2BAMummy · 28/10/2020 20:08

Hope you get your positive opk tomorrow @Overlyanxious Good luck.

So sorry to hear about your mum and dad @ChunkyButFunky87 I hope that they’re both feeling better really soon.

Good luck @Coolhand2 hopefully you’re covering all bases.

So my donor pulled out on me today I could have gone this afternoon but he he said we wasn’t home until 8 so we arranged for me to get there at 8:30. Just after 6pm he messaged to ask if I could get there earlier but it’s a 2 hour drive and when I said the earliest I could get there would be 8 he said he couldn’t do tonight. He can only do tomorrow during the day and I’m at work so we’ve arranged Friday night. I haven’t got a positive opk yet thankfully but now I’m just concerned that he’ll cancel again.

Busybee143 · 28/10/2020 21:16

@Overlyanxious hope you get your positive opk.
@ChunkyButFunky87 so sorry to hear your having a rubbish time, you never know this might be your month as you have been so distracted.
@Coolhand2 you sound like you have a good plan this month, good luck!! My lo is 16 months so not too much between them, we're having a nightmare with her sleeping at the moment, it's really tiring!! I've got a little more energy but I still feel a bit rubbish, I've started running again though so that's made me happier. I've got a gender scan booked for the 12th we are beyond excited!!
@Waiting2BAMummy so sorry about your donor try not to worry about whether he will cancel again as it is out of your control, as far as we know your next insemination will happen, think positive.
Glad to hear off you guys tonight?! Keeping everything crossed for you all!! ❤️

ChunkyButFunky87 · 28/10/2020 21:28

Thanks all x

Sorry to hear that @Waiting2BAMummy must be pretty frustrating I'm sure, maybe it's meant to be and it's just holding out til you get a strong opk!

ChunkyButFunky87 · 29/10/2020 11:49

Ladies you won't bloody believe it!!

This morning I'm rushing around and had been awake since 3am with DD, around 7am I felt really sick but realised up for 4 hour with nothing to eat and it was really hot in the house. I have no idea why I just had the urge, it's midday, and within a minute I got this!

4 weeks today!! I have never got a positive this early!!

Waiting2BAMummy · 29/10/2020 12:07

Donor has cancelled for tomorrow - I give up!

Hope everyone is having a good day

Waiting2BAMummy · 29/10/2020 12:08

Oh wow @ChunkyButFunky87 that’s amazing congratulations and fingers crossed for a super sticky bean x

Busybee143 · 29/10/2020 13:03

Omg wow @ChunkyButFunky87 congratulations!!, so that will mean you are 10 weeks behind me :D
@Waiting2BAMummy has he given you a reason? Is funding another donor an option?

Waiting2BAMummy · 29/10/2020 13:18

No explanation just said he can’t do it @Busybee143 there are a couple of donors I’ve set to favourite but haven’t spoken to either of them yet

ChunkyButFunky87 · 29/10/2020 13:51

Sorry to hear that @Waiting2BAMummy it sounds crap Sad

Thank you ladies, genuine disbelief right now

H8624 · 29/10/2020 14:00

@ChunkyButFunky87 yay congratulations! So happy for you and keeping everything crossed for a sticky one. That's a good line for quite early as well! X

@ChunkyButFunky87 sorry to hear about everything you are going through, but congratulations on the test 🎉

@Waiting2BAMummy I’m sorry to hear about your donor - I do hate the stress of not knowing if they will cancel or not.

Thanks for all the luck ladies - I haven’t got my positive yet, but my donor can only do today now so I’m just having to go with that.

@Coolhand2 good luck for this month

ChunkyButFunky87 · 29/10/2020 17:20

I had one left from a while ago, just decided to try tonight, so again not even FMU and these are supposed to not be very strong initially.

Surreal day, sinking in

Waiting2BAMummy · 29/10/2020 17:23

So pleased for you @ChunkyButFunky87

I’m frantically trying to find a donor but the want NI and I’m categorically not prepared to do that. Maybe this is just a sign that I’m not meant to get pregnant.

ChunkyButFunky87 · 29/10/2020 17:28

Excuse my ignorance, NI?

@Waiting2BAMummy not at all, if it's what you want then don't give up, have you considered follicular scans to help?

Waiting2BAMummy · 29/10/2020 18:00

natural insemination (sex) @ChunkyButFunky87

I think I've been trying at the wrong time, that's why I've bought the Ovusense but I stopped using it too early last month. I'm using it again and using OPK's but no sign of a rise yet and it's CD18 today.

ChunkyButFunky87 · 29/10/2020 18:05

Oh wow, no I understand that's generally not the reason people choose to go to a donor @Waiting2BAMummy

I wish I had more I could offer but I guess I'm lucky that I have hubby in that sense and don't have that stress to go alongside it.

Please don't give up though and remember you're not alone x

Waiting2BAMummy · 29/10/2020 18:33

Thank you @ChunkyButFunky87 - luff you guys x

Overlyanxious · 29/10/2020 20:05

@Waiting2BAMummy please don’t give up hope. I’ve had issues with donors in the past and I know that horrible feeling of panic. Have you looked at different websites to find a donor? I know there are a few about. Every time I don’t get pregnant/issues happen with donors I keep telling myself it wasn’t meant to be because it’s meant to happen at some other point

Waiting2BAMummy · 30/10/2020 09:48

Thanks @Overlyanxious

I think I’ve just talked myself out of a donor. I had one arranged but he was pushing for PI (I’m guessing this is partial intercourse?! 🤷🏻‍♀️) but I said I’m only prepared to fo AI. He then said he would need to produce his sample in front of me I messaged back to say I wasn’t comfortable with that so now he’s ignoring me. MEN!!!!

Overlyanxious · 30/10/2020 10:05

@Waiting2BAMummy oh that’s horrible. What is wrong with these men?

Waiting2BAMummy · 30/10/2020 10:25

The number of donors that will only donate through NI is unreal @Overlyanxious. I don’t get it if they’re truly doing it for altruistic reasons why does the method of delivery matter to them?
