At Home Insemination - Buddies?

For several reasons hubby and I are going down the route of at home insemination. It can be quite a lonely process I think - does anyone want to join me and we can go through it together/share tips etc?

Bit of background - we've tried for 2 months now both unsuccessful. I'm using clearblue ovulation detector to get my peak, and we've been doing the insemination every day from when I get my flashing smiley to the day after the peak, give or take the odd day! Using 10ml syringes and laying down afterwards for 20-30 mins.

Finding the 2ww a real struggle, and my heart breaks every time AF comes! I know it's only been 2 cycles and could take a lot longer so need to be patient! Altho feel like everyone around me is having babies which doesn't help!

Anyway sorry for going on - anyone want to join and share their experiences/tips? Need some motivation and hope!

I am literally bum up in 2 pillows, against the head board with legs up in the air

I am wondering now, that first month I used an actual Calpol syringe sterilised but this was a pre made pack from eBay and all come with 10ml. Will try 5ml next month.

I also put it, and leave the syringe for 10 mins to 'plug' but still feel leakage, legs in air for 20 mins after - obviously no science to it but makes me feel better lol

I would deffo try a smaller one and see how you feel, I think some leakage is normal to be fair

I use 10ml syringe @ChunkyButFunky87 I think some leakage is inevitable but I leave the syringe in hides face while I make myself o and until I’m ready to get up. For next month I’ve bought some softcups and am going to get my donor to make his donation straight into that and then insert it and it sits right at the cervix. Mainly because I’m going to him and I have to inseminate in his bathroom and then drove home.

I've heard some people use those cups and they work well, I've not looked into it myself yet. Is it today you go?

Just got my peak ! If I get a donation at 15:30 hopefully that will be okay ?

@Waiting2BAMummy I'm the same - no shame! lots of posts says O helps as it makes the cervix dip into the sperm, so I'm happy to oblige lol

Well 2 tries now this month so 2WW is officially on, hubby seems better this month so maybe we'll get another on CD15 just to try and seal the deal 🤝

@ohsotrying yes fingers crossed, it says within so many hours of your peak, so the sooner the better

I think I might hold off testing till tomorrow, rough night with the dd and I'm not in the mood for a negative ha! I think Im technically only due on tomorrow anyway so it won't matter

No it’ll be next month @Busybee143 I’m just waiting for AF to arrive got all the signs that she’s on her way. Did you test this morning?

Yes what will be will be. I've just tested using one step and this is my readily do feeling okay. But I'm so nervous ladies ! Not many people know I'm doing this in rl. So I've got sterile pots calpol syringe and a 5ml. Does anyone recommend something like pre seed or am I okay ? Any tips on merging the donor. I'm planning on just giving him key letting him do his stuff and going upstairs. Thank you !

My donor usually just uses the bathroom to do his thing and then leaves @ohsotrying. I do use preseed and put it in about 10 minutes before inseminating as it needs to warm up to body temperature or can shock the swimmers (so I’ve read). That opk looks pretty good so timing seems perfect.

No I haven't tested, I'm feeling crampy and because I have 24 day ish cycle I'm only 9-10 dpo so I thought id hold out till tomorrow so I don't waste a test. I'm a bit nervous to test if I'm honest!

That was nerve racking he was only here for about 10 mins and seems nice enough. Left sample for 10 mins then used syring inserted siting on a pillow for 30 mins. They coming back at 11:30 tommrow. Did a ovulation test and clear blue. Clear blu said low but these are lines and I've got ewcm ! So fingers crossed but glad I've done it once know

But I get what Chucky was saying when I got up there was leakage on pillow sorry if tmi. I hope some went in !

Those lines on the clearblue don’t look low to me @ohsotrying they say you shouldn’t look at the lines on those tests because that’s not how they’re interpreted but I’ve always found when I got my peak I had a thick line and a strong thin line down the left outside edge of the thick strip.

Tomorrow will be easier now you’ve done it once @ohsotrying you don’t have all of that apprehension.

Clear blue you have to start testing early as the first reading will always be low (it tells you on the pack when to start testing I think as it varies on cycle lengths) but you have to start early so it does low then reads when you're hormones get higher!

I'd say your one step looks almost positive and CB pretty much there so your timing seems pretty much perfect for today and tomorrow :)

Morning ladies. Sorry for tmi here. Just had last donation. Stayed in place hosp up for 40mins, did evreything slowly and it still felt like all the donation fell out ! Dorm must have gone in right ? This TTCing is so confusing !

@ohsotrying I felt like that most of the time. I'm just trying to think there's hopefully millions of swimmers there so only a little needs to get through! Time will tell, me and hubby are supposed to do a third attempt tonight if he's able so I'm keeping fingers crossed, that'll be CD 11, 13 & 15 then and hopefully the best chance of catching.

Sounds good @ChunkyButFunky87 we will be TWW about the same time ! I've ordered 4 freers from amazon that don't get to my house for 11 days so should be perfect ! And thy was my thinking hopefully with millions some must have gone in ! I have ewcm today to so hoping I've times in perfect ! Only time will tell

@ohsotrying eek! Fingers crossed. I'm due AF on 7th August, however with both my pregnancies I never got any form of positive until 4+5 weeks, which works out to be around 12th August. I'm sat here thinking it's still July, that's ages away

There are millions of swimmers in every donation @ohsotrying and it really only takes one so try not to panic.

Literally feels like tonight's attempt came straight out need to ditch these 10ml syringe. That or I've got far more of a bucket than I knew and it just can't hold anything!! (I say that laughing at myself!!)

Well 3rd and final attempt for this month done, I can't lie I'm actually legs up trying to pass the time, sorry if TMI but I guess we've all been here lol
