Is anyone up for a photo thread? Mumsnet is pretty international and there should be some good entries. I'll kick off with some from my ride today through the Irish countryside.

We are in Hull & then off to York before the weekend - no plans after that

we are doing remarkably well for 3 weeks in!! I think

BarchesterFlowers · 23/05/2017 20:08

It sounds fantastic. Not sure if you are riding for fun or utility but sustrans has some nice easy rides and you can select regions of the country for wherever you are heading.

We are riding the cinder track this weekend from Scarborough to Whitby, we were going to do it last week but the weather was grim to the east.

York has got some really nice rides, nothing too strenuous (for north Yorkshire). After my winter off I only rode east for the first six weeks!

katymac · 23/05/2017 20:28

Both - the panniers have been a godsend for shopping!! parking a motorhome in the tow centres would be a nightmare

We even got some camping equipment on the back on Dh's

we were on route 63 in Lincoln & I think Hull has one we are on tomorrow

Cambridge was bloody amazing hardly ever on a road & on a path if we were

It's made us decide we definitely want cycle path/tacks where we live next

We used to live in Cambridge katymac, fab place for biking. I think you can go over the Humber bridge on a bike lane - blow the cobwebs away Grin.

How is your cat, did he go with you?

katymac · 23/05/2017 21:38

Yes he is having a lovely time!! Walking on a lead - still working out if I can get him on my bike!!

Fab Grin, one of my mad cats used to follow me down my lane and I used to stick her in an ordinary mesh basket on the front of my town bike and ride her home and lock her in the house.

Dales sportive today - before the rain descended!

First sportive for me and highly recommended - excellent route, marshalling, food, very friendly and, if it matters, cheap.

Got out today for the first time in a couple of weeks, was a nice day for it though it got overcast as the day went on. Amazing feeling the temperature difference at sea level and on top of the mountain, I could feel it getting warmer and warmer as i did the decent.

The mountains you can see in the distance in the very first photo in this thread, well I was in the middle of them today.

Yes, Belfast Smile they've turned Divis mountain over to the National Trust and it's got a road to the very top. It was really busy, fair few cyclists and loads of families out for a walk.

My knees feel wobbly at the prospect of the climbing you did though!

TheLongRider · 29/05/2017 09:19

My knees feel wobbly too. Surprisingly I'm not completely fecked this morning. Two ibuprofen before bed helps to reduce inflammation and tenderness a lot.

Fab 😀. I spent a lot of my childhood in robin hoods bay, we had a house there. 😊. I could do with a motor on my bike for some of those inclines, where to next?

katymac · 31/05/2017 21:53

Well Robin Hood's Bay is tomorrow - we need to leave our bikes near the top apparently....although where the top is, may be up for discussion!

BarchesterFlowers · 31/05/2017 22:00

Fantastic, my aunt still lives in Whitby and another in Goathland (the heartbeat village), are you sticking to the coastline?

This is a nice site, only as long as you are not too rowdy 😂. Near a pub!

BarchesterFlowers · 31/05/2017 22:00

katymac · 31/05/2017 22:21

We are at York House Caravan site - it's nice but very busy

katymac · 31/05/2017 22:23

No we are in & out, Lincoln, Hull, York, Campbridge (not in that order)!

We haven't been anywhere we didn't like yet

Possibly Harrogate then Blackpool next?

FlaviaAlbia · 01/06/2017 10:45

Gosh, that is stunning! Looks like you're getting glorious weather too.

katymac · 01/06/2017 16:31

It was amazing - today is Robin's Hood Bay

The weather is glorious - but not so hot we are burning& the cycling is pretty easy - even for dh!
