Is anyone up for a photo thread? Mumsnet is pretty international and there should be some good entries. I'll kick off with some from my ride today through the Irish countryside.

Gosh that sky is amazing

TheLongRider · 03/07/2017 20:38

Proper summer sky with skylarks for company.

There's a great quote from an Irish comedy group called D'unbelievables "She'd be a lovely little country if only you could roof it!"

Stunning photo Thelongrider.

I should be employed by the Irish Tourist Board for promotional work! If anyone ever wants ideas for cycling in Ireland give me a shout. We've got everything from flat to hilly!

I think you should TheLongRider, we have had to cancel our touring holidays this summer. DH has cycled in Ireland and is keen that we give it a whirl as a family at some point.

I am just waiting for my doctor to fill out my travel insurance forms as I am having surgery, all is well though as it is benign so I am happy enough.

My holiday plans now involve camping (have bought a camp bed as I might not be up to getting up off the floor!) and walking/reading/doing v little but never mind, there are worse things.

Whyhellodaffodil · 10/07/2017 23:08

What a lovely thread! I'm doing a 10k (running!) training plan and it suggested cycling to mix it up - you've all inspired me to give it a go! We live on a cycle trail so I have no excuse, will get the bike out and report back by the end of the week!

TheLongRider · 10/07/2017 23:36

Barchester Best of luck, I've been reading about your issues elsewhere. I hope everything goes smoothly and that you're back in the saddle soon.

Ah, so glad it's benign Barchester! I was thinking about you the other day and wondering. Sending virtual Cake and Brew

You could consider selling images for post cards Rider Smile I found this in a post office over the weekend and sent it to DH for the laugh. I think most photos on this thread beat it Grin

Oops, forgot to say hi to Whyhellodaffodil living right on a cycle trail sounds brilliant Envy

BarchesterFlowers · 11/07/2017 17:08

Thank you both, yes very pleased it isn't anything sinister. I have got about a million books in my to read pile so will try to make the best of being stuck doing not much.

I told DH&DD to go on one of the hols without me, I will be fine, could always stay with my parents if I wanted to, but they won't hear of it.

Kinderbonbon · 11/07/2017 18:45

Iceland:) its breathtakingly beautiful

katymac · 11/07/2017 18:47

It looks it!!

My brother lives (& builds bikes) in Sweden & I think the scenery there is amazing too!

FlaviaAlbia · 12/07/2017 09:00

Awh, they're keepers Barchester Smile

That is incredibly beautiful Kinderbonbon

TheLongRider · 12/07/2017 11:26

I've always wanted to go to Iceland with or without my bike. It's on my bucket list. I can't decide if I want to go in winter for the northern lights or to go in summer for the endless daylight.

OP posts:
BarchesterFlowers · 12/07/2017 14:01

I am hoping for a) being back on my bike and b) northern lights on Mull at the end of October Smile.

Spudlet · 19/07/2017 17:49

We took a trip to the next village (foreign parts! Shock) because they have a much better playground than we do. Envy

This was on the way home! You can just see our village church in the distance Smile

Nice photo Spudlet. That's the kind of summer's day you remember during a wet November's day.

Here's one from my morning commute in Devon recently.

FlaviaAlbia · 19/07/2017 19:05

Barchester that sound incredible, I've seen the Northern lights once when I was in the Mournes and they were beautiful. I'd definitely consider a trip to see them again.

FlaviaAlbia · 19/07/2017 19:08

Oops, posted too soon.

Those are lovely Spudlet and Jessica! Did you get much of the storm yesterday if you're in Devon Jessica?

I'm on the no cycling list for a bit. DS fell off his balance bike going too fast downhill and he's slipped a growth disc in his shoulder Sad he's being really clingy so I'm sticking with him till the sling is off.

Spudlet · 19/07/2017 19:25

What a beautiful sky Yessica!

Sorry about your DS Flavia, poor wee boy. Hope he's feeling better soon.
