Do you have a freezer bag for shopping? Cool bag for lunches? You could put an ice pack in as well for good measure. I am fairly certain it's colder outside than in my fridge at the minute and more snow is forecast too

LRDtheFeministDragon · 21/03/2018 17:18

I don't, and I did think about grabbing one, but if it needs that then I probably need to sneak it into my mum's fridge.

Sorry, I think I am just worrying about something trivial as a displacement activity really! How are you, button? I hope things may be progressing a bit?

TinyPaws · 21/03/2018 17:29

Could you pack a cool box with ice packs in the car? What's the weather forecast like where you are?

I was on Menopur and was told it didn't need to be refrigerated.

ButtonMooooon · 21/03/2018 17:38

Still playing the waiting game LRD, getting hacked off with everything now!!

We've decided to contact a solicitor about putting in a claim against our local clinic for the ill advised cycle we paid for. Our new clinic told us to hold off and not add stress to ourselves but we could have been quite far through the process by now. It will give me something else to think about for a while!!

LRDtheFeministDragon · 21/03/2018 17:41

I bet you're hacked off!

I do increasingly think that clinics should be better regulated. I haven't had any problems that even remotely compare with yours, but I have regularly been shocked at how casual they can be about something they are charging so much money for. There doesn't seem to be much expectation that you as a client have any rights to be cross if something is mis-managed. I've heard the same from other friends not on MN. So if you have the energy to sue I really hope you get a good result from it! In the end I think clinics will have to start taking more responsibility and being more transparent about all of this.

ButtonMooooon · 21/03/2018 17:52

What I find most infuriating is our new clinic were mortified we'd even been allowed to attempt a cycle let alone had it recommended to us by the other clinic. They have shot themselves in the foot as we've actually got it in writing when they were updating our GP that we'd asked for an egg donor but they'd told us we had a good chance with my eggs!!

Latenightreader · 22/03/2018 10:45

LDR I am sure I was told that once the Gonal f had been opened it didn't need to be in the fridge. Each pen was three doses for me, and so when a friend on the same medication came to stay she just kept hers in a drawer. If you have a cool bag for the journey you should be fine. It's all so anxiety inducing isn't it!

Latenightreader · 22/03/2018 10:48

I keep meaning to post to tell you that if you get a private prescription in Boots you can collect club card points! I only discovered this recently, but have collected £30+ over the last two months. There was also a discount for spending over a certain amount and they were so much nicer and easier to deal with than Asda pharmacy who couldn't order Lubion and took forever to let me know...

LRDtheFeministDragon · 22/03/2018 21:59

button, that's awful - the waste of time and hope! Angry Sad

late - thanks! I am reassured it's fine.

Grumpy with the clinic (again!), though. I got my negative test on Tuesday and rang the clinic asking if I could go straight onto another IUI cycle once I started bleeding. Sure, they said. And I said I still had several doses in my gonal F pen, so could I just keep using it. Sure, no trouble, they said.

I went in today to get a new one purely because we are going away for a few days - otherwise I would have left it until Monday and used the old one up first. So, I got the new pen and was chatting - as in, informally! - to the nurse and happened to mention it'd be good to book in my first scan while I was there. Only then did she suddenly decide to tell me I can't do another IUI without a new treatment plan (and it's 'illegal'!), and I must not touch the gonal F until I hear from the doctor tomorrow. Which may mean this cycle is out purely because I cannot get to the clinic tomorrow to sign paperwork.

I don't know if I'm more cross that they didn't tell me in good time so I could have come in and signed paperwork earlier in the week, or more cross I could have been injecting myself for days before suddenly being told I was doing 'illegal' treatment.

I know I rant about my clinic a lot but grrr.

pickle162 · 23/03/2018 10:46

I had to sign another treatment plan but it didn't stop me starting anything just signed it when I next went so hopefully she was just being a jobsworth

TinyPaws · 23/03/2018 10:53

Sorry LRD your clinic sounds like a mess organisationally!

Once we'd signed our consent before starting treatment we didn't have to sign anything else. I had treatment plans for both cycles but they were given to me when I attended and I didn't have to sign them.

I had all my prescriptions filled in Boots, got loads of Boots card points, they were good value for money too.

Booked my early scan, hopefully if all is well then my anxieties about this one not sticking might calm down!

LRDtheFeministDragon · 23/03/2018 15:55

YY, that's what I was expecting to do, pickle!

I think she must have been a jobsworth as someone eventually got in touch and said it was fine. I just hate constantly feeling wrong-footed by them.

tiny, good luck with your scan! Worries are horrible, but hopefully you'll soon get to see the little bean.

pickle162 · 23/03/2018 16:45

Glad it's all sorted out and before the weekend lrd-phew

Zoo33 · 24/03/2018 18:50

Went to the clinic open day today. It was so reassuring and a really positive experience. I'm booked to have the fertility MOT and consultation in a few months (they had an offer on so it seemed silly not to) - that's apparently valid for a year so as long as it doesn't flag any ovarian reserve issues it'll give me the time to recover from my breakup and process this.

LRDtheFeministDragon · 26/03/2018 21:22

Oh, that sounds great, zoo! How are you feeling in yourself?

Zoo33 · 27/03/2018 07:43

@LRDtheFeministDragon I feel pretty good about this but a bit down about my life generally. By product of escaping an emotionally abusive relationship but I'll not go there on this thread. I think I'm more pissed off that the money he owes me (which I'll never get back) would pay for this!

Have you recovered from the shock of being told you were treating yourself illegally? How ridiculous.

LRDtheFeministDragon · 27/03/2018 21:11

I'm sorry you're down. I can understand you being furious about that!

Also - I understand you not wanting to talk and don't want a reply - but can I say that you are awesome for getting out of that relationship. You're going to be a wonderful strong mother.

(That's my feministy bit coming out! Grin)

I'm over the shock, thanks, though it was really odd. I've got my scan tomorrow, so I'll find out if this cycle is a possible one or not. I'm not letting myself get too excited, as last month I had a dominant follicle in my good left ovary, and the nurse couldn't even find my right ovary, which is probably defunct. But, I guess it will be useful even if I just get another chance to see if they can find the right ovary!

pickle162 · 28/03/2018 06:18

Good luck with scan LRD

Ttc2017 · 28/03/2018 08:31

Good luck lrd fingers crossed for u x

Zoo33 · 28/03/2018 08:54

Thanks @LRDtheFeministDragon! I have another thread dealing with my whinges on that so it seemed daft (and irrelevant) to bring it here.

Best of luck with the scan. X

ButtonMooooon · 28/03/2018 12:56

Sigh a weird bleed last couple of days indicating polyps have returned. Starting to feel this will never happen now Sad

pickle162 · 28/03/2018 19:41

How did the scan go @LRDtheFeministDragon

Sorry to hear that @ButtonMooooon 😔hope it's not the polyps

LRDtheFeministDragon · 28/03/2018 19:46

Oh, button, sorry to hear that. Sad Are you able to get it checked soon?

pickle, thanks for asking. Scan actually went well! I needed a bit of good news. Last month they couldn't even find my right ovary, and said it was probably not doing anything after I'd had it operated on. This month they found it! It is out of place but it had about six tiny follicles (the sizes where they don't do anything, but that's ok - at least it's there). On the other size I've got what might be a lead follicle at 10mm. So I'll go back on Friday and see if it's growing.

But, TBH, even if this cycle is out I'll still feel good as I really had thought the right ovary must be completely unresponsive given they couldn't even see it last time.

How are you getting on?!

pickle162 · 28/03/2018 21:05

Ooh really positive stuff LRD really pleased for you :) glad that right ovary was just hiding. I always had one that hid behind other structures

Yeh doing ok thanks, I'm 38wks +2 now -head engaged 2/5 (so 3/5 inside my pelvis and 2/5 could just be felt but she said was close to be 1/5) this is good however doesn't give any indication of when she will come, but desperate to meet her now

TinyPaws · 28/03/2018 22:41

Sorry button that sucks.

Glad your scan went well LRD fingers crossed all continues to progress nicely.

How exciting pickle not long now!
