So it appears I posted the 1,000 message on our previous thread and now it's closed so I've opened us a new home!

Good luck for Christmas Eve! Hoping for a Christmas miracle for you!

Waiting2BAMummy · 17/12/2020 21:53

Thank you @KLO0224 I think I might be out though. My temp dropped yesterday from 36.81 to 36.66, it went back up this morning but only to 36.74 so I guess I have to wait and see what happens.

Good luck to you too really hope you get your Christmas miracle x

I’ve tried to get my head around temping but I don’t fully understand it. What should your temperature do from ovulation and if you were pregnant?
I have always run hot, I rarely need a coat and usually wear shorts until November. Since testing temperature at work regularly with COVID my average temperature is 37.1 anyway. I noticed it went up to 37.4 around when I ovulate.
Should it stay high if you are pregnant?

Waiting2BAMummy · 18/12/2020 09:40

Yes, it should remain above th cover line @KLO0224. Everyone is different though so you would have to track for a few cycles to see what is normal for you.

I’m no expert on temping, I have an OvuSense monitor that takes your core body temperature every 5 minutes over night and then you get an average it the morning when you download the data to the app.

Good luck for tomorrow @Waiting2BAMummy

Waiting2BAMummy · 23/12/2020 22:36

AF arrived on Monday @KLO0224 but it was a perfect 28 day cycle which I’m taking as a positive after my 40+ day cycles from the last 2 months.

How are you doing?

OP posts:
KLO0224 · 24/12/2020 07:13

Oh I’m sorry, but good news about the 28day cycle, every cloud and all that!
I’m ok, been keeping busy with Christmas preparations so the first week has flown by really!
I hope you have a lovely Christmas!

Waiting2BAMummy · 24/12/2020 12:03

You too and I’m keeping my fingers crossed for you @KLO0224 I’m hoping next year we’ll both be celebrating baby’s first Christmas! 🎄

Well flo reared her ugly face a day late. Try again this month!

bitheby · 04/01/2021 20:30

I'm never going to be a mum am I? Am sitting here with tears silently rolling down my cheeks. I was planning a trip to London to meet the donor at the weekend. Do you think I should still try to go?

I've been so desperately low. I don't see that my life is worth living without being a parent. I don't see a future.

Waiting2BAMummy · 04/01/2021 21:05

Bless you @KLO0224 I’m sorry. I had a donation yesterday morning and got my positive opk around 10:30 last night so would guess I’m ovulating today. Fingers crossed for you for this month.

I’m sorry @bitheby I feel your pain I’ve been trying for over 2 years now and can’t help but feel like it’s not going to happen. You could still try to travel but you wouldn’t be able to stay anywhere. Could you not try to find a donor closer to home? I met my donor at a train station and he did his business in the bathroom and then I did mine. It wasn’t ideal but I’m pretty desperate at this point.

Ohhh sounds like perfect timing! Good luck for this month!
@bitheby I would still try to travel, how far away do you live from London? But like @Waiting2BAMummy says, accommodation would not be available. Where there is a will there is a way!

bitheby · 05/01/2021 15:57

I live in Wales. He's been posting it but the timing has to be spot on and I ovulated late last month and I'm worried that that will happen again in which case the whole thing is a waste of time. Chilled sperm doesn't live as long. I was willing to risk a tier 4 journey but I'm not sure now.

Waiting2BAMummy · 05/01/2021 16:25

Could you not find someone in Wales @bitheby? I had a few guys from wales contact me on co-parents. Might be a little easier to meet someone more local to you given the current restrictions.

OP posts:
KLO0224 · 05/01/2021 16:31

Oh wow, I am so confused! I was always under the impression that sperm needed to be inseminated when fresh.
Can I ask how the whole chilled thing works? Is it cryogenically frozen?

bitheby · 05/01/2021 17:30

We've always met in person and I've had an early miscarriage and a chemical but he reckons that posting it chilled in a special preservative/antibiotic is effective. It's how a lot of animal artificial insemination is done. He's bought special box and we've done that for the last two attempts.

The first one he messed up the courier and it sat in London for 24 hours before even being collected so was a waste of time. Last cycle I randomly ovulated 4 days late and had a 4 day longer cycle so I inseminated too early. Once it arrives, it needs to be used as they won't live for long and probably only live for a couple of days once inseminated.

That's why I said I wanted to go back to meeting in person. I'm sceptical that this will work and although it's convenient, I am too old to waste months for stupid reasons. Like Covid!!!

Waiting2BAMummy · 05/01/2021 19:59

I’m seriously considering going abroad for IVF once restrictionists are lifted @bitheby.

I was really against the idea but the more I think about it I’m just wasting time right now. I don’t even know if I’m fertilising an egg each month let alone whether or not it’s going to implant. At least having IVF I’d know I’m guaranteed to be half way there each attempt. I’ve looked at a few clinics in Spain and Denmark and they’re much cheaper than here and often with better results. One of my donors even said before that he would travel with me and make a donation so I wouldn’t even have to buy sperm.

It may not be something you’re prepared to consider and I know I wasn’t but now I just want a baby and I’m pretty much prepared to do whatever it takes.

I’m sorry for your losses I had a chemical pregnancy in March and it was gutting after the excitement of my first ever BFP. I hope you get something sorted.

So the saga continues. Reconciled myself to not travelling and going back to the post method.

Donor booked a courier for this morning, delivery tomorrow. I have no idea when I will ovulate. Any time in the next few days. So we'd planned another delivery on Tuesday to cover the full window.

Sent me a message to say that they can't deliver on a Saturday because they have a parcel size limit but hopefully I can persuade them to let me collect it from the depot.

Got another message this afternoon to say that they tried to collect earlier than they said and so collection was missed and so I won't get the first sample at all.

He's rearranged collection for Monday and delivery Tuesday.

Just have to hope for another late ovulation and the timing will be ok. This is so stressful! It's affecting my whole life. I've been useless at work this week and I'm sure it's the stress and emotional upset of this.

I wanted to give it a really good go this month before seriously considering going to the clinic knowing that I'd given it the best shot I could.

Arrrgghhhhhh.

bitheby · 09/01/2021 14:11

Just got a positive OPK on two different tests. Bugger bugger bugger.

KLO0224 · 09/01/2021 14:40

Sod’s law isn’t it!

Waiting2BAMummy · 09/01/2021 17:29

I’m sorry @bitheby these sorts of things are the exact reason I started looking for a donor closer to home.

I had a donation on Sunday but didn’t ovulate until Tuesday so don’t think I have much chance this month.

How are you doing @KLO0224?

OP posts:
bitheby · 09/01/2021 17:40

That's perfect timing. Fresh sperm live up to 5 days so you'll be well covered with that.

Waiting2BAMummy · 09/01/2021 18:39

Thanks @bitheby. Guess I’m just not feeling all that hopeful after 26 months.

OP posts:
KLO0224 · 09/01/2021 18:46

I’m ok thanks @Waiting2BAMummy, due to ovulate in just over a week and luckily donor is still at home and is more than happy to help. In fact he messaged and asked if he was needed this week.
I feel so lucky because I wouldn’t have the confidence to meet people I don’t know and do it that way.
It does sound like good timing for you! I would be hopeful!

bitheby · 10/01/2021 21:42

What do people think? I haven't had much EWCM for a while but last month I had it very obviously which is how I knew I ovulated late.

I had my positive OPK yesterday but haven't had any EWCM yet. Do you think it's possible that I might ovulate tomorrow in which case it's worth him sending a sample to arrive Tuesday?

I told him yesterday that it wasn't worth it but I'm wondering now if it might be. I don't know how long it takes for me between a positive OPK and ovulation and I would I assume that I would have ovulated today and I might just not have any EWCM again this month.
