At Home Insemination - Buddies?

For several reasons hubby and I are going down the route of at home insemination. It can be quite a lonely process I think - does anyone want to join me and we can go through it together/share tips etc?

Bit of background - we've tried for 2 months now both unsuccessful. I'm using clearblue ovulation detector to get my peak, and we've been doing the insemination every day from when I get my flashing smiley to the day after the peak, give or take the odd day! Using 10ml syringes and laying down afterwards for 20-30 mins.

Finding the 2ww a real struggle, and my heart breaks every time AF comes! I know it's only been 2 cycles and could take a lot longer so need to be patient! Altho feel like everyone around me is having babies which doesn't help!

Anyway sorry for going on - anyone want to join and share their experiences/tips? Need some motivation and hope!

That was meant to say I couldn't hold out ! Ha sorry. Took a one step at same time and nothing. Trying not to get hopes up to much

H8624 · 05/08/2020 07:57

@ohsotrying I can see a super faint line on that! Fingers crossed for you! How many days PO are you and when is AF due?

I can definitely see it @ohsotrying :)

ohsotrying · 05/08/2020 08:01

At due 8th either 8 or 12 dpo going by bbt and opk. If I ovulated later af could be due later

H8624 · 05/08/2020 08:57

@ohsotrying so close then! Hopefully in a few days you'll have a nice clear line and no AF!

Question, you may not know. If it was a faint postive today. Am I more than likely 8dpo or 12dpo?

ChunkyButFunky87 · 05/08/2020 10:36

@ohsotrying it's really not something we can answer as people's bodies are so different. Roll on tomorrow morning for you, retest and hopefully watch it get stronger

ohsotrying · 05/08/2020 10:47

Thought so. I always thought if u got a postive I'd relax a bit I think I will when I see a couple days of positives and af doesn't arrrive.

ChunkyButFunky87 · 05/08/2020 10:49

Yep, the crazy doesn't stop until they are in your arms! Grin lol

Fingers crossed for you x

H8624 · 05/08/2020 15:26

@ohsotrying I'd say more likely 12 (as you don't tend to implant until 7/8 at the earliest then would take a few days for HCG to build up enough for a line to appear) but it really could be either!

From my experience I got a super faint positive on a one step at 12dpo, and a proper line on a one step and FRER at 14dpo (day AF was due for me).

But some people have had positives as early as 7/8dpo from what I've seen on Mumsnet so it could be either!

I see a line @ohsotrying fingers crossed.

My donor had said would help this month but now he hasn’t replied to my message so who knows? 🤷🏻‍♀️ Should I just give up and accept this is never going to happen?!

ChunkyButFunky87 · 05/08/2020 20:27

Don't give up @Waiting2BAMummy I'm resigning myself to the fact it's not happened this month x

ohsotrying · 05/08/2020 20:32

Don't give up @Waiting2BAMummy I thought my donor had gone quiet then suddenly replied after a while. I forgot have you had any fertility tests ?

Waiting2BAMummy · 05/08/2020 20:34

No @ohsotrying but I had a chemical pregnancy in March so I know I can conceive but it took me 19 months to get that.

Maybe I should go back to the OPK’s.

ohsotrying · 05/08/2020 20:48

If you get the one steps there not to inexpensive you might as well. Maybe worth a trip to gp?

ohsotrying · 06/08/2020 08:00

Pleased with my line progression from yesterday, got my postive ! I'm already so scared but so happy !!!
I can't thank you ladies enough for guiding me through the process, answering all my questions even when I had loads. Not many people knew what I was doing in real life and when they did they don't know what to say. Just thank you! I hope you all get your positives soon

@H8624 how's the pregnancy going? Did you do a little announcement?

Busybee143 · 07/08/2020 15:40

Congrats @ohsotrying my donor came a couple of days ago and now I'm waiting on another go today. That means I've done the days either side of my peak on my opks so I don't know if that's good timing or not but I'm sure I'll find out. Good luck ladies for this month, we got this!!!!

H8624 · 08/08/2020 08:22

@ohsotrying how are you getting on? Have you taken any more tests?

@ChunkyButFunky87 it's all going well thank you. Found out last week we're having a boy :). I did a small announcement on fb just as I haven't seen many people due to lockdown and will save me having the same conversation Over and over when I eventually do 😂
