Mandy, I hope you are doing ok? I tend to mostly just lurk here, but wanted you to know that I am grateful for you sharing your story.

DW had egg collection yesterday too Geluksvogel! Only 9 for us, but I think that's good too? We hear tomorrow if any have fertilized, so feeling pretty nervous. She is feeling some pain from the collection now, but I guess that's to be expected. I hope everything goes well for you over the next few days.

Geluksvogel · 16/08/2018 17:09

@GingerSnapp congratulations on your 9 eggs. It’s a really good number and it’s definitely quality over quantity. Hopefully you get a good number fertilise and continue to develop. As they keep telling me it only takes one good one! Fingers crossed for you and your DW
I felt a bit sore last night on one side but feel ok today. Definitely post your results as it would great to go through this with someone. We are freezing all ours (if we get any good enough) and then having them screened bcos if my age. So it’s going to be a long road for us. Is your DW having them put back in straight away? Either way wishing you all the luck in the world. I don’t know about your DW but I’ve found the actual physical side of IVF fine but the emotional side of it a rollercoaster and I’m only just getting started!

Hi everyone

Just checking in as I feel I haven't updated in a while.

Welcome to the newcomers to our thread

Day 55 of my cycle now, got to go for a scan and blood test next Wednesday to see what's going on. We are on holiday from work so going to take DH and DS (they'll wait in car) and make a day of it so it doesn't feel like the long journey it usually does!!!

Never have I been cursing AF so much!!

Geluksvogel · 17/08/2018 07:14

Hi Button I cannot begin to imagine how frustrating it must be waiting after having the last one cancelled. I hope AF shows up or they can sort things next week for you. When you transfer your Frosties how many are you putting in?

GingerSnapp · 17/08/2018 10:45

Thanks Geluksvogel! Just found out we have got 5 embryos so far. And they’re going to call us each day with updates. And yes, hoping to have transfer straight away if all goes well. Hope you are managing with the wait!? Is this your first treatment?

Good luck for Wednesday button. I hope you get some answers.

Geluksvogel · 17/08/2018 11:30

Hi @GingerSnapp well done on the 5 embies that’s great news. I’m well jel about the daily updates! I’m sure at least one of the 5 is a fighter. Fingers crossed for you guys.
AFM yes I’m struggling with the wait, no news lack of control and just not having a clue basically! My clinic don’t like to disturb them apparently but I’m like “give them a nudge it’s fine by me!” As long as they update me of course.
Oh and yes it’s our first treatment. I don’t know if I’m the exception to the rule or whether people don’t post when they don’t need the support but I’ve found IVF to be fine and would happily go through it again. I’m just hoping against all hope that we don’t need to.
I’m abroad still and fly home tomorrow. I’ve missed my DW and can’t wait to go through the next few days nervously together.
How are you guys feeling about the whole process? Does it feel much different to your IUI attempts?

ButtonMooooon · 17/08/2018 14:38

Geluksvogel just one at a time because of the risk of multiple pregnancy given my age but I am just looking at it as 6 separate chances!!

Geluksvogel · 17/08/2018 17:28

Well good luck for Wednesday Button. Six potential babies is an awesome thing to have in the freezer and fingers crossed you don’t need six goes.

lovelymojitos · 19/08/2018 19:21

Hi all, I've been out for a while as taking a break before ivf cycle starts in November. Although I need to lose quite a lot of weight before then as I need to be bmi

Kaznet · 20/08/2018 16:10

Hello lovely mojitos. I'm new to the thread and I totally know what you mean I'm 41 had 5 unsuccessful iui's before finally getting pregnant with 1st ivf. I started before I'd turned 40 and there were so many delays and my anxiety grew and grew I started to think I may have left it too late.
Got my bfp on my 41st birthday!

GingerSnapp · 20/08/2018 16:35

Hi lovelymojitos and kaznet.

We managed to get at least 1 of the 5 embryos to day 5 blastocyst so that got transferred today! And now we wait.....

Geluksvogel, have you had your 5th day update yet?

Geluksvogel · 20/08/2018 17:06

Hi lovelymojitos and kaznet

Hey @GingerSnapp congratulations on the blast. Good luck with the 2WW.

We got our update this morning. 2 very good quality blasts that have been biopsied and frozen and 3 further that they want to let go another day to see if they become freezable quality. So another 24hr wait but worst case scenario is we have two for PGS. The screening takes up to 2 weeks so I will almost be on the same 2WW as you just for something different!

Fingers crossed for both of us!!

lovelymojitos · 20/08/2018 19:27

Thanks kaznet, congrats on your BFP! How far along are you?
Good luck for the 2ww gingersnapp and fingers crossed for you too geluksvogel!
Day 1 of proper hardcore dieting today, at work most of the day so not too bad, just need to get back in good habits really and not go too mad at wkends!

Geluksvogel · 20/08/2018 20:30

Thanks lovelymojitos and good luck with the diet.

TreasureInMyTummy · 20/08/2018 21:38

Hi mojitos so sorry to hear about your three unsuccessful iuis. Fingers crossed for ivf. I'm borderline bmi 35 and find it hard to lose weight too. I wonder why it makes a difference for ivf but not iui?

If you have read past threads you will see some of the women have had longer journeys than others - I think for me kwick was someone I was so please for when I heard she was pregnant - but as long as you are mentally prepared and want to try what's possible we are all here for support :)

Congratulations kaz. How far along are you now?

Good luck for Wednesday button I've got my fingers crossed for you

@GingerSnapp
How lovely to get daily updates on them - good luck
@Laura207 You can get sperm from London sperm bank and get transferred to any hepa registered fertility clinic if that helps ( that's what I'm doing) so I'm assuming you might be able to do this with possibly the European sperm bank or American one? London sperm bank costs £950 a vial and it's a couple of hundred to transfer so you know. Good luck it's a bit to come to terms with. When do you find out if still possible with husband?

@Geluksvogel Well done on 9 eggs - any update yet. I found old threads really helped me when I started getting this journey first time. Glad I may have helped you xxxx

I had counselling session today which went fine as we both acknowledged a bit different as I've already had son by donor sperm. It was still good going through reasoning again and interesting to hear recent research suggests donor children are more interesting in meeting up with other half siblings who are donor children rather had the donor's children he has had himself. Before I got pregnant I thought About other families using the same donor but more from angle of uk limit ten families to limit likelihood of meeting and falling in love. Now I know sperm only for sibling. Reservation I know My son already has 9 half siblings which seems a bit crazy when I really think about it. Positive but crazy that he has large family tree already.

So period due this week and I can confirm to go ahead when i next ovulate. Only thing that makes me nervous is luteal phase has been 9/10 days and would like it to be a bit longer. I've stopped feeding through night in the last fortnight so I'll see if that makes a difference...

Gosh I can't stop going on the threads asking for squinty eyes to look at potential bfp

Pez82 · 20/08/2018 22:12

Treasure, just quickly popping in to say I can't believe you're going for baby number 2 already! You are so brave!
On the subject of donor siblings, I am in touch with the mother of one of my DD's half brother in Denmark. We both matched via a donor registry Facebook page and it's so nice to chat about similarities. I'm keeping this secret from DD until she's old enough to ask about potential siblings.

Best of luck everyone with your journeys x

TreasureInMyTummy · 21/08/2018 07:57

Wow @Pez82 I didn't know it was so easy to trace half siblings! I think I need to think whether I will try to or not... wow

Counsellor did mention that the ancestry websites are now matching people to half siblings more which I thought was interesting. I'm going to try to be as honest with Rex from the beginning so I guess he won't find out from this so don't need to worry.

Yes I think I am crazy trying for second but I would love a full sibling for my baby and me and my sister had 17 months between us and loved being so close. Eek I hope it works out. X

Geluksvogel · 21/08/2018 10:47

@TreasureInMyTummy we got two great quality Frosties but the 3 they were hoping would be day 6 blasts didn’t make it. Hoping the two we do have test ok. If not we will give it one more shot.

Reading about all the journeys has been super helpful and inspiration. I’ve lurked for well over a year watching yourself, pickle, kwick, pez etc get result. I’ve also had my feet kept on the ground by some of the heartbreak too. I don’t know what our journey will bring us but we can only try and hope for the best really. Good luck too.

GingerSnapp · 21/08/2018 11:53

We got 2 in the end too Geluksvogel! One fresh transfer and one in the freezer. Was very relieved to hear OTD is actually a week Friday so slightly less than the two weeks i was expecting. Thank god.

We had really not thought about donor siblings before age of 18. But I guess their can be some real positives to exploring this earlier. Does anyone here have experience with the donor conception network?

Kaznet · 21/08/2018 14:18

Thank you! I'm 21 weeks.
It's been a rough road but better now.
The put 2 in and both stuck. I was shocked and then thrilled! I had bleeding from a subchorionic hematoma and was on bed rest for a bit and then I lost a twin at week 11 (not related to hematoma).
So worried I'd loose the other but feeling more confident now.
I'm already thinking about if I will go for number 2 @treasure. I have 4 in the freezer and I'll be 42 before I can try and put another in. If I use them up that's it though I would try ivf again due to my age/ money and my donor has retired now so I feel if those 4 don't work number 2 just wasn't meant to be.
Everyone thinks I'm mad for even thinking about number 2. I don't think I would be if it hadn't been for the twin.

Kaznet · 21/08/2018 14:19

*wouldn't try ivf again
