At Home Insemination - Buddies?

H8624 · 15/02/2020 17:58

For several reasons hubby and I are going down the route of at home insemination. It can be quite a lonely process I think - does anyone want to join me and we can go through it together/share tips etc?

Bit of background - we've tried for 2 months now both unsuccessful. I'm using clearblue ovulation detector to get my peak, and we've been doing the insemination every day from when I get my flashing smiley to the day after the peak, give or take the odd day! Using 10ml syringes and laying down afterwards for 20-30 mins.

Finding the 2ww a real struggle, and my heart breaks every time AF comes! I know it's only been 2 cycles and could take a lot longer so need to be patient! Altho feel like everyone around me is having babies which doesn't help!

Anyway sorry for going on - anyone want to join and share their experiences/tips? Need some motivation and hope!

Just a heads up guys, I was getting up a lot during the night and up with my lo and temping worked out for me, I left the thermometer at my bedside so it was right there. Best of luck x

Coolhand2 · 24/08/2020 14:22

Congratulations @Busybee143 @foreverfrustrated09, those are great lines, so excited for you. I pray it's a healthy 9mths and healthy baby😍
I didn't know about ovusense @Waiting2BAMummy, sounds like it will be good for you, I see one of the most important thing is pinpointing ovulation in this journey.

I am CD5 today and excited I will be trying soon. I have opks and will start those in a few days.

Busybee143 · 24/08/2020 20:39

Thank you @Coolhand2 I really hope this is my chance now!
Good luck this month, keep us updated

ChunkyButFunky87 · 24/08/2020 21:31

Random one ladies

So for a good 4 days up to yesterday I had (sorry TMI) lots of really creamy CM (more than normal) so figured in good timing heading towards ovulation and my cheap opk's were developing.

Yesterday - CD14 (app 1 says ovulation day 15, other day's day 17 so was planning 14, 16 & 18 to cover all bases) suddenly it all just stops and dry as a bone. Now Tbf I wasn't using opk regularly and missed altogether yday but just done one and it's gone so faint.

Thoughts? Ovulated earlier than expected - although no EWCM to back up? Or have I just randomly decided to not ovulate this month.

In limbo

Busybee143 · 24/08/2020 21:57

@ChunkyButFunky87 I would say maybe you've ovulated earlier than expected but I would keep peeing on sticks to be sure. Your body may have geared up but not ovulated yet, have you been temping (I can't remember if you've started yet) as that could help to confirm.
Don't forget it only takes the once so if you have ovulated early your still in with a really good chance!! Good luck 😊

ChunkyButFunky87 · 25/08/2020 22:12

Indeed just once!

Well round 2 tonight, annoyed, I got the smaller 5ml syringes this time and Sunday worked well but tonight I got leakage again. Don't know why, hips propped up, did it as slowly as I could/thought it was inserted pretty far but could instantly feel it coming out (sorry tmi) Just a waste of a very precious load lol hoping some still made its way. Here's to hoping!

Waiting2BAMummy · 25/08/2020 22:25

I’ve read them goods’ hit your cervix within 3 seconds @ChunkyButFunky87 so I’m sure you’re fine.

Have you heard of soft cups? You could get DH to do his business straight into the cup and then insert it straight away and you won’t get any leakage.

If I have to travel to my donor who is a 2 hour drive away again I’ll be using them as I have nowhere to lay down and will then have to get in the car and drive home.

Busybee143 · 25/08/2020 23:10

@ChunkyButFunky87 I'm sure you will be getting most of it in the right direction, relax and do your best.
@Waiting2BAMummy do you go to your donors house?

Waiting2BAMummy · 26/08/2020 10:52

I do go to his house as when I first met him we were in lockdown and hotels were closed. Besides it’s so hard having to arrange hotels at the last minute as I have to five 2 weeks notice for time off work @Busybee143

Busybee143 · 26/08/2020 11:36

@Waiting2BAMummy that's fantastic, I'm glad its worked out like that for you as it will save you some money too

Waiting2BAMummy · 26/08/2020 14:19

My other donor used to come to me but I prefer going to this one as he doesn’t know where I live so isn’t going to turn up one day demanding access! @Busybee143

Busybee143 · 26/08/2020 21:01

@Waiting2BAMummy I completely get that, I suppose we put a lot of trust into our donors, ours is a wonderful man. How are you feeling today?

Waiting2BAMummy · 26/08/2020 21:52

Still waiting for af @Busybee143, today is cd29. Last month was 31 days which would mean I’m due on Saturday. That would also mean, though, that I didn’t ovulate until cd20 and I was so convinced based on cm it was cd13.

How are you doing?

Busybee143 · 27/08/2020 10:23

I've got everything crossed for you!!
I'm OK no symptoms to report really other than being a bit tired. I keep getting bad cramp too, I'm somewhere between 5 and 5+5 so early days yet

Waiting2BAMummy · 27/08/2020 10:33

Thanks @Busybee143 I’m really just waiting for af to arrive. My ovusense is being delivered today so can start using that when af finishes.

Fingers crossed for a healthy and uneventful 9 months for you, you deserve it.

Busybee143 · 27/08/2020 11:33

Thank you so much, I really hope this is your cycle, if not at least the ovusense is coming. My last cycle I bought LOADS of vitamins and supplements to try and get pregnant then boom it happened 😂 they are useless to me now ha sods law eh

Waiting2BAMummy · 27/08/2020 11:35

I’d be so grateful that I wouldn’t care about the wasted money though @Busybee143 and I’m sure you probably feel the same too!

Busybee143 · 27/08/2020 11:40

Oh yes definitely but it's just sods law isn't it 😂

Waiting2BAMummy · 27/08/2020 11:49

Absolutely @Busybee143

KaleWhale · 27/08/2020 13:07

I am place marking, maybe joining. My long-term partner just decided he doesn't want to have another child after all (he already has). I feel pretty shattered, not so much by the break up - which may be wrong - I feel angry about that - but the fact I am 35 and may not be able to have my own child now.

I am just looking at options but thinking of going solo with at home insemination and donor sperm.

Busybee143 · 28/08/2020 08:07

@kalewhale
Sorry to hear about your break up.
I say you should go for it, there's plenty of women who do it on there own and do a mighty fine job! Let us know if you need any advice.

ChunkyButFunky87 · 28/08/2020 09:57

Sorry to hear that @KaleWhale well welcome to the group, can't believe we're nearing our 500th message and if you read back over them you'll see we've had some highs and lows but genuinely I've found it so supportive to just be able to vent and talk freely about my journey here.

I was due to third and final go last night however DD (3) was having a sleep over at Nannies and I got a call at 9pm of her sobbing saying there were monsters! Cue 50 mile round trip to collect her and our evening went out the window lol

Anyway, 2 in for this month so I'm still happy, although I do think I ovulated earlier than I thought so time will tell

Waiting2BAMummy · 28/08/2020 10:50

Welcome to the gang @KaleWhale, sorry to hear about your break up. I think you’ve done the right thing though as you can’t compromise on something as important as having children.

I’m going this alone and if you’re strong enough to walk away from you relationship because you want this so much then you’re strong enough to go do this on your own.

These ladies are amazing and we’re all here for any help and advice you might need. Good luck!

Waiting2BAMummy · 28/08/2020 10:58

Good luck @ChunkyButFunky87 hopefully you still caught the right days.

I’m still waiting for AF to arrive but last month was 31 days so would make the witch due tomorrow. My ovusense arrived yesterday so will start using that once AF has finished.

Busybee143 · 28/08/2020 11:02

@ChunkyButFunky87 good luck, 2 is more than enough, I always have 1 or 2 donations. I have everything crossed for you. I'm feeling a little rubbish this morning, I'm wondering if the ms is starting
