At Home Insemination - Buddies?

H8624 · 15/02/2020 17:58

For several reasons hubby and I are going down the route of at home insemination. It can be quite a lonely process I think - does anyone want to join me and we can go through it together/share tips etc?

Bit of background - we've tried for 2 months now both unsuccessful. I'm using clearblue ovulation detector to get my peak, and we've been doing the insemination every day from when I get my flashing smiley to the day after the peak, give or take the odd day! Using 10ml syringes and laying down afterwards for 20-30 mins.

Finding the 2ww a real struggle, and my heart breaks every time AF comes! I know it's only been 2 cycles and could take a lot longer so need to be patient! Altho feel like everyone around me is having babies which doesn't help!

Anyway sorry for going on - anyone want to join and share their experiences/tips? Need some motivation and hope!

Totally caught off guard. Just come on - 24 day cycle, never had one this short but proves what I thought about a random early ovulation so obviously missed our chance and was too late on CD 14 & 16. Boo

Well, back to it we go Envy

Busybee143 · 03/09/2020 19:54

@ChunkyButFunky87 are you deffo on? Don't count yourself out unless your in full flow. I used to have 24/25 day cycles and ovulate between cd14 and cd16, hope all is well

ChunkyButFunky87 · 03/09/2020 20:31

@Busybee143 yeah I think so

I had implantation last time and it was literally a wipe and light pink twice and then no more.

This was more, darker, tmi and a bit of stringy dark brown. Deffo looks like start of, just strange, my body is playing tricks with me lol

Busybee143 · 03/09/2020 21:12

@ChunkyButFunky87 fair enough. I've had implantation bleed with 2 of 3 pregnancy's and they were both a bit different. Wishing you luck!!

ChunkyButFunky87 · 03/09/2020 21:26

Thanks @Busybee143

Well one of those, for now it stops my head being on overdrive if I just take it as period lol any nice surprises welcomed but not getting my hopes up.

This does however mean I go onto my last cycle that would see me have a baby at 33, will officially be into the mid 30's range Hmm

Busybee143 · 04/09/2020 01:35

@ChunkyButFunky87 don't worry about age! If all goes to plan with this little bean I'll have just turned 30 when I give birth!!

Coolhand2 · 04/09/2020 02:47

CD 15 today and I think I got my highest peak so far, I haven't seen it so close to positive opk like that. We inseminated and have my legs up in the air. Thanks ladies about inseminating every other day, we skipped yesterday.
@Busybee143 glad you are sleeping better now.
@ChunkyButFunky87 I get you about mid 30's, I will be 34 (almost 35) if this is my month, 🤞 for all of us.

Waiting2BAMummy · 04/09/2020 04:24

I’m 39 @Busybee143 @ChunkyButFunky87 @Coolhand2

Excuse me I can’t hold my phone while using my Zimmer frame to get to the kitchen for my horlicks!! 😂😂

Busybee143 · 04/09/2020 06:59

@Coolhand2 sounds like your doing a good job! Are you going to inseminate once more? I thought I inseminated quite late after my peak this time but it worked!
@Waiting2BAMummy 😂😂 I love a good horlicks every so often!

ChunkyButFunky87 · 04/09/2020 14:02

I have just caved and purchased an Ava bracelet. Stupid money (thanks Paypal credit!) I am 100% on early and I had a minor mardy at myself for not realising I'd ovulated early lol

Let's see if this helps!

Waiting2BAMummy · 04/09/2020 14:19

I felt like that once I’d purchased the ovusense @ChunkyButFunky87 but now it’s here I’m waiting to stop spotting so I can use it!!

Once you get your sticky BFP you’ll be so thankful you bought it you’ll forget how much it cost - unfortunately I don’t think my credit card company will 🙈🙈

ChunkyButFunky87 · 04/09/2020 14:46

@Waiting2BAMummy I'm presuming Ava is same, ie wait until finished so I'm hoping it arrives quick, I'm usually only on 4 days and it says 3-5 day delivery.

Yes exactly, I'd get BFP worth everything single penny and not like I can't sell it on being a wrist version

Waiting2BAMummy · 04/09/2020 15:33

That’s very true @ChunkyButFunky87 I researched both but went with the ovusense because it gives you a prediction of four fertile days and then gives you (with 96% accuracy) a 24 warning of ovulation and confirms the exact day you ovulated afterwards. It tracks your core Body Temperature every five minutes and you can either continue wearing it after confirmed ovulation tool see if your temperature stays up or can just stop using it until next cycle.

Definitely don’t think anyone would want to buy it when I’m finished with it though 🤔 😂

Coolhand2 · 04/09/2020 18:52

@Busybee143 we will inseminate one more cd16, did you inseminate during peak and after peak?
@ChunkyButFunky87 welcome to the Ava club, I really like mine, it helped me the first time around, it takes 3 cycles to learn you. @Waiting2BAMummy, ovusense is similar but I like the fact that it tells you ovulated.

Waiting2BAMummy · 04/09/2020 19:03

Me too @Coolhand2 and it tells you exactly what day so you know how well timed your attempts were as to whether you should cling on to hope for that month or mentally move on.

Hope you’re successful this month.

Busybee143 · 04/09/2020 22:20

@Coolhand2 I did yeah and it seemed to work, I don't usually do it that way

Waiting2BAMummy · 05/09/2020 19:22

Finally going to start using my ovusense tonight. Is it really sad that I’m so excited about this?!

Busybee143 · 05/09/2020 20:06

@Waiting2BAMummy definitely not sad!!!!

ChunkyButFunky87 · 07/09/2020 21:49

Well I finished AF earlier today and my Ava isn't here yet, I can't find instructions to confirm if that means I won't be able to use this month now. I have some opk's in still, cheapies so will just use them if not.

Waiting2BAMummy · 07/09/2020 22:14

The ovusense says you can start using it straight away of your current cycle started less than 20 days ago @ChunkyButFunky87 so hopefully your bracelet will arrive in the next few days and you’ll be okay (assuming it works the same).

Coolhand2 · 08/09/2020 03:41

I am so excited for you @Waiting2BAMummy🤞
@ChunkyButFunky87, you can use it anytime during your cycle, hope it arrives soon.
I am 2dpo today, my Ava pushed my ovulation by 1 day, hopefully I can relax a bit during to this tww, I try not to symptom spot because I have been hopeful and then af showed up.

Waiting2BAMummy · 08/09/2020 07:15

Thank you @Coolhand2 how many days do you have to use your Ava bracelet for before it gives you a predicted fertile window?

I’ve used my ovusense for 3 days now and so far nothing, although my temps are all over the place. I am putting in my temps into fertility friend too and they’re predicting ovulation for CD 17 which is next Monday.

Keeping my fingers crossed for you this month.

Coolhand2 · 08/09/2020 07:55

@Waiting2BAMummy, Ava is like FF, you tell it your previous periods, length of cycle and it predicts fertile week, and then during fertile week as it measures you, that's when it can shift it forward or backwards, it can say keep trying you haven't ovulated or fw is starting earlier than predicted. I guess ovusense works differently? There is no option to enter previous periods in it?

Waiting2BAMummy · 08/09/2020 08:05

No @Coolhand2, you can’t enter any previous data it just tracks your core body temp each night and then gives you a fertile window prediction which, as with Ava, it will move in real-time if the data requires it. After ovulation it shows the exact date you ovulated and then after the first month of use it immediately predicts an 8 day window for your next cycle which it then reduces to 4.

I guess it’s just taking time because it has no previous data and it doesn’t help that my temps are up and down.

I was thinking I’ll keep tracking FF and ovusense and will try to cover both windows just to be sure. I’m using a donor though so that assumes he’s not ready prepared to make that many donations. Will just have to wait and see what ovusense says I guess.

bigblueboots · 08/09/2020 17:22

Hi everyone, I'm new here and hope its okay to jump in. We're in the TTC by donor club. This will be our fourth month trying, it's my partner who will be carrying, so I'm doing the inseminating. Starting to feel like at pro at it now, but no luck so far!

My partner has really irregular cycles, so half the battle is trying to pick the right time. No ovulation test has ever been positive but bloods show she is ovulating. Confused

We have a lovely known donor who comes over twice per cycle, we agreed to review after 6 cycles so hoping he's willing to keep on trying beyond the next few - or actually, hoping we don't need to keen on trying beyond this one! Grin
