At Home Insemination - Buddies?

H8624 · 15/02/2020 17:58

For several reasons hubby and I are going down the route of at home insemination. It can be quite a lonely process I think - does anyone want to join me and we can go through it together/share tips etc?

Bit of background - we've tried for 2 months now both unsuccessful. I'm using clearblue ovulation detector to get my peak, and we've been doing the insemination every day from when I get my flashing smiley to the day after the peak, give or take the odd day! Using 10ml syringes and laying down afterwards for 20-30 mins.

Finding the 2ww a real struggle, and my heart breaks every time AF comes! I know it's only been 2 cycles and could take a lot longer so need to be patient! Altho feel like everyone around me is having babies which doesn't help!

Anyway sorry for going on - anyone want to join and share their experiences/tips? Need some motivation and hope!

I am 5dpo today, and no symptoms. Hopefully I will test at 10dpo, I have 1 test left.
How is the pregnancy @Busybee143

Waiting2BAMummy · 10/10/2020 19:04

Thank you @Busybee143 I’m fully expecting it to be negative but will be happily proved wrong.

How are you doing?

Busybee143 · 10/10/2020 21:59

@Coolhand2 I had no symptoms really apart from sore boobs but that was a couple of days before af was due so it sounds like your doing well! I just used to use the cheap tests cos I got so sick of spending money ha.
@Waiting2BAMummy not necessarily, think positive, sending you lots of positive vibes.

The pregnancy is going well I think, I had a bit of pink discharge on Tuesday morning so I was in EPU on Thursday morning for a scan. Baby has grown 9 days in a week which is good as I was a little behind but there was a little but of blood below the sac so I'm not totally safe yet I guess. I've had no spotting since Tuesday so I'm hoping everything works out, I have my 12 week scan on 22nd so fingers crossed.

Waiting2BAMummy · 11/10/2020 08:43

Keeping everything crossed for you @Busybee143 sorry you’re having that stress. Stay strong baby yoda x

As I suspected got a BFN this morning. I’m going to wait until my next AF should be due and if it doesn’t arrive I guess I’ll have to go to the doctors.

Busybee143 · 11/10/2020 09:20

@Waiting2BAMummy so sorry its a bfn, I'm still keeping everything crossed for you.

I guess it's all part of being pregnant, Im just hoping the spotting was a one off. I feel pretty good about it all but the 12 week scan can't come quick enough, I'm quite anxious though as it's still no partners allowed for me. Hate going to scans on my own but im also very greatful to be pregnant so I just need to suck it up and get on with it! We will book a private 16 week scan so wifey can see baby yoda then 😊

ChunkyButFunky87 · 11/10/2020 10:38

Hopefully nothing to worry about @Busybee143

Sorry it's a BFN @Waiting2BAMummy xx

Well after 6 months of no physical action with my hubby, last night he suddenly had a 'good feeling' shall we say . . And finally having some grown up time . . And up wakes our DD. Completely cock blocked . . And we wonder why conception is hard enough as it is GrinGrinGrin we can laugh about it this morning, just shame didnt to see how things went, he feels a bit more positive though that was feeling able to have a go in first place, just sadly didn't get there so we'll continue with usually method next week, currently CD 10

Busybee143 · 11/10/2020 11:43

Hopefully @ChunkyButFunky87
That's really good and very positive, hopefully this will be the start of something new for you guys

Waiting2BAMummy · 11/10/2020 17:39

Hopefully that wasn’t just a one off @ChunkyButFunky87 but it’s definitely good news that he’s more positive about things. As @Busybee143 maybe this is a the start of something and you’ll could alternate between natural and artificial.

I’ve started getting pink when I wipe so the witch is coming in to land. Honestly I’m just happy to be able to move on, Sod’s law she waits until I’d POAS though!

ChunkyButFunky87 · 14/10/2020 08:41

Morning ladies,

So this is my current Ava. Definitely think I've ovulated a little earlier this month, according to apps they have tomorrow & Monday shown as O day. But had EWCM yesterday and then clocked my temps have gone up 3 days in a row. We only managed our first attempt yesterday, wondering if already too late and if another try tonight would be a waste Hmm

Completely forgot to start using opk's alongside

Thoughts?

Coolhand2 · 14/10/2020 09:47

@ChunkyButFunky87 looks like you could have ovulated early with the 3 day temp rise but I would still try as planned, you never know.

I tested today at 9dpo, got a bfn on a frer and I had a sharp drop in temps few days ago, it didn't give me much hope this month, hopefully Nov will be my lucky month.

Busybee143 · 14/10/2020 11:05

@ChunkyButFunky87 try again! I inseminated when I thought I was too late and it worked!! I've learnt later is better for me, well later than I was doing!

ChunkyButFunky87 · 14/10/2020 11:22

Well this is it @Busybee143 I'm a bit sad but I think if I felt what I thought were ovulation pains yesterday then maybe the egg is a little bit closer today and the sperm would get there quicker!

I swear I have a whole conversation with myself in my head about the logic of conception and what might work. ever the optimist!

Hopefully not much longer for us eh @Coolhand2

Busybee143 · 14/10/2020 15:01

@ChunkyButFunky87 there's no exact science how long your egg takes to drop in your body, I'm guessing with me I'm at least a day after my peak so just go for it and hope for the best! Don't forget there is people out there taking good precautions and they get caught out, could be your lucky month x

ChunkyButFunky87 · 14/10/2020 15:12

I know, which is why I now believe all this BS they spout in sex Ed is ridiculous - don't have sex you'll get pregnant! What about the flip side for those who can't just blink and be up the duff! (I know too many of those , I'm just jealous!)

Here's to hoping anyway @Busybee143

Busybee143 · 14/10/2020 15:20

Just keep trying, it will happen when you least expect it.
Remember what progress you and hubby have made this month too, that's a massive positive from this month

Waiting2BAMummy · 14/10/2020 15:22

Good luck @ChunkyButFunky87 it certainly can’t hurt to have another try and if you don’t you’ll wonder what if.

Has to be our month soon, right?!

ChunkyButFunky87 · 14/10/2020 20:12

Well this is what I'm thinking @Waiting2BAMummy lol

In all seriousness although I've been off the pill since November 2018, we spent most of that time struggling to do anything, so it's only been since April this year we've been successfully trying each month. Obviously the miscarriage on month 1, so reality is we're only 6 months into the average 1 year window.

I really really really would like to be pregnant this side of the year, purely because it would then be perfect when my little one starts school in September, but I'll take what I'm given if it means we have a baby even next year x

Busybee143 · 14/10/2020 21:12

@ChunkyButFunky87 seee that's what we like to hear, and trying for 6 months is deffo not long as you said. It took me a few months to get comfortable with what we were doing (the actual process haha).
Hope everything is OK with you @Waiting2BAMummy
You will fall pregnant again, it will happen!!

ChunkyButFunky87 · 15/10/2020 19:31

Baby Loss awareness wave of light day. Never thought I'd be part of the statistics, to think I'd be 12 weeks away from giving birth right now. Still can't help but think about what could have been.

Hope you're all ok today ladies xx

Busybee143 · 15/10/2020 21:27

@ChunkyButFunky87 I hear you.

How are you feeling about it all? I hate that miscarriage is a tabboo subject, like it's just something that happens all the time and we should just accept it as norm.

Do you know I really hate the whole tell people at 12 weeks thing and people thinking your stupid for telling people any earlier incase something goes wrong. The first 12 weeks is the time you need to most support and I feel on the whole it's frowned upon for women to tell people they are pregnant any earlier. I also think telling people sooner being the norm would be better as women would get the support they needed and maybe miscarriage could be a subject that is better understood.
Am I making any sense or have I just got to crazy teacher mental status as I'm awaiting the last day of term tomorrow?

ChunkyButFunky87 · 16/10/2020 06:47

No completely making sense @Busybee143

I told my mum and sisters at 5 weeks, I miscarried at 5+2 and the thought of telling them after 'oh I was pregnant now I'm not' is so much worse. They were so supportive, my Mum having had 2 herself and one of my sisters had 1 also so between the 5 of us that's 4 lost babies.

I agree it's almost a suffer in silence for a lot of people and it shouldn't be

Busybee143 · 16/10/2020 06:55

@ChunkyButFunky87 it's so wrong. I understand that it is fairly common especially so early on but it doesn't mean it's not heart wrenching.
Hope your OK today x

Waiting2BAMummy · 16/10/2020 07:26

I’m with you @ChunkyButFunky87 I would have been due in December and I was so excited. I was waking up really early in those days after my positive test and watching YouTube videos of ‘a day in the life of a newborn’ etc. One of my colleagues is due the same time so I’m dreading the inevitable baby pictures that will arrive. Hope you’re being kind to yourself this week xx

How are you doing @Busybee143?

I decided I’m going to take soy isoflavones this month so started them yesterday. Can’t wait for AF to finish so I can start using my ovusense again and hopefully have a better cycle this month.

Busybee143 · 16/10/2020 08:22

@Waiting2BAMummy sounds like you have a good plan this month!
I'm OK ish, I'm super anxious though, I've got a scan on Thursday and I've convinced myself it will be bad news. I just don't feel that pregnant currently and I swear my discharge was a pinky colour this morning. I'm hoping everything will work out, I couldn't handle loosing bubba at this stage, I'm 12 weeks now. I'm sorry I'm moaning to you guys, I feel really weak being so anxious but I just can't help it.
Hope it happens soon for you all then we can all moan about it together x

ChunkyButFunky87 · 16/10/2020 08:25

@Busybee143 never apologise, we started this journey together for a reason and we're here for the highs and lows.

@Waiting2BAMummy think we'll both be in that boat, 8th January will forever be ingrained in my head now sadly but hopefully there's happier times to come x
