At Home Insemination - Buddies?

For several reasons hubby and I are going down the route of at home insemination. It can be quite a lonely process I think - does anyone want to join me and we can go through it together/share tips etc?

Bit of background - we've tried for 2 months now both unsuccessful. I'm using clearblue ovulation detector to get my peak, and we've been doing the insemination every day from when I get my flashing smiley to the day after the peak, give or take the odd day! Using 10ml syringes and laying down afterwards for 20-30 mins.

Finding the 2ww a real struggle, and my heart breaks every time AF comes! I know it's only been 2 cycles and could take a lot longer so need to be patient! Altho feel like everyone around me is having babies which doesn't help!

Anyway sorry for going on - anyone want to join and share their experiences/tips? Need some motivation and hope!

Good luck @ChunkyButFunky87 my donor is visiting again tonight but think I might have ovulated Sunday or yesterday as my temperature has risen the last two mornings, not a huge amount but still a rise. Hope the TWW passes quickly.

I’m so sorry @bitheby have you heard/read anything about coq10 or ubiquinol? They are supposed to improve egg quality.

Obviously it's only been 4 days and the night before last missed but the fact my temp is climbing already I can only presume I'd missed actual ovulation. Last night being our first go, do you think it's worth another try this month or too late?

I’m kind of in the same boat @ChunkyButFunky87 my temps started climbing yesterday after a dip on Sunday so I think I ovulated on Sunday and don’t want to waste my donors time if I’ve already ovulated.

@Waiting2BAMummy yes see what you mean. What do we do!! Decisions, decisions. See I know should leave a day in between attempts but then I'd definitely be past ovulation so seems pointless, unless we do 2 in a row and go again tonight if hubby is up to it.

This is hard work sometimes!

Sometimes @ChunkyButFunky87?? Even with the kit that’s supposed to help we still don’t know what the right thing to do is!!

Then if we don’t do it are we going to wonder what it?! I think I’m going to go with it as my donor is moving anyway so this is my last try with him before he moves. Rather be safe than sorry. Hope your hubby is up to another try tonight.

How is your temp this morning @ChunkyButFunky87? Did hubby agree to try last night?

My temp dropped again this morning but I only wore the ovusense for 6 hours and only 5 of those was I actually in bed where as I normally use in when I get into bed but I was doing stuff and you have to wear it for a minimum of 6 hours so I don’t know if that’s thrown my temperature off or if I haven’t actually ovulated yet.

No sadly no attempt last night @Waiting2BAMummy due to DD worsening nighttime routine at the moment, we've hit the 'I'm scared/monsters/shadows/what's that noise' phase and Its taking forever to get her down to sleep. I ended up just going to bed with her at 9 and staying.

I'm not sure what this means now also, hard to say with such little data, may have another go tonight just incase

Looks like your temp dipped this morning too @ChunkyButFunky87 so maybe you’ve not ovulated yet. Fingers crossed for you x

@Waiting2BAMummy yeah possibly, hard when not got the full picture for this month. I think one more tonight just incase and then hopefully by next month at least I'll have a full month of data to get a better idea.

DD randomly came out to one of the staff at her nursery "I'm waiting for a baby brother or sister but I'm not sure when I'm getting one" (no idea where it came from Tbf) just breaks my heart a little

@ChunkyButFunky87 looking at those temps it doesn't look like you've ovulated yet, altho hard to tell with not much data. May have been a slight rise as it's been hot the past couple of days anyway (if you're in UK!). But to confirm ovulation in general you should have a sustained rise of at least 3 days (that's what fertility friend told me anyway!) Sometimes temp can drop the day before you ovulate as well so I would definitely try and get in another try tonight if you can :)

@ChunkyButFunky87 yeah so I would guess the heat probably had an impact on temps (altho dont quote me on that lol). What CD are you and when do you usually ovulate roughly? Like do you think you should have ovulated yet?

Usually there's a noticeable rise after ovulation so hopefully you'll be able to see a day or 2 after that you have clearly ovulated, but then after 3 days it should confirm it!

@H8624 CD14, which Tbf I think I'm usually 15-16, however last month was definitely an early 12 and the last time I got pregnant, we only did 1 insem and that was CD14!

That’s why I don’t think I’m not sure now if I’ve ovulated or not @H8624 I had a dip on Sunday followed by a rise Monday and Tuesday so expected another rise but it dipped again. That said it was 1.30am before I went to bed which is much later than usual so I don’t know if that makes a difference.

I think you’re still in with a chance this month @ChunkyButFunky87 as I agree I don’t think you’ve ovulated yet and that temp drop today could mean it’s imminent which makes today perfect timing.

@Waiting2BAMummy yeah I'd probably say you may not have ovulated yet! Can you squeeze in any more tries?

This is all just my view tho - I am certainly not a pro at temping!

I had an attempt last night but that’s it for this cycle @H8624.

Random question, how much donation do you generally get?!

Obvs this is me and hubby, not a donor/vial but I feel like it's getting less. We leave a day in between to replenish. When we did our first few cycles we got about 2.5ml now it's only around 1ml. Still just takes 1 little sperm though I know

Just catching up on thread! Welcome to all the newbies it can be a tough journey as displayed but so worth it the advice from this thread helped me so much. I have my 12 week scan next week, eek !

Varies @ChunkyButFunky87 between 3-5ml was 5ml on Sunday but only just over 3 last night.

5ml! That seems loads ha. Mine was between 1.5-2.5 ml I'd say

Mine usually is only around that much too @foreverfrustrated09 I was shocked.

The goods need to work this month though as my donor is moving and I can’t go through having to find a new one AGAIN

So excited for your 12w scan, they say you get more energy in your 2nd trimester 😍
I am 10dpo today and tested with a frer and I think I got a vvvvfl, I will buy another test tomorrow and test at 12dpo to see if I will get the line. I am feeling a bit of nausea and lower backpain, so I am 🤞 the test comes positive. My Ava temps are still elevated which gives me hope.

Well I feel a little guilty today, made a bit of a blip with my calendar, laying there last night legs upwards and suddenly realise I have my bloody smear test this morning!! I now feel like a bit of tramp, poor nurse I'm sure see's enough vagina's without the need to see extra content, will be cringing TMI for anyone

I’m sure she takes it all in her stride @ChunkyButFunky87. You won’t be the first or last and I’m sure there isn’t much left to see that long after so don’t be embarrassed.

So I've got some achy uterus going on, how I feel when I'm going to come on, but it's too early for that, so now I'm wondering if ovulating later this month and it's actually that but My temps have risen last 2 days, am I completely clutching at straws to do another round tonight
